Ripper Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I saw this movie yesterday. Interesting. It goes on the list of movies that I would have enjoyed more if I didn't figure the whole thing out in 15 minutes. I knew who the killer was 10 minutes in and knew the big "OHHHHHHH" moment 5 minutes later. I don't think most people would catch this though and I think it is a very enjoyable movie. Whatcha all think about it.
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I never understand people who figure things out so quickly in movies. I thought this movie actually did a good job of keeping it a mystery. I'm sorry but you honestly thought: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Oh these are all his split personalities 20 minutes into the film? They didn't even touch on anything that would hint that in that part of the film. And I can maybe understand figuring out: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): That the kid was the killer personality early on because he was around when each thing went down, but most people didn't figure that out I thought it was a very original film and I'm definitely getting it soon.
Ripper Posted September 3, 2003 Author Report Posted September 3, 2003 Spoiler (Highlight to Read): The second that the showed the judge the notebook, before the fat guy was even wheeled in, I knew that they were all personalities of his...since the guy said that this notebook shows obviously many different personalites. Now the kid being the killer, when he got his mother hit by the car...dead give away. They almost got me changing my mind to Ray Liotta later but then they killed the kid offscreen and we all know that if you don't see them die in a horror movie, it didn't happen. I will definately be buying it due to its pure insanity and how it makes you think. And it is hard to resist the big teeth of Jake Busey.
LaParkaYourCar Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Well under that reasoning wouldn't: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): the lady who was blown up with the car have a possibility to be alive? Because that's how the kid was supposedly "killed" Maybe that's the alternate ending the DVD has?
Ripper Posted September 3, 2003 Author Report Posted September 3, 2003 Well under that reasoning wouldn't: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): the lady who was blown up with the car have a possibility to be alive? Because that's how the kid was supposedly "killed" Maybe that's the alternate ending the DVD has? Spoiler (Highlight to Read): But you saw her in the bathroom as her husband was getting killed. That kinda took her out the mix And really, I have the DVD(I borrowed it from somewhere) and it said that watching it on widescreen gives you the option of the theatrical version or the extended version with alternate ending. Only the same fucking ending is on all of the versions. What am I missing.

SpikeFayeJettEdBebop Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 I heard the movie sucked when it first came out(And a few good reviews) but based on the positive reactions, although I already know the ending and everything, I think ill rent it this weekend.

Really...I didn't read a single bad review for this movie.
Ravenbomb Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Spoiler (Highlight to Read): I was so engroased (sp?) in what was going on that I forgot completely about the notebook and all that. So the split-personality thing caught me off guard. At first I thought that Busey was the guy the hearing was for, then I thought the motel was a flashback to the fat guy killing people. I love this movie, it's one of the best I've ever seen (yeah, most of you probably disagree), so I'll definately be getting it.
cabbageboy Posted September 3, 2003 Report Posted September 3, 2003 Heh, I got it despite looking in Maltin's book and it only getting *1/2. I gotta tell you, I had no idea about any of these plot twists. I seriously thought that they were meeting to discuss the Jake Busey character, so it took me totally off guard. Also I didn't see the ending coming at all, or maybe I sorta did but didn't really think about it. And yes I took a look at the "alternate" ending on the DVD and it seemed the same to me.
NoCalMike Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 I want to know how the little kid managed to jam that baseball down into Busey like that. Seems pretty amazing, unless the kid is an X-man in training.
Guest Mikey2Dope Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 Hey NoCalMike ya might wanna put a spoiler tag on that thing...... Anyways I saw this in the theatres and it was easily one of the best movies I have seen this year (9/10). I didn't see the plot twists or ending coming either because I was so damn engrossed by the flick that I wasn't thinking about anything or trying to guess anything. I will definately be picking the DVD up.
Betty Houle Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 It was a good movie. Pretty effective. I thought the final plot "twist" at the end was very lame though.
