X-2 Thoughts

Flyboy:

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Well, Wolvie got stabbed about ten thousand times and basically no-sold it.

One other thing.

Did anyone else notice a Stan Lee cameo in there anywhere? I know every other movie has had one..

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Maybe he should of act hurt more, yes, but he didn't completely no-sell it. Especially when he was on his back... he was in serious pain. You have to realized that when Wolverine gets in his 'berseker' rage he can literally feel nothing at times.

I saw the movie last night, and it was awesome. I've never read any X-Men comics, so I don't know any of the backround of the characters, etc.

However, this is probably one of the best action movies that I have ever seen. It has been a long time since I actually marked out, in the cinema, by yelling when crazy stuff happened. The first scene with Nightcrawler was soo phat, he is the man. Just from that scene, I knew this movie was gonna be great.

Best part was when Mystique slid under the door at the base, and flicked the guys off.

She didn't flip anybody off. She waved.

Watch out.

Wolvie's sequences in the mansion were terrific.

My favorite part of the movie.

No, she flipped them off.

And there was no Stan Lee cameo in htis movie, Flyboy. I heard he didn't film one. As a matter of fact, I don't remember him in the first one, either.

And I can't wait to see this movie again.

She's one of the mutants rescued from Stryker's base at the end of the film. When Storm looks down the drain she says "JUBILEE?"

Once you figure out who she is there, she's very visible at the end when Xavier is teaching his class.

Is it the same girl playing her, Flyboy? I know where she is in the first one but I can't remember if it's the same person or not.

It looked like the same girl to me. I didn't really pay attention to her.

I saw it on Thursday, and was fairly impressed. I liked how the screenwriters apparently grew a set of balls this time and actually let Wolverine cut & kill with his claws, like they're designed to do, ya know. There were several "mark out" moments where the audience cheered and clapped out loud (Mystique flipping them off, the bit with the grenades, Colossus's entrance, Logan's reaction to Deathstrike's claws). A bigger spectacle than the first movie, for sure.

just dropping by to say which were my favorite parts in the movie:

1. the whole intro sequence, just amazing.

2.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

when Collossus umm, metallized himself, probably the moment when i marked out the most

3. Wolverine going all berzek in the mansion, KILL! KILL!

4.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

when Deathstryke is just beating the shit out of Logan during their fight, it was pretty brutal actually

5.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Pyro attacking the cops, it was pretty cool, and also at the end where u see him in the helicopter with Magneto

and finally 6. when Wolvie put off the cigarrete using hois hand, it was pretty funny...

I LOVED the movie but a better title for the flick should have been X2: How Many Comic Story Arcs' Can We Cram In Here?

Gonna go see it again after work this week.

And has anyone looked at the Hulk Novel or seen the new Hulk trailer?

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Why did they screw with his Origin?!?!

One question:

Did Lady Deathstrike kick Wolverine's ass like Mystique did in the first movie?

Did she ?! OMg it was rediculous. Wolvy was literally crying as he got his @$$ handed to him .

I'm glad there were more superheroes in it though. I kind of felt jipped after seeing the first one. IMO, the first one was WAY too short.

Just came back from X2 and it was awesome. There were several markout moments, particularly the whole Mansion scene.

And since I need some clarification with the Jean Grey thing...

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Doesn't Jean Grey get the Phoenix in her after going through the sun?

Doesn't Jean Grey get the Phoenix in her after going through the sun?

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

After defeating Lang the X-Men had to escape back to Earth in a space shuttle through a lethal solar radiation storm. The pilot's cabin lacked sufficient shielding against radiation, but Jean insisted on piloting the craft herself. While she was dying from radiation poisoning, the cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force appeared to Jean. The Phoenix Force created a body for itself that was identical to Jean's, duplicated her memories and personality, and absorbed a portion of her consciousness. It then guided the X-Men's shuttle to a crash landing in Jamaica Bay off New York City. The Phoenix Force also cast the real Jean into suspended animation within a strange pod that rested on the bottom of Jamaica Bay while slowly healing her.

Not in person/body, no. But when Mystique pulled down the list of mutants on Deathstrike's computer it said his name.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Jubilee is a mutant with the superhuman ability to generate what she calls her "fireworks:" energy globules that vary in degrees of power and intensity. The globules obey her mental control, traveling where she directs them, arranging themselves in balls, streamers, and other shapes, and exploding when she wishes. These combinations may result in anything from a multitude of colorful sparkles capable of temporarily blinding a person to a fairly powerful detonation, capable of smashing tree trunks or metal objects. She can absorb these "fireworks" back into her own body without harm to herself.

They're projecting for an $88 million opening weekend. Unbelievable. At this pace it should do at least $250 million in the end, just as I'd hoped.

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Am I the only one not exactly thrilled about this Phoenix thing? I really like how well they handle the mutant/human problem in the movies and I think going into this Phoenix saga could take away from it. I don't really understand their reasoning behind going in this direction. It will be hard to do a storyline like Phoenix that is so convoluted and sci-fi without coming off hokey and confusing to non-fans and like I said, it puts the focus off the compelling "mutant problem" stuff. The hardcore fans will be all pissy and riled up when it doesn't end up EXACTLY like it did in the comics, which we all know is never going to happen. I just can't see how this is good for any kind of fan. I don't want to see "X3: X-Men in Space" and a story about a cosmic entity and I don't think hardcore fans want to see this classic storyline be drastically changed for a movie.

Personally I'd much rather see more with the Mutant Registration Act, Sentinels and what happens when good mutants go bad(Pyro) than cartoonish and hokey villains like Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse.

I swear if they do like time travel with Cable, Bishop and Apocalypse the whole franchise will be the next Batman.
