When did Benoit start using the Crossface?

Benoit started using the Crossface regularly in late 1996.

3. When did Mr. Perfect become the Executive Consultant for Ric Flair and did he give a kayfabe reason for not wrestling?

5. Why wasn't Rick Martel involved at Summerslam or Survivor Series in 91? was he injured or was it just a case of no room for him on the card?

7. What was the reason given for Slick being off tv for about a year until his face turn?

3. I believe that was October 1991.

5. Pretty sure he was either injured or working overseas. He didn't return as a regular until December 1991.

7. I don't think he was off TV for that long. He wasn't managing but he did appear on the Prime Time panel while under the Reverand gimmick. This was before he started having vignettes aired around the time of Survivor Series 92.

When was the last time the WWF put a match on PPV without ANY backstory, not so much as an incident on Heat before the show (this counts just for PPV matches, not Heat/Free-For-All or tournament matches)

Steve

Off the top of my head I would say Angle vs. Steve Blackman at Armageddon 1999 for sure. I don't think there was any back story behind the Head Cheese vs. T&A match at WM2000, though I am not positive.

When Yokozuna won the 1993 Royal Rumble, was it common knowledge he was going to, even though he hadn't been there very long? Or did it catch people by surprise?

They did that lots of times in 98, Marc Mero faced Droz at Breakdown 98 for no reason and at the same card Al Snow and Scorpio faced Too Moch.

I think the sheets were picking Yoko, at least Meltzer was IIRC. Other top picks were initially Flair and Savage - obviously Flair wasn't winning due to his contract issues.

What about Owen Hart Vs. Edge from that PPV? That match seemed to happen out of nowhere.

Snow and Scorp/Too Much had a backstory that went unmentioned, as Too Much beat Al Snow and Head to keep Al from getting a job with the WWF a few months prior. Its the match where they pin Head by attaching it to a bottle of Head and Shoulders.

Most recently, the one that springs to mind is Ivory vs. Molly Holly.

Also, at Fully Loaded 2000, Tazz vs. Al Snow.

I think that one had a little bit of build to it. Tazz had just started on a mini "Path of Rage", running in people's matches and attacking people. This drew Foley's ire, they had some kind of face to face confrontation, and that led to Foley signing the match with Snow for Fully Loaded. Tazz then locked a Tazzmission on Snow. It wasn't anything major, since they were building up Tazz and Rikishi at the time, but the match wasn't just thrown out there with no build to it.

Did Godfather/Dlo vs. Bossman/Bull from WM2000 have any build to it?

Probably not since Bull made his debut about 2 weeks before the show.

I can barely remember, but when Bull debuted, didn't he run in to attack the Godfather and/or D'Lo?

1.) What was the reason for The Renegade being an Ultimate Warrior knockoff?

2.) What was Arn Anderson's last match (where he suffered the career ending neck injury) ?

3.) Why did WWE have the fake Diesel & fake Razor Ramon?

4.) Why did WWE turn Vader into jobber? They even fed him to Mark Henry and Bradshaw on PPVs!!!

1. They were probably trying to sign the real thing and failed so they used Renegade instead.

2. I don't know when it happened but his last match was on a Nitro in a tag match where he was teaming with Mongo against The Amazing French-Canadians(quebecers)

3. They were probably trying to say to wcw that it was the gimmicks that got over and not Scott Hall and Kevin nash.

4. What Happened to Vader in the WWF

What was the reasoning behind Kane's 24 hour WWF title reign in 1998?

They booked the match against Austin as first blood and then on the day of the show they couldn't come up with a logical way to make Kane bleed without unmasking so they decided to give Kane a 1 day reign and hopefully get a high rating on Raw when he lost the title.

His last match was the previously mentioned tag bout. I don't think he suffered the injury in the ring but rather it was the result of neck surgery that put him out of action. He was barely working around the time of the Nitro match and his last major contest was probably the previous November against Luger in the US title tourney.

I thought the build for Angle/Blackman was that Angle was on his undefeated streak, but Blackman kind of blemished that record by losing in some tag matches that him and Angle were in. Plus Triple H was pushing for Blackman to win cuz his wife had a crush on Angle

They changed the booking the day before the show? I always figured Kane was always booked to win it, because if he lost he was supposed to set himself on fire...well, nevermind, Russo probably had something goofy planned for that or else they never would have even brought it up. :)

2. I thought Luger "injured" (Kayfabe) Arn's back at Halloween Havoc 96, and that was the storyline reason for his neck surgery?

Technically, it wasn't his debut, right?

I recall Bull being in the Truth Commission or something.

Oh, and I read the entire Vader scenario. Good read.

1) How did Randy Savage draw in his year as a babyface champion in 1988? How did he draw as a champion post-WM8?

2) Did the WWF ever seriously consider putting the title on Mabel? And when and how did MOM turn heel? Also, why were the Headshrinkers turned face and given the tag titles after WM10 instead of putting the belts on MOM?

3) Was Mankind beating Undertaker at KOTR96 a huge surprise on the internet at the time or not?

4) Why did Davey Boy Smith leave the WWF in late 1992?

5) How long did Dan Severn last in the WWF?

6) Why was Lex Luger vs. Tatanka in a steel cage just a pregame show match for Wrestlemania 10, when they had been feuding since Summerslam 94 and instead we got Allied Powers vs. Blu Brothers?

1) Savage drew great in 1988, headlining and selling out shows against Ted Dibiase. Not sure about 1992, but most likely badly as the WWF began its downfall after WM8.

4) Davey Boy Smith was fired in late 1992, along with Ultimate Warrior, Sid and Hawk for using steriods.

2. I can't see Vince HONESTLY thinking about putting the belt on Mabel. At least Nash was over when the belt was first put on him. I can't remember Mabel ever being THAT over - as a face or heel. MOM turned right before WrestleMania XI. They lost a title match to the Smoking Gunns on the Action Zone, dropped them after the match ... then the next week after their squash they invited the Gunns out to apologize ... dropped them again, and laid our their own manager Oscar. Oscar was gone after that.

MOM were OK as title contenders but you had a dumb big fat guy and a dumb little fat guy ... and they had a rapping manager. Thank god they didn't get a title run worth talking about. The Headshrinkers were so much better.

3. It was a huge surprise to me. Not too many people were on the net at the time, certainly not me.

5. I think Severn continued getting paid into early 99, even though he wasn't on TV hardly at all.

6. Because no one cared about the feud at that point and it wasn't going to draw people to order the PPV. Maybe if they had structured the WrestleMania buildup better, it could have been a drawing bout but the WWF was consistantly dropping the ball at that time. So instead of Luger and Davey in singles matches, they're paired together to open the show against a practically brand new tag team. Smell the payoff to that one. Hell, putting them against the Million $ Corporation (featuring Tatanka) in a tag match would have been a much better move.

Before Bret Hart, who used a submission finisher in the WWF?

Brutus Beefcake, Ted Dibiase, Greg Valentine, Rowdy Piper and I believe that Rugged Ronnie Garven used the figure four leg lock.

Thanks.
