The "development boys"

Cena, Batista, Orton, Brock, Shelton, Hass, Rosey, O'Haire (kinda), Jindrak and anyone else I'm missing. Who's doing better/worse/or about the same as you expected. In my eyes, he's the best, he's WAY over as a heel, his mic skills are great for what he has to do, the crowd always seem to get into hating him. I'd put him over Brock because I still don't feel Brock is as over as he should be for the push he has been given. I think he's #1

Out of the ones I've listed here's the one's that are doing better/or worse than I expected.

Cena - WAY better, I HATED his gimmick when he first came in, although Angle made some of his matches fun to watch. He's in the WAY better category.

Batista - WORSE only because first he was stuck with Deacon bullshit, then he was Evolution bitch boy, now he's on the DL, could've been the monster heel on smackdown while Brock was on RAW, but they fucked it up!

Orton - Again WAY better, coming in he basically had the same gimmick as Cena, bland, vanilla, rookie. His move to RAW I think was a good one, there for a while all the OVW boys were going to Smackdown. He was bland, he injury (much like another 3 gen. superstar) helped him out a lot. The RNN stuff was classic. I so marked out when he interupted Shawn at S. Series with an RNN update. He's in Evolution now, and he's still better than he's rookie persona, although his sarcasm isn't as strong, or as good as it was during the RNN era, he's still more than tolerable, get rid of his finisher and I'd say in my eye's he'd be as good as Cena or Brock. I'd still rank him as #3

Brock: When he first came to RAW I was so marking for him. I love his gimmick almost a HEEL Bill Goldberg winning streak thing. Him winning the KOTR I totally disagreed with, I think he should have had a few more mid card feuds, atleast one or two more before they push him up to the title. Then the next thing I know he's going over Rock for the title, still with VERY little heat, then he's turning face with SOME HEAT as a face, although I think that was more or less him beat up Paul Heyman that got him over the most, that and feuding with THE BEST heel in the business Kurt Angle. Still number two, just because with all the men he's gone over Rock, Taker, Angle, Hogan, he should be MAD over. Cena has gone over WHAT big names? And I'd say he's just as over as a heel (if not more) than Brock is as a face.

Shelton and Hass: These guys were great under Team Angle although it wasn't hard to get over being with the most hated man in wrestling at the time. I think their coming into their own now and showing they MAY be the best tag team in the country. Thats a big MAY though. Great workers, decent on the stick, starting to come into their own.

Rosey: S.H.I.T, nuff said about him. Without his partner, brother, whatever he is, there is no chance of him getting over in my opinion. They were SEMI over when they were the monster HEEL tag team, then they took this monster HEEL team and had someone truly evil manage them.........Rico! It was ALL downhill from there. So S.H.I.T describes what he's in now.

O'Haire: I always thought he could be mad over, good looking guy, ripped, big, has a special look to him, above average worker. I even thought they struck gold with his "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know" but they blew their wad on that when they let fucking Piper back in the WWE. He turned into a Goth bitch? How the fuck did that happen? So its back down to the OVW for him I bet. So he's dissapointing, just not his fault.

I'd love your thoughts and opinions. I think I'm pretty much on track with everyone when it comes to that, but I want as many people as possible to give their opinions on these, and any guys I missed.

Cena- Has worked out, although his in ring improvement has stalled, and he needs a shot in the arm. He's made great gains and he looks like an eventual main eventer.

Benjamin and Haas- Can't say enough about these two. In a world full of bland OVWers these two have made themselves the exception that proves the rule. Still a bit green, but I see big things for them in the future. Shelton is my pick for the next great pure worker.

Orton- His push has pissed off smarks all over, and I can't say he's earned such a push. Somehow got on JRs good side, and they'll make him a main eventer whether he deserves it or not. Just like O'Haire, I think his "Charisma" only works on the slick video packages

Batista- hmmm, my jury's still out

Brock- has somehow warmed over both the crowds and the critics, and has proved a credible champion and worker. His feud with Angle coulda been epic, but the writers botched Angle's end of the feud, and kinda hurt the effect. Big things in the future for him.

Rosey- get rid of this guy already. They (with Jamal) were given plenty right off the bat, and they fucked it up.

O'Haire- yikes! Slick vignettes manufactured a type of charisma, and even smarks salivated in anticipation of his debut. When we got O'Haire, we were severely deflated, and his "brawl" with Rikishi ventured into negative stars. Looks like a main eventer, but sure as hell can't back it up. the WWE style took away his only redeeming value ( limited top rope abilities) and things don't look very bright in the future.

with the exception of TWGTT (where'd they learn that) most of these guys are fucking Vanilla, and hey, I hate them.

At least Cena might get over w/ mic stuff. Dunno about Bautista ...

You forgot JR's boy Nathan Jones, but he's worth forgetting.

I'm really impressed with how good Haas and Benjamin are.

Likewise with Cena. He's showed that he wants to be around the business maineventing for a long time.

Orton has showed amazing improvement from when he was face last year.

Brock is main eventing so it seems everything has worked out.

O'Haire is still a bundle of potential.

Batista was good while he wasn't injured. But he's been injured more than he's been healthy.

Rosey is just now starting to take off and we might get to see if he has what it takes to do some singles stuff.

Jindrak can deliever a drop kick. Thats about all I've seen from him. Constant drop kicks so I'm not impressed yet.

I'm amazed everyone forgot about the Bashams. Then again, should I be? For two of the longest mainstays of OVW, the Bashams looked EXTREMELY vanilla coming out on Smackdown.

Can we blame them? I say no. Doug Basham's "Machine" persona was all they needed to make him a midcard heel. Add this to his above average technical skills and you have a legit contender to any established worker. I hear his matches with Benoit are some of the best and deservedly so.

Doug Basham, aka Damaja, unfortunately, didn't quite have the same intensity as his "brother". Damaja's too goofy-looking to be a legit heel, I suppose.

So what happens now? Simple. Give them masks. Make them Mortis' sidekicks. They will rule.

Benjamin and Haas are what their tag team name describe, they are IMO the best tag team curently with the now defunct XXX just before them.

They are moves are very innovative and both can work a tag team match with good psychology although i can see Haas is still a little not up to the standard of Benjamin.

Watching their match makes me wonder why OVW guys like Cena, Orton, Batista, O'Haire can be so vanilla and have such bland movesets when Benjamin and Haas are busting out awesome moves.

You actually view Benjamin and Haas as better than XXX? I would say XXX is better than them but they are easily second best. But since XXX is defunct we can say ....well we can say whatever we what.....I saw Benjamin live last year. He was great and he was the onyl thing that made the match e was in good. It was Justin Credible/Somebody vs. Tommy Dreamer/Shelton Benjamin I believe. Or it maye have just been Credbile vs. Benjamin...DAMMIT i cant remember, anyway, he really stood out compared to the other WWE mid/lower-carders.

See I think the reason people look at Cena as being "vanilla" is because he came in with the same exact gimmick that Orton and a few other of the OVW guys came in with. I agree his moveset isn't "off the hook" but I think its solid enough that with a little work he could become a main eventer.

and RVD Mark I was talking about Cena in that quote you pasted. I'm not saying he's the best, I just think he's the most improved since getting in from OVW. TWGT, are great, but they were pretty good when they came in.

I think i phrased my opinion wrongly, i meant that Benjamin and Haas was right before XXX.

Haas and Benjamin over AMW? Ewww. Its hard to say whos better out of XXX/AMW/THAGSW or whatever they are called (Thats the best name they could come up with?) but if I had to choose, I'd say AMW.

Cena - He's entertaining. Wont get far with the rap gimmick. No one is gonna take a rap champion seriously past the US title. And him going over the Taker has done nothing for his career thus far. He goes over Taker, fights Gowen the next week, seems to be off of Summerslam. WHAT A PUSH. B+

Batista - I like his look, if he was a little bigger I could take him serious as a big monster, but he is short. Sorta like some other wrestler, I cant think of the name right now. So far he has failed, not his fault tho. D

Orton - He is popular because......I feel like the summer is in repeat from last year. His push makes me want to throw up everything I had for lunch. His work is boring, his charisma is boring, overall, he is boring. C

Lesnar - I prefer him as a heel over face. A person like him should never be a face because his brute power intimidates people. And the Spanky squash was cool. But I would rather not have someone else (Vince) force me to like him. B+

Haas and Benjy - Great tag team, got over quicker than expected and even have managed to avoid Velocity.....A

Rosey - S.H.I.T.T.Y.. His character sucks, the 3 minute warning thing was only so good the first 2 times. Him and Hurricane can go jump off a bridge for all I care, their gimmicks suck. D

O'Haire - Has potential. But Vince doesn't see that. O'Haire is a great wrestler and was great for someone green and a tag champ back in WCW. Since Piper left, he has left Smackdown and makes the occasional Velocity appearence. Might find a home in TNA under the New Church banner. Maybe. D

Mack - Sucks. Looks whiter than a Barry Manaloe concert, but is playing a black gimmick. One that isn't entertaining once Teddy Long puts down the mic. D

Jindrak - Never was the better one out of the two and it still shows. He also looks gay and. straight outta seventeez. F

Cena - *snip* And him going over the Taker has done nothing for his career thus far.

That's because they haven't shown he can beat Taker on his own. The matches have consisted of Taker kicking his ass, w/ minimal offense from Cena. Cena only wins after outside interference takes out or weakens Taker.

I can't believe everybody forgot Rico. He didn't debut until after Brock. And how about Orlando Jordan? He's a new guy too.

Your forgetting the Le Resistence boys. I would give them a D just because they are better than Randy Ortan at doing the evil pose.

I think Orlando Jones is on FX.
