Oh, I agree totally. But he's the owner of my team now and therefore I'm down with him.

As far as I'm concerned he's better than John Henry and Wayne Huizenga combined.

What is that? Buy Good Players for a year build up support and then dismantle the team? GREAT winning strategy.

If Florida wins, MLB will further sink down the toilet. Sorry. It's true.

No, that strategy for their last World Series bid.

This strategy would be to slash payroll, trade anyone that might earn a buck or two on the free market.

The Reds organization, a team you're familiar with, is trying this approach already...

You're about six years late.

Get young, talented players via draft and trades and let them mature at the major league level.

I'm still not convinced things have changed in Florida...

But MLB can't afford to have Florida in the World Series for 3 reasons...

1. Lack of Starpower...Willis isn't there yet and The team has that Anaheim feel to it "Spunky Young Careless kids with a sprinkle of old "cast off" vets...Ratings weren't so great last year and Florida isn't a great market either

2. The 1997 Team. People still have bitterness for what Happened to 1997 WS championship team, Baseball purists considered it a disgraceful thing and casual fans considered it another example of how Baseball is merely a business. So if they went that far, some people will still harbor those feelings even if things are different.

3. The Underdog factor. It's dead, The last two World Series were won by the proverbial UNDERDOG and if they were to make it, casual fans won't be as excited to see another case as that appeal isn't there.

I'm convinced.

They have a young, talented 5 man rotation. Their lineup is really clicking right now, everyone is playing their part, with Juan Pierre (203 hits, 64 SB) leading off, and Luis Castillo (187 hits, and an OBP near .400) with some pretty good bats behind them. The oldest player in the lineup is Jeff Conine who has picked up lately, and is only in there because Mike Lowell missed time. With Lowell in the lineup, Ivan Rodriguez is the oldest player in the lineup, and he's only 31. This is a young, talented team that has the chance to be a another Cinderella in the post-season.

And do we REALLY need another fucking cinderalla? It didn't do jack shit for the fans and league last year...Anaheim was equally spunky as Florida is today...

Gotta love during March Madness, people claim to LOVE cinderellas and yet they really don't draw much and no one really stops buying UK or Duke merch instead of 'Zaga merch.

It's the same thing here...People go "ah that's nice" but don't care because it's not "the best".
