Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted August 18, 2003 But I hope Rob's aware that they'd probably bury him and job him out to Mark Jindrak on Heat before he's handed his release. as opposed to...? at least if he's buried on Heat no one will know. (rumor has it the RVD burial starts tonight)
Guest TheGame2705 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 I would say they aren't pushing RVD because he injured HHH but Brock Lesnar's a walking safety hazard and he's gotten alot further along. I can't even hate on Rob for this.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Van Dam's career has been in a free fall since about June 2002, when they jobbed him to Lesnar at KOTR. This had to be one of those truly retarded booking moves, and I will never understand it. One of those situations where they couldn't see the forest for the trees. They were so preoccupied with getting Lesnar over huge that they didn't even think that RVD winning KOTR and beating the Rock at SS would have worked better and drawn more money to boot. As far as some of the stuff he said here, well, I don't see why he wants to stay on Raw. A change of atmosphere would do him a lot of good, and SMDN would offer a bunch of different guys to feud with. And yeah, this whole interview basically sounds like he doesn't give a shit if they fired him tomorrow.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 I'd like to point at the part about being limited to 2-3 moves per show for all those "He only does 3 moves" "Its not the WWE holding him back, its him" people.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 I would say they aren't pushing RVD because he injured HHH but Brock Lesnar's a walking safety hazard and he's gotten alot further along. I can't even hate on Rob for this. Other than Bob Holly and the A-Train near-miss, who else has he hurt?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Himself. Other than HHH, RVD's only busted people open....and no injury he has caused has been NEARLY as severe as the one Lesnar did. I also don't think that most of the HHH ones should count (any really outside of the chamber one) since he is a prissy little girly man.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 I never saw the one in the Chamber. Didn't Rob hit the cage or something while doing the frog splash and that put him off. Once again. I have no idea as i have never seen the match.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 He jumped off of one of the little holding cells and couldn't jump as high as he thought he could so he had to adjust and ended up hitting HHH's throat with his shin.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 I should add that not only did HHH finish the match but he had just enough voice left to say "RVD...NO...On...Next...Pay Per View-uh" when he got backstage.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 I could understand WWE not pushing RVD to the f'n moon for his selling/working faults, and maybe even his attitude (WWE likes compliant kiss-asses). However, to not use him often as a high-profile midcarder is inexcusable considering how over he's been, even now. (Well, I guess the Kane feud kind of counts, but it's the first time in a long time, and RVD's gonna job) I guess he's so unhappy with WWE that he figures he's not going to sign an extention (which would be for less money than he's making now of course), and he figures he'd might as well get things off his chest now. Ripper 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Am I the only one that realizes that selling is more than limping around after someone hits your leg. RVD sells the impact of moves and punches probably better than anyone in the company(okay, guys like Kendrick and Spike are up there two), and that is the type of selling that matters to the general public. How about this. It is IMPOSSIBLE for RVD to have anything resembling a match while selling a knee. Impossible. Every move in his WWE approved moveset is running/jumping. It just plain isn't smart to even use a knee as a selling point for him if you want him to put on a entertaining match. And as he has said time and time again, he cares about entertaining the fans first. There have been times I have been like "Oh, come on Rob, he worked your shoulder for 5 minutes" and yes that is a problem, but to say the guy can't sell is only looking at one aspect. And I STILL to this day have yet to see anyone come up with a real defense for why NO ONE besides the Rock EVER sells his entire offense focuses on the ribs to set up the Frog Splash. EVERY move that he does from rolling thunders, to the shoulder charges, split legged moonsaults, sentons, leg drop across the ribs. They all go for the ribs, yet no one ever even slightly sells them during a match (except the Rock).
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 If people avoided working RVD's legs 99% of the problem would go away just like that. He obviously needs his legs for his comebacks...as every single one of his moves involves his legs big time. Of course the only person who really goes out there and beats on his legs for 15 minutes is HHH.
jester 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 The whole "RVD doesn't sell" thing is just an excuse anyway. There is only one reason why RVD isn't getting pushed. WWE doesn't want to push him. They will look for anything that justifies that stance and ignore everything else. The end.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Meltzer said it best when it comes to that topic. WWE has to stop looking for reasons to not give fans what they want...and start playing to people's strenghts and not exposing their weaknesses for whatever agenda they have. There are far too few believable main eventers (what is there...2 on Raw? If we pretend Goldberg counts.) to start burying potential ones for no reason. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Aahhh!!! I can't believe I forgot to say this the first time I posted: "For a guy who can't cut a promo to save his life...he sure does give the most entertaining interviews" Seriously...no one else flying the company banner will give you this much. Except Austin...and that didn't end well.
Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Report post Posted August 18, 2003 WWE knows that RVD has the qualities to be a main eventer, they make him main event house shows and on RAW but he is not good enough to main event a ppv? That's bullshit, Vince will milk RVD for all he is worth as long as he doesn't let him shine on the spotlight. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 HAHAHAHAHAHA That reminds me... has Trish won a match since her "fake" interview? Her team won a Divas tag match when she beat Gail Kim, I think. House shows, maybe--not that they count.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Why would WWE even let RVD have an interview? I know it was orginally to promote his comic store, but you just know that Rob would speak out. He spoke out of freakin' Byte This, WWE's own internet show, for god sakes.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Could be that Rob is just working the smarks and everyone in the WWE is in on this sort of thing.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 I seriously doubt it. RVD is speaking his mind, but hasn't gone totally off on anyone to the point of getting fired (not yet anyway). I mean he has made some veiled remarks that sound anti HHH but he hasn't come right out and said "HHH is an asshole, he can blow me." See, RVD is just voicing discontent when being asked about it, but he hasn't really gone off on anyone in particular. Whereas Hogan used to go on shows and badmouth people like Kidman (I'm still not sure how much of that was work and shoot).
