From 1wrestling...

Sky Digital in Great Britain is close to finalizing a channel that would specialize in only professional wrestling footage.

According to a report on www.1stopwrestling.co.uk, the station would feature New Japan Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, Ring of Honor, Ohio Valley Wrestling and Combat Zone Wrestling, among other promotions.

There are no plans at this time for the station to feature any footage from the WWE libraries.

The station, based out of Ireland, would also feature footage of European based independent promotions. The station, which still does not have a name at this time, is being planned for a September launch.

CZW announced several weeks back they had secured a television deal for Great Britain. When contacted for comment, ROH owner Rob Feinstein confirmed ROH would be involved, but nothing was set in stone further.

More details as we get them, but this could be a boom for non-WWE promotions in Europe.

...well, Great Britian's stock just went up a bit more for me. Do any of you live where you would be able to watch this? If you do, then you can kiss my ass, heh.

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

Well... Rupert Murdoch is trying to buy DirecTV and he owns SKY so there is a possibility.

I keep hearing the rumour over here (UK) too, about some 24/7 wrestling/combat sports type thing. I have also hear that Pro-Wrestling NOAH are really trying to branch out into Europe, maybe even running a few events here.

I can't wait. :P

I will not lie, but if that happend I doubt that I'd ever watch anything else...seriously.

Oh. My. Fucking. God.

For once, I'm glad to be a Brit.

And Downhome, for bringing me this news I will gladly kiss your ass right now, bro.

Woohoo!

I couldn't believe it, and I hope it's true. I suppose that if it happens somewhere else, and becomes succesfull, it just MIGHT come over here to the USA!

Man, I wish I was there. That's gonna cost an inhumane amount of money for the amount of video tapes fans will need to buy

YES! I'm moving back to England in less than two weeks! How much is Sky over there by the way?

My social life would be drastically effected by such a channel. I would never want to leave my room agin.

I can see myself becoming a BIG Puro mark if I didn't have to actually seek it out and buy it since it came on a regular channel.

£16 a month for basic, £31 with sports, £36 with sports and movies.

I don't know if you'll need the sports channels to get the new channel, though - some sports channels are covered by the basic package, and some aren't.

I have heard this as well, and it will make me get Sky Plus (another decoder) that I can just shove in my room.

But...don't be purprised if it becomes a seperate pay channel. Sky know from the WWE PPV's they charge for that wrestling is not 'in' right now, but 'loyal' fans will pay a lot to see wrestling.

If it'll be pay channel, like MUTv or w/ever, then you're looking at a ground breaking £5 a month.

Will a normal satellite dish in the US pick it up from over there?

:headbang: Hell yeah!

It'll definately be a subscription channel on Digital like Setanta, MUTV, etc. I can't wait.

chave: I don't think it'll ruin WWE's business. You think a WWE mark is gonna PAY for something like NOAH, which he has never heard of and won't understand?

Don't say that Vince would "acquire" talent from the feds just to hold them down. Do you want to see Paul London get jobbed to Test or Low Ki jobbed to A Train?

I wonder if my big ass satellite can pick it up?

I get stuff from Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, etc.

I seriously doubt it but it would be cool if it did.

Ok here's the thing. All you U.K.ers need to watch the SHIT out of this show/channel so it can become popular, and some American producers decide to steal it.

I'm serious.

Cheers! I think I may have to invest in Sky with the WWE, English Premier League, and this new wrestling channel.

I'm sure I can manage that

I'm getting seriously worried about my social life/sleeping patterns with this though, I suppose I could nip out while XPW is on but thats about it

Is it September yet?
