It is funny that the biggest ovation during games now is for Larry Bowa as he walks out of the dugout to pull Mesa. Sad that that won't happen anymore, since they won't let him pitch at home again. With the 40 man roster they won't dump him though.

If the Phillies don't sign Keith Foulke this offseason they are retarded.

I bet he and Alfonseca would have quite a bit in common.

My brother asked me to show him concrete proof that Alfonseca and Joe Table aren't one in the same. I told him the only difference is one has 6 fingers.

If anyone gives Kevin Millwood the 15 mil a year Scott Boras is looking for, they need to be fired immediately. I can't remember him coming up big in any game other than the post-Bowa blowup game. Throw in being 7-9 with a 4.40 ERA since May 23.

At least the Phils play the Marlins, giving them a shot at it.

Damn Braden Looper. Marlins were cruising to the sweep when he came in and gave up 5! in the ninth. 1.5 up heading to Philadelphia for a crucial series on Tuesday that features an ESPN game on Wed.

Do or die time.

No I'm rooting for Cubs vs. Anybody, but a cross-town matchup would be fun.

Bad baseball day in my eyes, Cards allow the sweep, Cubs lose in the 9th, and the Marlins blow a pretty big game.

They shouldn't have pitched Looper last night, since it wasn't a save situation. He pitched three days in a row, and that probably wore him out.

Tomorrow's the last off day for the season for the Marlins, while the Phils have one last day off next Monday.

The Phils schedule looks favorable. Six games against our direct competition, and three against the Reds. 9 of 12 are home games. The Phillies are 45-27 at home this year.

A's win, Mariners lose. A's up now three and a half games and now in a position to make the final three games at Seattle irrelevent. Mariners probably should concentrate on the Wild Card.

How exactly does one concentrate on winning the Wild Car and not the division? Do the parameters change? Either way, the object is to win games.

3 1/2 should be enough to win. The Cardinals are effectively finished at this point. The Yankees are just effectively in as well.

I don't see the Cards being swept again against Houston when they're in St. Louis next week, but even a sweep against the Astros isn't going to get them back into the race. However, it'd be nice to see them win a game or two, just to help the Cubs out a bit.

Don't count out the Dodgers for the Wildcard. They have great pitching and their offense is starting to play alot better.

Nice job by the Red Sox this weekend. Losing a series at home to team who was like 10 games under on the road.

The Twins and White Sox winning is making it hard for the Blue Jays to catch them for 1st place in the Central, which is now my goal for the season: Be good enough to make the playoffs and the build off that next year.

No, what I'm saying is that I want them to have a better record than the team that wins the Central. Just a small victory, but knowing that they could have made the playoffs if they were in that division is enough for me (add to the fact that they play in what is probably a tougher division, so they have a tougher schedule).

A's win again, Mariners lose again. Four and a half game lead with 11 to go so its pretty much over.

A's got some bad news though that Jose Guillen has a broken bone in his left hand and might be out for the season but at the moment he's going to try to play with it some how. He's going to sit out their current series with Anaheim (he's already back in Oakland) and try to see if he can play this weekend when they are home to play Seattle. Sounds like a long shot he can go but my guess is they'll have him sit out for the rest of the regular season and then they'll see if he can play the postseason. Amazingly they are 21-7 since Mulder was lost for the season so who knows maybe they'll just pick it up even more if Guillen is gone.
