    Baseball cards

I've still got most of my cards, but I stopped collecting in the early 90s. It got to be over a dollar a pack and just wasn't worth it to me anymore.
  2. If that's the hold, Norv Turner's got a legitimate gripe there.
  3. Not sure if it's on wwe.com yet, but Shelton Benjamin qualified for the Royal Rumble last night in Jonesboro, AR by beating Tommy Dreamer.
  4. I never saw The Marine, so it's new to me!
  5. Um...why didn't they just factor it into the compensation money to begin with?
  6. The Bob Orton-Brian Blair match from the Penta Hotel was awesome before the shitty finish.
  7. Following a week off for illness, Smart Mark Radio returns to its normal time of 6pm Eastern/3pm Pacific this coming Sunday, January 13. Join us as we review TNA's Final Resolution PPV, discuss all the latest news in WWE and TNA, and relive the "glory" of Herb Abrams' UWF. You can join in the conversation by calling (646) 478-5863. Also tentatively scheduled for January: January 20: Indy wrestling tribute show (Scroby is currently one of our scheduled guests for this show). January 27: Royal Rumble preview/history show.
  8. I love the horrid editing. Night one: "John Tolos with some harsh words for Brian Blair, we'll see how Blair fares later on." Only they didn't show a Blair match or a Tolos promo." Then last night there was leaving the brawl to go to the Luna Vachon interview from like six months later, plus the random match from July 1991 mixed in with the New Year's episode. And God, Abrams sucked on commentary!
  9. I thought Vader was a shoo-in to win the 1996 Royal Rumble. I thought Austin was going over HHH at No Mercy 99 for the title (unaware Austin was injured at that point).
  10. 30) You come to your dorm to find campus police arresting your roommate. Apparently your roommate smuggled some homegrown dope plants into your room while you were in class and got busted by the RA, who happened to have his room open when your roommate went by.
  11. In fairness, I assumed the same thing, mostly because the WWF never gave away title matches on free TV, particularly in the 80s. The key though was when Challenge and Superstars advertised the same title match. If the match was advertised for Superstars only, I gave the champion even odds to retain (and he usually did).
  12. Due to a bout with the flu, no show this week (this is the first time I've even been online since Tuesday and I still feel like shit). Back at normal time next week.
  13. In fairness, WWE wrestlers at least have guaranteed downsides if they take time off. I'm not sure the ROH contract has one, and even if it does some of those guys aren't on contract and don't get paid if they take time off. I agree they shouldn't have worked yesterday, but I can see why the workers would have worked anyway.
  14. Didn't they give Sting his at the start of the show? So, in theory, Muta would get his a year later. The problem is they didn't give it to Muta the next year, and he was in the country at the time.
  15. Only ended up having one other person call in, and you're right, one hour wasn't long enough this week. The problem is most weeks I'm stretching to fill the full hour, so two hours isn't in the immediate cards. BTW, Scroby, expect a PM regarding a future show in the near future.
  16. All I know is Channel 43 became My Network TV and my cable company stopped carrying it. Luckily I get Youngstown stations too and they have a CW affiliate.
  17. Is there a reason Edge, the World Champion, is competing in Beat the Clock to determine his number one contender? Out of context it looks like TNA booking.
  18. That's not special at all Actually, considering I know a couple of gay men who said "I'd go straight for Kylie Minogue" and considering Kotz's fascination with her...
  19. Isn't the CW affiliate like channel 35 or 29 or one of those shitty channels nobody watches anyway though?
  20. People can say "Had the Browns won here" or "had the Brown done this" all they want. I can take solace in the fact that they went 10-6 (better than expected) against teams that played to win while Tennessee went 9-6 against teams that played to win and 1-0 against a team that took a dive.
  21. Join Jared Hawkins and guest co-host John Morrow this Sunday December 30 at 6pm Eastern/3pm Pacific for a very special edition of Smart Mark Radio. This week, a look back at the year 2007 in professional wrestling, discussing the wrestlers and matches of the year, as well as the fall out from perhaps the most disturbing wrestling-related story in history. Tune into the show live at www.blogtalkradio.com/smartmarkradio and call in at (646) 478-5863. And don't forget to check out the archives from every past edition of Smart Mark Radio, also available at www.blogtalkradio.com/smartmarkradio
  22. The fact that Sacrifice is the one I ordered (for it being the last under the NWA banner) and it drew that low is surprising. The original ECW did better numbers than half of these.
  23. I think Venkman's right. Every wrestling ring except maybe some set up in the backyard has wrapped cables for ropes, so that makes no sense.
  24. Excessive celebration isn't borderline when it takes 30 seconds and you jump on a teammate so he can lift you into the air. They didn't call a fucking poke to the eye as unsportsmanlike conduct. They called unnecessary roughness when someone tripped over a camerman's foot while he was being stared at. Never mind that a drive that was stopped on third and long was continued for an illegal contact call that was borderline at best on a play where Brady never had a chance to throw the ball. OMFG THE REFZ GAVE THE PATZ DA GAME is beyond tiresome at this point only because everytime they don't run the fucking score up somebody has to say it.
  25. There's still hope for the Colts' backups to beat the Titans tomorrow. Right? Fuck.
