I laughed when I first read that, but then I realized you might be right.

Gotta add another Hogan "classic" here from the October 1986 Saturday Night's Main Event: "The old Mr. Wonderful's back like he got a new paint job or something! Big deal. I'm the old battered-down, broken down Hulkster, and it just keeps running better than ever, man." Um...something that's broken down doesn't run better than ever, Hulk.

I boycotted WCW PPVs for over two years because of War Games 1998. Basically, my dad talked me into getting it because he thought the three team format could be interesting, so I went "What the hell". During the opening Tony Schiavone is discussing the rule changes, and my dad looked over to me with this "you're shitting me" look on his face as I said "We just got ripped off." Needless to say, the next WCW PPV I ordered was Starrcade 2000, and I almost didn't order that one either.

It's definitely Michael Buffer, and basically they have to edit him out because they'd have to pay him a percentage of everything they made off a DVD with his likeness in it. It's basically the same reason most of Ventura's stuff gets edited from WWE DVDs. Of course, I don't know anybody who bought a WCW PPV or WWE DVD because Michael Buffer would be introducing the main event.
-
That's basically it. You're not making it available for me, so why shouldn't I find it elsewhere? And let's say I just want to get rid of my tape collection because i'm moving to a smaller place and simply can't keep my tapes. If I try to sell them at a garage sale, will the copyright police swoop down on me? I agree with WWE for the most part, but unless all the stuff I'm looking for is on WWE 24/7 then I'm unhappy as a fan.

I can't remember Schiavone ever doing Worldwide by himself though. Hell, Jim Ross was still with company at the time and did Worldwide until after they signed Ventura.

Wrestlers where their debut televised matches were
JHawk replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in General Wrestling
He also did one shot as "The Super Giant Ninja" on an episode of WCW Saturday Night, losing in about a minute and a half to new US Champion One Man Gang. Sadly, so few people watched World War 3 that nobody noticed even though the ring outfit was the same. -
I know Jesse co-hosted in 93 when they were taped at MGM. I believe he did in 92 as well, thought I'm not certain. I'm pretty sure Ventura was doing Worldwide in 92. He definitely was by the end of 92 because he hosted an arm wrestling tournament around October/November. Could it be that WWE is editing his commentary out of that too? They have on their DVDs before.

I was actually more apt to ask that question before I saw the shark cage match, personally. Oh wait, that was sarcasm, wasn't it? Still, this set is definitely worth the money.

I used to love this thing the first few years when they'd give about 60-70 pages a year to important events in wrestling history. Now it's highly watered-down, but it's a good reference tool when you can't get online.

Mine was only like 85 bucks, but we're talking mid-1990s prices. Only wore it about ten times after I graduated though.

WWE had a two hour "Royal Rumble Raw" on 2/3/1997 that was allegedly going to show the entire 1997 Royal Rumble, but wound up being most of the previous week's card from Toronto. 2/13/1997 was Thursday Raw Thursday where HBK lost his smile (which aired live). 2/17 was the first live two hour Raw, and they went through about WrestleMania or so (with the exception of 3/3) live every week before settling into the live one week and taped the next at that point, IIRC. Nitro did a few three hour specials in 1997 before going to three hours weekly in January 1998 (I want to say 1/26 but can't remember for sure).

It should be working now, but it was working when I posted last night, so...

As the new mod here, I want to make just a couple of quick notes about posting here. 1. No flaming. I shouldn't have to explain this one since it's a board-wide rule anyway, but please keep any personal insults and other flaming to private messages. 2. If you suspect a previously banned poster, do not post it in a thread. If you feel you absolutely have to blow a whistle on somebody, you can probably PM a mod, but our global mods are usually pretty much on the ball and will take care of it. We certainly don't need people calling out PBPs everytime specific people post. It clutters the threads and wastes out bandwidth. The five year rule. Keep in mind that this is the old school thread and we're supposed to keep things back to five years ago or earlier. Certainly, talk about more recent stuff is sometimes relevant and therefore appropriate, but threads that seem to be more about current events will be moved to general wrestling. No copying and pasting or scanning and uploading of copyrighted material. That's all for now, but if there's anything else, I'll be sure to let you know.

I would work on one myself if I had the time. Sadly, I really don't.

Raw from JHawk's Beak (4/26/2004) You know the drill.

If it's a close drive, you should be ashamed of yourself for missing the first two shows in the area. Excellent stuff. But yeah, mostly the problem would be the swearing, but the action should be so good that it won't be that big a deal.

Where the hell is "Fish Heads"?

I think you have to make an effort to get the ball though, and from what everybody's saying, Conine didn't. I'm just pissed I had Conine on the bench in my fantasy league and he started like 3 for 3

If I'm correct on the rule about protests, then it would probably be a home run and they'd change the result of the game. IIRC, the pine tar homer counted after they upheld that protest, so I'd assume that one would count too. It's up to MLB at this point though.
-
That I don't know. I haven't seen it, but I'm assuming it would have been inside the park, right? Maybe they redo that at-bat since you can't assume he'd have made it home.
-
If they win the protest, and that's a very big if, they'd have to replay the rest of the game from that point. When they overruled the call in the pine tar incident with George Brett, they literally played like four outs, so it has happened.

You know, I'd try to defend myself in this thread but I don't think anybody would believe me at this point anyway.
