Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 I'm laughing my ass off right now over the last few posts in this thread. Is that a bad thing? My faction was Goldberg/RVD/Hardy/Hurricane/Keibler, if anyone cares. Out For Revenge kicked all sorts of ass!
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Considering that you have been shitting on the game many months before the release, Sakura, I'm not surprised that you don't like it, but am surprised that you bought it. I start work tomorrow, so its going to be several weeks before I get the game.. I have been playing the hell out of SYM to hype myself up for HCTP... keep the nuggets of info coming, people. Ki Krusher 99 made it into the game? Yes.... my SYM CAW Low-Ki was so damned dangerous, it wasn't even funny... now having a move or two patented by him is going to really complete him.... 16 grapple moves.... damn, thats out and out crazy.... just remembering the moves in the heat of a match is going to be a challenge. Not really... If you think about it. You just pull off moves that mostly affect the area of the body that your finisher works on. Hence, if it works against the head, use head moves. And so forth. That right there would cut your moveset to about 6-8 moves. Give or take. Nah, I know myself well enough to know that I am going to want to use every move in a match, once I get used to the learning curve... Hell, right now I have been obsessing over the CAW Legion of Doom and the British Bulldogs movesets to the point of ridiculousness.... in LoD's case, I went back to Wrestlefest to complete the movesets.... I know I need HCTP now... this is getting bad, even for me.
fazzle 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Did anyone else see that or do you have to be Cena? I saw it too, and I was Jericho. In my season as Cena now, I got a title shot in the EC at Survivor Series. My first title shot at either title in *19* months in the game. And the EC? Was the worst chamber ever. Lesnar(champ) Cena Edge Mysterio, ok, sounds decent right now, right? The last two combatants... Lance Storm and Val Venis? What the fuck? The final 2 ended up being myself and Brock, and we had a helluva ending sequence. We both went through glass, both missed moves off the cages, and both kicked out of each other's finisher. The ending came when I blocked the F5, hit Lesnar with the FU, and got the pin! The next Smackdown, Vince comes out, and after months of backing me and making the match SPECIFICALLY so I could have a good shot at the title, he decides I'm not championship material and wants to take me out. IT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE How realistic

Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 I have ONE complaint about this game, one. When you finally have a CAW, and you wrestle other guys with them or you try a career with them, it's hard as hell. Their stats are so low that if you face someone stronger than you (just about everyone in the game) you will have your hands full. I pray to God that there is another way to improve a CAW's stats other than by career. Yeah, the only way I see to improve a CAW's stats is by doing a career with each of them. It was like that in SYM, but it sounds like the difficulty has been increased by order of magnitude.... I remember when I first made my namesake CAW and he had about 60 superstar points and got in a match against The Rock, who had 90+. The match lasted maybe a minute before he laid me out with the Rock DDT 2. I don;t mind if its hard. Even exceedingly hard. It makes it all the sweeter when you actually pull off upsets and the like. Remember, using CAWs against established characters, pound on their ass with attack moves... when you think they MIGHT be down, pound on them more. Think before you go for a grapple, because it is most likely going to be reversed. And set up your moves when you create so that you can do combos (I know its more of a fighting game strategy, but when you stack the moves just right, its helps a LOT). the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Yeah, I enjoyed that. Vince: Matt Hardy, you just beat everyone in my faction (Benoit,Eddie,Brock,Show,UT) in one match, but you aren't championship material. But this man is....Chris Benoit. WTF?!? Yes he couldn't get the job done with 4 faction members, so he is obviously in line for a one on one title match.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 I wish I could find a better way to do a SD by the OS Taker, because everytime that I get someone in posistion for his Tombstone, it's always IN THE FUCKING ROPES. What's the best way to get someone lined up for a SD? I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but, when they're laying down, just hold O and pull them towards the center of the ring. Then, pick them up, give them a toe kick(down-right and X), and do your Smackdown Special. Damnit, I can't believe that. Thank you. Cmon, DH, if you played SYM for any length of time, the toe kick is the one necessary move in your chara's moveset... if always sets up a SD. Its a necessity. Yes, I obviously did that in SYM, but I totally forgot about it. I haven't played SYM in months, maybe six months or so by now. That's why I said "damnit", I remember it when I read that post, heh. Downhome 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 So here I am, trying to edit OS Taker's music and entrance, and I get a huge ass laugh. So much of a laugh that I spit my drink out into the floor simply because of how shocked I was at this funny event, which just came out of nowhere. I'm going down through the list of original entrances, and I get to the one where the character walks down to the ring like a ballerina. There is just something about seeing the Dead Man dancing his lil' heart out.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Ah its okay, DH.. I'm just primed to get this damned game.... There are other moves that will stun an opponent long enough for a Smackdown, but the toe kick is by far the most reliable.

Bored 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Anyone have their game freeze during season mode? Mine just did after a tag match during the faction angle with me being Matt Hardy & John Cena vs. Undertaker & Brock Lesnar in the 1st week of November. Match ended and the screen went to black like it was going to the load screen but just stayed on black. Good thing that they have the new autosave feature at the end of every month so its just one week lost but damn it was a 20 minute match. Hope this doesn't become a frequent thing. A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Heh, my faction was Dangerous by Design...and it started out ok... I picked up Scott Steiner, becuase I needed a muscle.. then Jobber Train came in..I say this because he is so the weak link in the stable. Then Torrie became the manager. But then Vince came back with Angle, Edge, Rey, and Lita...against me (about 68 at this point) two hosses, and a ditz of a blond. Things got a little better when Show joined their side, and then Goldberg showed up on mine. I loved spraying milk at Kurt, though. And making his bloody ass pass out to the almighty full nelson at No Mercy. That was an intense match.

This happend every now and then with my SYM game as well. It hasn't done it for at least a good 7 months, but when I first got the game it did it after I played for excessive amounts of time in one sitting. No idea why, but it eventually went away never to return again. UYI
Invictus 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 (edited) Well, picked up the game today. I'm addicted, which is a bad thing because I have other important stuff to do. I started doing my first season with Steve Austin, and I've started a small stable so far with just Rey Mysterio. I already hate Brock Lesnar in this game. Damn it, one F5, two tops and everyone and anyone is put down for good. Meanwhile, I'm giving out stunner's like they're halloween candy and Lesnar shakes them off. Sadly, as I should have guessed by the name of this game, the Yuke's developers must have a collective boner for Brock, because he is way too powerful. I'm already champ as Steve Austin by the way, and I just finished my first month in Season mode at my first major successful title defense against Kurt Angle in a ladder match. Good stuff. A small thing I noticed, which I thought was a really nice touch (maybe someone else has already mentioned this or it's old news) but when the Rock does the People's Elbow more than once in a match, he reaches for his bare elbow first, and realizes there is no elbow pad there. Then he goes to the other arm and throws that one into the crowd. I just thought that was a really nice touch. Edited October 31, 2003 by Invictus
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Lesnar may be powerful, but at least its justified (i.e. He can lift THE BIG SHOW over his head). HHH, however, has a speed rating (so I've been told) of a whopping 8. Now I'm no HHHater, but THAT is defining 'unrealistic' in every sense of the word. HHH - "Uh...RVD isn't going to be able to beat me in this thing is he? Better jack my stats up some more" UYI
Guest cpac Report post Posted October 30, 2003 There are alot of nice touches in this game. One is how eddie g. puts his feet on the ropes if you pin someone near the ropes. Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 I NEED HELP!!! (minor story spoilers) I'm playing as Old Skool Taker in Season. I started the ministry with Kane, Booker, and Trish (pretty bad members, but eh). I'm feuding with the corporation (HHH, Jericho, Jazz, Storm and Vince). Well, the feud is at it's climax at No Mercy. It's a last man standing match for the title and it's on Smackdown difficulty. We're both busted open, and we've hit finishers on each other about 25 times. I started the match at 8:30, and it's a little past 9:15 now. He hasn't kept me down past a 4 count (it's cool when Taker sits up~), and I've gotten him to a 7 count. I've down literrally EVERYTHING I could do to him. Chairs, tables, Sledge, everything. Any pointers on how I can beat him? Well, after a whopping HOUR long match, Trips beat me with a Pedigree. I was undefeated with Old Taker too. I just can't seem to get the title.

dubq 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 I just finished my season with Brock Lesnar last night. After purposely failing as Mr. McMahon's hitman, I cleared my schedule and was able to transfer to RAW. From there, in my first match, I kicked Goldberg's ass for the IC title. Mind you, at this point there was only one month left in my season, so the rest of the month was a mini-feud with Goldberg, culminating with a crazy-long Last Man Standing match where I bloodied the hell outta the G-Man. Another funny thing of note I noticed, over on Smackdown, the undefeated Cruiser champ RODDY PIPER ended up defeating Undertaker for the WWE Title! I didn't make it onto WM, but Coach told me that neither did he, so we should go to dinner and dream about next year's WM. I think he was hitting on me... Wierd thing. I started a new season as Ted DiBiase and now for some reason it's giving me an option to SKIP whenever I have a match to fight.. it never did this with Lesnar. I also notice that DiBiase takes FOREVER to build up his SD meter... is it just him or are the Legends weak by design?
dubq 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 One thing I have been wondering that I haven't seen asked is - MATT FACTS. Are there any in this game? Simple yes or not is sufficient, as giving examples shall detract from the overall novelty of it for us late SD! players. UYI I've used Matt once so far and the Matt Fact I got was "Matt only drinks low fat chocolte milk."

dubq 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2003 Ok, guys, sorry for post-whoring.. but I have a comment and a question. Comment: I don't really mind about having to build up CAW's over several seasons, because I usually only make my one CAW from back in the WM2000 N64 days and that's it. Question: I unlocked all the arenas. Including RAW B & Smackdown B. I was assuming that they'd be the Old old school versions of the arenas [ie: Smackdown's Ovaltron, etc] but for the life of me I cannot notice a difference. Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?
