The Old School questions thread

Recommended Posts

That episode resulted in a WrestleCrap induction. I remember watching that episode not knowing all of the wrestlers were going to be on it (Weren't Hogan and Savage there too helping the bodyguards somehow) and being mightily confused.

Still wasn't as bad as when Hogan guest starred on Walker: Texas Ranger

Yeah, Hogan was on, and I believe Randy Savage as well. I think the storyline was that Flair and the other baddies were going to buy the beach and turn it into a development, and Hogan and the lifeguards ended up stopping that and saving the day, or some such nonsense.

Im not sure if this has been brought up before, but was it ever revealed in WCW who DDP's mysterious benefactor was, or is that one of those eternal mysteries like who drove the Hummer, who moved the briefcase at KOTR 99 and who blew up McMahons limo?

Wasn't the Baywatch episode supposed to tie-in with the Bash At The Beach PPV since the two main events took place on both shows? (Savage Vs. Flair, Vader Vs. Hogan in a steel cage)

I think it was originally going to be Ted DiBiase.

We did find out who drover the Hummer (Bischoff, though it was going to be Carmen Electra) and who raised the briefcase (Bossman)

Didn't they reveal it to be Ted Dibiase during the angle where the nWo tried to recruit DDP, and DDP turned faced?

It was supposed to originally be Goldust but then Goldust left (got released? Another question for the thread I guess) and they decided to continue the angle anyways.

Ah Russo, how I loathe thee.

Was GTV ever revealed?

It was supposed to be Goldust, when it was known as GDTV, then he was released.

Russo later said that he was trying to convince McMahon to get Tom Greene to be behind the angle, but McMahon had no clue who he was.

It was also rumored to possibly be Gangrel or Godfather behind it, I think. They never did reveal who it was. Actually, I remember it disappeared for a while, then came back, then was promptly dropped again.

Not so much a question but does anybody else remember WCW's ripoff of GTV, The KidCam? Did anything ever happen with that storyline? It seemed like it was just Kidman catching people look dumb on camera. I think he was the one who got Janitor Jim Duggan eating Lex Luger's laxative brownies meant for Sting. *sigh* Why do I remember this?

Yep. And Kronik, which was an APA ripoff. And Booker T was made into a Rock ripoff, and so on. Pretty blatant and lame, really. I'm surprised no wrestler just hauled off and punched Russo in the face for his shitty booking.

Meltzer was right when he called Russo's booking "retarded."

Don't forget "The Juice", Juvi Guerrera. And the ad nausem Montreal rip-offs.

Okay, reading Death Of WCW finally... where the hell was the angle with Bagwell 'shooting' on people supposed to be leading or supposed to accomplish. I know the obvious answer (nothing), but I'll ask anyway. Apparantly he threw a match against La Parka and then he beat Scotty Riggs with a 'not in the script' small package after they were seen talking over their finish in the back.

My head hurts just typing that.

I don't know where the Bagwell shoots angle was going but I think it somehow led to a "Loser Leaves Town" match with Curt Hennig where Bagwell won and Curt Hennig wrestled again the next night.

Its possible Rock had his "...drink a tall glass of SHUT UP JUICE!" catchphrase used as a attack on Juvi's gimmick.

What do you mean by possible? That's exactly what it was.

Was that ever actually confirmed? I.e. did Rocky ever use the line before Juvi started the Rock ripoff gimmick?

I'm trying to forget about their "exciting" feud with N.W.O. 2000.

Which pretty much culminated in then U.S. Champion and #2 heel in the company, Jeff Jarrett jobbing to George "The Animal" Steele, Tito Santana, and Jimmy Snuka all in one episode of Nitro.

And Jarrett getting a concussion which majorly screwed up a PPV the following weekend.

Hahah- yes, that's right.

And Bret Hart also retired semi-abruptly right before that pay per view (Souled Out 2000). At least Tank Abbott didn't win the title at the pay per view....

Just go to thinking again, when was the last time neither Jerry Lawler nor Jim Ross was commentator on an episode of RAW? Have either one or the other been at the announce table for every show since that one Monday in 1999 when both were filming the Andy Kaufman movie?

Does RAW is Nitro count? (The episode early on in the Invasion, where the main event between Buff Bagwell and Booker T, was announced by Scott Hudson and Arn Anderson)

Now that the Wrestlemania XX main event may be forgotten forever, there is something I've always thought about.

Austin vs. Goldberg. Were there any talks about that match happening? I have no doubt that it would've been the main event for that card and it would draw buyrates, but was there really EVER any serious talk about that match happening?

When was it that they lost that ppv stipulation match and Coachman & Al Snow did Raw for a couple of weeks.

the match was at unforgiven 2003, so the answer is late Sept 2003, I think it lasted all of 2 weeks.
