The OAO Raw Thread for August 27th, 2007

I wonder how that would work. Sure you would have the initial "That sonofabitch just RKOed his own father", but then there is the fact that Cowboy Bob has always been a heel anyway. Though if they were doing that angle they would make Cowboy Bob seem like the second coming of Christ compared to Randy. i'd think that be a pretty viable thing. does anyone remember the last time cowboy bob wrestled?????? he doesn't have to be presented as a heel, just as a legend and as RKO's dad. First William Regal would give RKO the night off in the opening segment. Cowboy Bob could be in the ring at 10:50 Eastern to apologize for his son's behavior and make amends. Cena would get more and more pissed, start screaming "THAT WAS MY FATHER!!!!!! DO YOU WANT TO GO THROUGH WHAT MY FATHER DID???????" (there are ways to make him this mad and keep him a face) Cena could whoop Cowboy Bob's ass, give him the FU. Randy Orton runs in after the FU If you want to foreshadow a Cena heel turn don't have him try to stop Randy, make him leave the ring, then have Randy cut a promo about the WWE Championship and how no one can stand in his way, PERIOD. Then kick Cowboy Bob right before they go off the air. Make sure they show EMTs, whatever and give one or two minutes for J.R. to put it over (or better yet, the silent announcer ending) Or you can have Cena stay in the ring, Orton gives him a short beatdown, RKO, sees his dad get up, gets the look in his eye, and kicks him. -

For about 30 minutes until we get the next SHOCKING~! turn. It only means something when you don't do it at every opportunity. are you sure you're not confusing monday and thursday nights??????? RAW needs something like this to happen. though i'm not sure they should do this until the end of the mcmahon illegitimate child storyline -

edge does not need the rub that beating undertaker at mania would provide if i want to see undertaker lose at wrestlemania next year, i want to see it be a non-title match to MVP or Matt that elevates one of them to the world title picture if they're not there by then
-
he is what he is, but they never should have moved him off smackdown i loved jbl's reaction to him when his music hit and he appeared to face the undertaker in the smackdown sprint he's a good wimp heel and santino could learn from him

WWE General Discussion for August 2007

and how many are gonna see this????????? 50 people online at most???????? -
What do you expect from WWE Creative? 2 Talents that they have nothing for, so they pair them up for a few weeks and hope for the best, then will forget about them totally. And they wonder why ratings are so bad. i would say she looks her age. granted it's a hot 36, but you can tell and here's my main issue with WWE. why are victoria and kenny a team??????? no backstory to it, no backstage segment to explain it or give a reason. it's like how two out of the five stars of a rating are for the feud leading up to a match. if jobbers wrestle each other in a five star classic, but with no build and for no reason, no one cares. if it's shawn michaels and john cena culminating a well developed feud, that's what gets the five stars
-
there's no other explanation than the 2.5 number being a glitch or something now if it happens again next week, then WWE can go crazy and figure out a way through the ratings mess but i wouldn't beleive 1/3 of a fanbase in the millions would lose interest in the product for no reason over the space of one week especially when most of that remaining fanbase is fanatics who'll watch anything that's passed off as wrestling

No, no they don't! They'll think Dusty is doing something wrong and I don't want that to happen. I really enjoyed ECW tonight, I still like how they're using wrestling to help put storylines/feuds over. I also like how they're doing differant things with some of the wrestlers but yet keeping certain wrestlers the same way but just giving them more of that edge. The putting over of Stevie Richards is awesome and it's about fucking time and it's a perfect example of something they're doing differant with someone that really wasn't being used right. I also like how ECW has quite a few feuds and storylines going. -ECW title, I like how people are actually FIGHTING for a shot at the ECW title. They've been doing a great job of actually building the ECW title back up as something important that wrestlers actually want. Instead of a centerpiece for two guys who are feuding about something OTHER than the ECW championship title. i don't think the ECW title is anywhere near built up yet. to me it has everything to do with the quality of wrestlers in contention for it. back when the brand started it was as strong as the raw and smackdown titles, but that gradually ended after lashley defeated big show. i'd suppose when he-who-must-not-be-named was drafted to ECW he'd bring some of that star power back, but we all know what happened. when the champion is johnny nitro/morrison, who could be good but isn't yet, and the challengers are c.m. punk who probably is good but hasn't had that star-making moment yet, elijah burke who fits punk's description, and the has-been tommy dreamer, the championship has issues regardless of how the matches look. there's 20 altogether on the ECW roster. eliminate styles, tazz, RVD, and extreme expose and there's 14 counting cor von, who hasn't been seen in a month and mike knox who hasn't been seen in six. i'm waiting for the angle where dreamer calls sandman and says "ECW needs you back, man", then coach doesn't let him leave and it becomes a battle between sandman's business on RAW and his ECW "family". (I'm gonna let yall figure out how good an angle that could be over spitting an apple in someone's face accidently. in RL that's an accident and you clean up and carlito says he's sorry. when i saw that, i got the impression bobby lashley handles his problems like a delinquent eight-year old, or better yet, you don't spit the apple out in public. i don't think the WWE creative incorparate enough real-world psychology into the writing)

The Hardy's have one of the worst fan followings in wrestling today. It's mostly just chubby pseudo goth chicks. you couldn't be more wrong

i like cryme tyme but what the hell???????

they can use this time wisely if they push certain guys. we always say matt hardy should be in waiting for a title, but what about chris masters???? i don't see the hate for him. he ain't the best in anything, but the way people talk they think he should be released. i don't mind him. or for that matter mark henry. and amazingly, raw's champions have even less cred than smackdown's in my eyes. john cena's been champ for almost year why???? his luck's gonna run out vs. randy orton. at least there's a logical reason khali could be a champ, even if it's only because he's bigger than everyone else, it's still more logical than having the most 10 year olds screaming for you. the equivalent of hornswoggle's belt is candice michelle. why is she the champ??????? because she showed her boobs in playboy. at least hornswoggle's actually wrestled before and won in other promotions. domino got offense in on batista according to these spoilers, as opposed to the cena SQUASH of cade and murdoch on monday night. mvp and umaga i'd say are about equal, with's mvp's mic skills balancing out umaga being superior in the ring.

i think the internet helping expose a lot of inner workings of the business might be making things seem predictable. if yall remember the '97-'01 era, that was back when most fans didn't have the internet or they had a slow dial-up connection. now if you look at the 3.something ratings, i bet many fans over the age of 12 go on websites like this one. these fans aren't true "smarks", but if people are telling them the shows are terrible, they're not gonna watch over a period of time. these are the same fans that bring that attitude to live events. how better can you explain carlito's or lashley's lack of pops than the internet "conditioning" fans to beleive those guys suck (what fun is it to say a guy's "just there"????). of course the cycle reinforces itself. no pop="he sucks". this also works in reverse, which is why matt hardy is getting the best reactions of all the midcarders in WWE. every superstar is entertaining in his own way. some, we've been invested in their career for years and years; some, obvious gimmicks (the world heavyweight and cruiserweight champions); and some, we just "feel" them and what they're fighting for or what's fighting against them. my answer to the ratings dilemma is to draw older fans in with the competition level of the matches over anything else. weekly 10-15 minutes, **1/2-*** consistent matches in beleiveable story arcs leading to ***1/2-**** on pay-per-view main events and so on. also i'd get serious about reforming the business from a wrestler's health standpoint. other than the "offseason" suggestion, i don't beleive there's much that can be done. i'm betting lots of fans have been turned off over the years as they've realized these guys are slowly killing themselves in the ring on every move. -
no, keep jobbing kenny out until he comes back in his cheerleader garb, even if it's by himself. i loved that character but instead, no heat, no headband, and no one cares since he changed his name i'd rather hear tony chimel than any other ring announcer though

RVD vs. Tommy Dreamer from 1997 in the ECW-WWF flag match at November to Remember outside the ring, a fan had a banner that read http://strictlyecw.com i went to this site on the 1% chance it was still up if anyone knows, who was Ed Cleveland Jr. and Fabulous Marc Medina, and when was the Pier Six Brawl????
