godthedog 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2003 i'm not afraid to admit it; I LOVED 'CHICAGO'. i love the artifice of it. the sheer energy the whole movie exudes is just amazing. the whole last half of the movie, i could not stop smiling. the acting is incredible in its own stagey way that totally moves away from the more subdued, realistic trend that's been going on forever. the writing is clever as hell. most of the musical numbers fit in perfectly, and in their own strange way don't suspend your disbelief. the choreography is impressive, the editing is pretty mind-blowing, it's just fucking fun to watch. pure showmanship and spectacle, done amazingly well. if people can turn their brains off to watch people blow shit up and spout off cheesy dialogue that no one in the real world would ever be caught dead saying, why can't people turn their brains off to watch people singing and dancing while they kill and stab each other in the back? © snkt
