Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2003 At this moment in time, there are many big names who are not involved with Summerslam and there is little room to accommodate them. These names include Big Show, Scott Steiner, Matt Hardy , Test, Lance Storm, Goldust, Jamie Noble, Billy Gunn, Zach Gowen, Tajiri and the APA. The Big Show has had a strong year, with high publicised feuds with both Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar, which is why it comes as a surprise that he is not involved with the show. Zach Gowen is another, who over the past months has been pushed strongly only to be left out of the line-up. Matt Hardy is yet another who deserves a spot on the card, but as it looks now, he will not receive one. Credit: Prowrestling.com Tajiri is a mix-up right now as it has been going off and on if he's going to be added to the US Title Triple Threat match or not. And I'm glad we won't be seeing APA Vs. TWGTT for the WWE Tag Titles as I have dreaded before. As for Matt Hardy's situation, damn you Vince!
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2003 The Matt Hardy situation is really sad. He watches everyones matchs, studies tapes, came up with a gimmick that got him over as the talented Hardy, made a deal with Satan evidently to improve his mic skills, and because he made some comments about the creative team and got on Johnny Aces's bad side he constantly gets f'd over. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I thought a Gowen/Hardy problem was a lock for SumSlam?
SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I'm glad Gowen won't be at SS. I did think too that a Matt Hardy/Zach Gowen match was inevitable. As for Steiner and Test *hopefully* that angle will be finished off next week on Raw. Lance Storm and Goldust haven't been in their current situation long enough to build much excitement over what they're doing. Billy Gunn and Big Show would just bring down the event so its best they weren't there. It's really sad that Matt isn't going to be at the PPV. If he was going to take on Zach Gowen at SS I think it'd be best for his career that he wouldn't be in the event in such an irrelevant feud.
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I can't remember where I heard it, but I think the average payoff for a lowercard match on one of the big PPVs is between 8-12 thousand. So by not being on the card they are taking money away from the talent and by not being on PPV come off as being lesser than the people who are on PPV all the time. Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted August 15, 2003 John Cena should be added to that list, because really, what will (or can) he do to get on the card?
SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 Yeah its bad that those guys won't be there because they're not going to get paid, however, I don't see any reason is putting all those guys on the card just so they can get paid. They can't put all of those guys on the card because it will bring down the over quality of the PPV. There will be too many matches that don't have enough hype or purpose. Guys like Matt Hardy really should have a match because he gets so much crowd reaction. Lance Storm and Goldust though have just started an angle and they aren't even feuding with anyone so there's no reason for them to be on the PPV unless its a back stage scene. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 Well you can scratch Tajiri off that list. He's in the US Title match now at SummerSlam.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I would say odds are probably good that we'll see Storm & Goldust in a tag together on Heat.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 But...Cena beat Taker!!! Am I to understand that this is meaningless???????
starvenger 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I would say odds are probably good that we'll see Storm & Goldust in a tag together on Heat. The 'Big 4' PPVs should have some 'inter-brand' (intermural?) matches. Why not have StormDust face Matt Hardy and his MFer?
KTID 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 Your all making a big deal out of Matt Hardy, hell his names even in bold, and fair enough he deserves a spot on the card. BUT Out of the guys listed, Lance Storm, Jamie (K)noble and Tajiri (I know, hes on it now) are much better and Goldusts about on par. Thats not to mention John Cena, TWGTT, and worst of all, apparantly the Rey/Kidman match won't take place either (I haven't seen Smackdown! yet so I don't know). And, how did you manage to not mention the biggest name of all, who was in a high profile match at the last PPV, who main events this weeks Smackdown! and whos frequently in high profile angles every week, and...dare I say it...SHES A HOSS!!! BAH GAWD ITS STEPHANIE!!!
EricMM 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 Actually MF'ers vs. DustStorm is a good idea. Get DustStorm over against some heels. I approve
Guest Sakura Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I don't see the big deal with keeping Matt of the card. He is never on ppvs anyway.
syxx2001 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 The last PPV Hardy was on was WM 19, unless you count being in the APA brawl a spot on PPV.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted August 15, 2003 That's like 5 months ago. Before Mania was No Way Out and before that was...I can't even remember. Judgment Day 2002? Matt not making it to a PPV is not anything to be worked up about.
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 They obviously don't want to load too many names on the PPV, because the more people on a PPV, the more Big Checks they have to sign. Don't know if anyone's thought about this, but by having TV-only feuds and angles that hit PPV at their climax, they can have longer angles, rotate the midcard crew, and most importantly have less people to pay for each month's PPV. Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I'm still thinking they will bite the bullet and gun for TSPWGTT Vs Filthy Animals 2/3 falls match...or just another Rematch. Tajiri makes his first ANNOUNCED non Rumble PPV since when ? Has to be a LONG time ago...I'm talking late 2001. John Cena program less is a damn fucking digust...Regardless of what you think of the guy...He is a Big Heel right now and shouldn't be used for nothing...Unless they go Jericho Slam1999 with Him... U guys not might not agree but it's almost pathetic that one of the *VERY* few credible heels in the recent months aside from Eddy, Angle,Cena, Matt and Lesnar...THE BIG SHOW is suddenly program less and once again a side part with A-Train and Lesnar...This guy just headlined 2 ppvs in the last 4 months (JD and Venagence) and now he's off? Storm/Dust? Who cares...They are just starting their program let it grow...who said they were even tag partners? The Real question is what will they do with the I.C title...The plan WAS for a 4 Way with Book/X/Test/Steiner but Booker's injury killed that... Likely Hurricane/X will be Heatified. Why is APA even concerned? Are they evena Tag team anymore? I thought they were just comedy breaks...
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 Well, seeing as how there are only three matches from Smackdown on the card thus far, obviously at least some of the people from the list will be added. While I like Matt as much as the next guy, I think that he's gonna have to be satisfied with being on brand-exclusive PPVs, as he just isn't a big enough star to justify a spot on a card as loaded as Summerslam. The real question is what will the fourth match from Smackdown be? Will Rey Rey and Kidman get a spot? Will TWGTT get on the show? How about Cena or Big Show. To be honest, I think that with all the Smackdown talent that's not scheduled for Summerslam, putting Gowen/Hardy on the show would be a huge copout.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 15, 2003 and A-Train is? TSPWGTT/Filthy Animals is the likely if any...the fourth match
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 It would be pretty cheap to have the Filthy Animals get another title shot after they just lost twice in a row. I think if they were getting a title shot at Summerslam, they wouldn't have jobbed clean on Smackdown.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 15, 2003 You can always do the ONE LAST SHOT EVER! stipulation...
SteakGrowsOnUecker 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I just anticipating them losing again and breaking up and feuding over the CW Title. Maybe this could happen at SS
Fökai 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 Tajiri makes his first ANNOUNCED non Rumble PPV since when ? Has to be a LONG time ago...I'm talking late 2001. No Mercy 2002, against Jamie Noble. Show will join other credible heels in Cena and Hardy, on the sidelines for the PPV... While the focus of two matches are being put on TWO McMahons and Eric Bischoff. Guest Goodear Report post Posted August 15, 2003 Hardy still has a chance of blowing off the whole Zach Gowan thing on PPV so he's not completely out of the running as of yet. BTW, is it me or is Gowan just a whole lot more enjoyable to watch bumping like a complete freak in the undercard? I don't even know what they could do with Cena at this point. A match with an undercarder like Spanky isn't going to help him anymore and all the uppercarders either have more important issues now or just finished feuds with him. So I don't know where you would stick John other than in a little promo role.
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I think Cena should start a program against pretty much anybody in the US Title picture. It's not main event but it gives him a chance to actually win a few matches and I think a couple of more matches with Eddy and Benoit couldn't do anything but help Cena get a little bit better.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I can see that, but I'm talking about this pay per view.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 15, 2003 I know AS will throw a bitch fit but Seperate Angle and Lesnar some and keep that angle brewing...That's if Lesnar goes over at Slam... And Bring up the Angle/Cena fued that Angle wanted to do...
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2003 Problem with Cena vs Angle is that until Brock and Angle are done all else will come off as secondary to it. Another tainted victory isn't gonna help Cena out if it's just Brock run-in after Brock run-in.
Guest Fook Report post Posted August 15, 2003 If they're not going to go with Lesnar/Angle, they could try a six-man to get more guys on the card. You could have Lesnar, Big Show, and Cena vs Angle, Spanky, and Ultimo. It gets these guys on ppv and they could build it up like Vince and Lesnar are stacking the deck against Angle by teaming with wrestlers who are perceived to be jobbers and putting them against three main event heels.
