Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2003 Out of all of these that I listened to I will put them into either the yay or nay category based on my impression after listening to the album: Yay: David Banner / Mississippi (the Album) / Josh Tyrangiel Eels / Shootenanny / Tom Waits GZA/Genius / Legend of the Liquid Sword / Flea Nick Cave / Noturama / Flea Primal Scream / evil Heat / Josh Homme Royksopp / Melody AM / Josh Tyrangiel Talib Kweli / Quality / Kim Osorio The Streets / Original Pirate Material / Josh Tyrangiel Nay: Beck / Sea Change / Spike Jonze Blur / Think Tank / Spike Jonze Burning Brides / Fall of the Plastic Empire / Perry Farrell Cave In / Antenna / Perry Farrell Coral / The Coral / Chris Martin Hot Hot Heat / Make Up The Breakdown / Josh Homme Interpol / Turn Off the Bright Lights / Cameron Crowe Longwave / Strangest Things / Pete Yorn Pete Yorn / Day I Forgot / Nic Harcourt Radiohead / Hail to the Theif / Spike Jonze Rilo Kiley / The Execution of all Things / Josh Tyrangiel Rooney / Rooney / Perry Farrell Sigur Ros / () / Spike Jonze Squarepusher / Do You Know Squarepusher / The Neptunes Stephen Malkmus + the Jicks / Pig Lib / Josh Tyrangiel The Cramps / Friends of Dope Island / Josh Homme The Libertines / Up The Bracket / Mos Def The Mars Volta / De-Loued in the Comatorium / Flea The Mooney Suzuki / Electric Sweat / Perry Farrell The Music / Music / Perry Farrell Turbonegero / Apocalypse Dudes / Josh Homme Turin Breaks / Ether Song / Dave Matthews Yeah Yeah Yeahs / Fever to Tell / Spike Jonze Out of the yay's, the only ones to get a place in my record collection were: Eels / Shootenanny / Tom Waits Primal Scream / evil Heat / Josh Homme The Streets / Original Pirate Material / Josh Tyrangiel Overall, my favorite one was Nick Cave's. It was the best album on that lists, with Primal Scream and the Streets bering really close. That list comes across as stuff that was being picked by people trying too hard to be indy snobs. rising up out of the back seat-nuh 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2003 Really? The Libertines and Mars Volta albums are my favourites of recent times.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2003 Sorry for dissappointing you. I just couldn't listen to them, let alone get into them. I'm pretty open minded, but a lot of the stuff on that list just irked me.
Guest JebusNassedar Report post Posted August 14, 2003 .... I REALLY shouldnt have to say who I think should win. At least, I hope not. But I'm happy someone at least thought of the Mooney Suzuki. Love that CD. I'm gonna have to look into some of the CDs on there, and will HAVE to buy The Music. You try searching for it on KaZaA Lite.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2003 You don't have to buy The Music. Just go get Physical Graffiti. I've heard half a dozen of their songs and they seem to just ape Zeppelin and write mediocre rock.

jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2003 Moistboyz III and Mit Gas both made the list. I am pleased. The Beck album was alright as was the Mars Volta and Turbonegro's newest one was decent.

Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 You bring up a good point...its a pretty diverse list, but nothing from the loud rock community is represented at all on that list.
