Melnyk officially purchases Senators

Recommended Posts

Man, not even 5 minutes into his ownership and Bettman's holding Melnyk down. Impressive...

You know, I'm amazed Bettman has managed to patch the league together till the work stoppage of 2004.

What I wanna know is whoever buys the Buffalo Sabres, shall they be held down even worse than Melnyk or get roughshod over everyone as the new owner will be hailed as a martyr for buying the team.

C'mon, I don't think I've ever made a bankruptcy joke about the Sens, so it's not the one thing we could make fun of. The Sens still have to prove they can beat the Leafs in the playoffs.

I wonder if Barron is still going to call them Team Bankruptcy.

They would have played/beaten Toronto this year in the playoffs, had Toronto advanced.

Well since they are no longer Team Bankruptcy- they're back to being called the Ottawa Senators.

And we don't know that maxpower- Everyone that Ottawa would beat Toronto two years ago.

I'm glad the Senators have found an owner- It would've suck if they had to move or cut payroll

I was willing to bet that neither team in the Philly v. Toronto series would last much longer in the playoffs. A grueling, physical 7 game series, and then you turn around and have to play against a faster, deeply talented team? I'm surprised Philly even won two games in that series.

Ottawa is going to win it all soon.

You should check out the Devils DVD Max.

The third period of Game 7 of Devils v. Senators is an extra. Just thought you'd enjoy that.

Who knows if Toronto would've been on a momentum high and carried it into Ottawa. Toronto always seems to beat Ottawa no matter what the circumstances

I put a hole in my wall when I threw my hockey puck when the Devils scored with two minutes left.

I was going to buy that DVD though. Do they cover the entire playoffs, or just the Devils? I ask because I was incredibly bored by Jersey v. Boston and Jersey v. Tampa, but the rest of those rounds were OK.

I don't have it- I just read the back of the DVD.

I have the Devils video from a few years ago and it just covers the Devils. So if you want an indepth recap of Devils v. Boston- this is the DVD for you.

Oh and Whoopi Goldberg is the narrator. No I don't know why

Man, the Devils sure bring in the celebrities, eh?

Joe Piscapo, Whoopi Goldberg, who's next? Anthony Michael Hall?

Probably DDP.

And the one thing Maple Leaf fans could hold over Senators fans is gone...bankruptcy jokes.

Isn't Melnyk a pharmaceuticals guy? We can just switch to drug jokes then...

Toronto MIGHT have beaten Ottawa, but that really depends on how much of a psychological edge the Leafs might have gotten from constantly beating the Sens in the playoffs. Still, the result would have been the same - Sens in 6 or 7.

They don't need anybody else, Joe Piscopo hosting the victory "parade" in the Meadowlands parking lot is more than enough material.
