Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted September 7, 2003 Reported by Steve Fox on September 6, 2003 For those who've asked about Zach Gowen's condition following the nasty bump down a flight of stairs on Smackdown, don't worry. It was actually a professional stunt man who took the bump for Zach, which would explain why he was still wearing his prosthetic leg while in the wheel chair. NWA-TNA has purchased a large amount of advertising space on WWE programming, with the ads expected to start airing in several markets on RAW this week. On the flipside, WWE has actually purchased ads to air during TNA's "Xplosion" program to advertise an upcoming house show in Nashville. The 9/4 edition of Smackdown scored a 3.5 broadcast rating. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to Tampa Bay Jay for the following report: Kevin Nash called into The Bubba The Love Sponge show this morning. He said that he is just about finished with his scenes in the movie they he is shooting in Tampa. The crew had to miss a day of filming due to heavy rain. Bubba asked Big Kev if he has caught the acting bug and Nash said it's 'a nice change of pace'. Bubba asked Nash what his future with WWE holds and Nash said he would like to continue his feud with Chris Jericho. Bubba then asked if Nash was coming over to Hulk Hogan's house this afternoon to work out (Bubba and Hogan work out together quite a bit). Nash said he would try. Thanks to "The Great Mosquito" for sending in the following report: I just went to the 9/5/03 Tallahassee Raw brand house show, and here are my thoughts on the event. Mixed Tag Match - Hurricane and Trish vs. Rico and Jackie Gayda. A nice opener, the crowd all for Trish the entire time and just hating on Rico. Decent match that saw Trish and Hurricane win after Trish pinned Jackie. Tommy Dreamer vs. Lance Storm. Dreamer came out to ECW chants, but then he ripped on the Seminoles, gaining instant heat and turning him heel for the night. Lance Storm then came out playing the face, but got quite a bit of 'boring' chants despite that. An ok match, with Storm picking up the win after a super kick to Dreamer, then after the match Dreamer said that the Seminols just plain suck and left to boos. Mark Jindrak and Garrison Cade vs. Mark Henry and Rodney Mack w/ Theodore Long. The crowd was all for Henry and Mack, tons of 'Let me holla at ya playa!' screams from the crowd, and it seemed nobody really gave a damn about Jindrak or Cade at all. Henry won the match after a big splash to Garrison Cade. 6 Man Tag Match - Dudley Boys and Spike vs. La Resistance and Rob Conway. Match started out with La Resistance trying to run to the back and the Dudley chasing them down, starting the battling out at the entrance. Spike chased Conway all the way backstage, then the action was finally brought into the ring. Lots of 'tables' and 'USA' chants, and a nice 6 man tag match at that, seeing the Dudleys win the match after a 3D to I think Conway, can't really remember. No tables in the match, but still, a good match. Scott Steiner vs. Test w/ Stacey Keibler. Your typical Steiner/Test match, though better than expected, and with Stacey getting all of the pops. Steiner won the match, then was about to get Stacey to dance for the crowd, but Test pulled Stacey out of the ring and pulled her to the back to boos from the crowd. Intercontinental Championship - Christian vs. Maven. The crowd loved Christian, cheering him on as the match started, and tons of heat for Maven, even though Christian was trying to play the role of the heel. Started out as a really slow match, with nothing much really happening for the first 10 minutes of it. Lots of near falls at the end with Christian finally picking up the win after a second unprettier to Maven. Chris Jericho vs. Ric Flair w/ Randy Orton. Match of the night. Ric Flair said something that I couldn't hear, but got instant heat from the crowd. Jericho came out and was playing his old face character, getting huge Y2J chants. Long back and forth match, with not really too much Orton interference surprisingly, and while Flair was playing the heel in the match, both men got cheered all throughout. Jericho eventually won after Flair tapped out to the Walls of Jericho. He made his way to the back, followed shortly by Flair, then as Orton made his way to the back, someone from the crowd tried to start a fight with him. The guy was escorted out of the building. Cage Match - RVD vs. Kane w/ Special Guest Referee Eric Bischoff. The match was much shorter than expected, but an interesting sight to see nonetheless. Bischoff tried his hardest to completely screw over RVD, and the cage looked like it was about to fall to pieces at any minute all throughout the match. RVD hit the 5 star on Kane, but Bischoff made an extremely slow 2 count, but refused to count the 3, and Kane kicked out. Lost of asshole chants for Bischoff. Kane then tried to climb out of the cage, but RVD pushed Bischoff into the ropes, causing Kane to fall off. RVD then climbed out of the cage to win the match. After RVD made his way to the back, Bischoff tried to shake hands with Kane. Kane shook his hand, but then delivered a chokeslam to Bischoff. The crowd chanted 'One more time!' so Kane delivered a second chokeslam to Eric Bischoff before making his way to the back. End of show. All in all it was a really good show. Jericho/Flair was an amazing match, much better than either of their ppv matches they had last year. RVD/Kane was a bit of a disappointment in my opinion. Biggest Pops: Chris Jericho Ric Flair Christian Kane chokeslamming Bischoff Stacey Keibler Biggest Heat: La Resistance Test Eric Bischoff Tommy Dreamer Rico Thanks to Jonathan Weber & Chris Miller for the following report: The attendance was 4,000 out of 6,000 capacity so it was 2/3 full. It was much better than last year's house show but there was bad weather here today, so that might have played a part in it. 1. Test (with Stacy) v Scott Steiner Announced as a 10 minute limit and after 5 minutes we are again reminded by Fink that 5 minutes remain. Then Steiner hits the reverse DDT and gets a 2 count. Test hits the pumphandle slam and gets a 2 count also. Finally, Steiner hits the Flatliner and wins in 7:00 minutes. Afterwards, Steiner wants Stacy to dance and while she is dancing Test pulls her out of the ring and is greeted with "You Suck" chants. Note: Steiner was way over. 2. Rodney Mack and Mark Henry (with Teddy Long) v Jindrak and Cade Not much to say here, pretty boring match. Especially Jindrak and Cade whose offense consisted of dropkick, dropkick, side headlock, side headlock, and another dropkick. This was announced as 15:00 minute time limit but was won by Jindrak and Cade at the 6:00 minute mark. Post match sees Henry and Mack beatdown the "White Boys." Note: Not much reaction for Jindrak and Cade, to me they are too cookie cutter bland. But Teddy Long did get a better reaction than any of the wrestlers in the match. 3. Tommy Dreamer (from Yonkers, NY) v Lance Storm Dreamer was wearing a Kane shirt, so he is working as the heel tonight. Dreamer hits the Spicolli Driver and gets a 2 count and at the 6:00 minute mark, Lance hits the superkick for the pin. Note: Lance was smiling on the way in to the ring and slapping hands with the fans. Dreamer also got on the mic and talked about the fans chanting "ECW!!" and where were they when ECW went out of business and also where were they when they ran a show here a couple of years ago (which never happened). 4. Rico and Jackie Gayda v Trish and Hurricane When the faces enter, Gayda tries to leave but gets caught up in the ropes, it was pretty funny. Anyway, Hurricane and Trish win with a crossbody from the top by Hurricane on Rico at the 9:00 minute mark. 5. Christian v Maven for the IC title Christian wins with the Unprettier at 10:00 minutes. Note: not much reaction to Maven, expect maybe for the eyebrows. Christian also let us know that he was "Peepless in Savannah." Why Maven gets a shot at the IC belt instead of Storm or someone else is beyond me. Maven still needs to be in OVW, he also used a lot of dropkicks. 6. La Resistance (including Rob Conway) v Dudley Boys (including Spike) Dudleys win with 3D on Conway at 11 minute mark. Note: Dudleys were way over also, especially when they were going to set up the tables. 7. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair (with Randy Orton) v Chris "King of Bling Bling" Jericho Best match of the night by far. Very old school match. At one point in the match, Flair's tights were down in the back and he worked bare ass for about 2 minutes even taking the Flair bump from the top and the Walls of Jericho. Jericho wins in 18:00 minutes via tapout to the Walls. Note: Flair was way over and Jericho was over but I think being a heel on TV and then working as the face on the house show hurt his reaction. 8. Main Event: Kane v RVD with Easy E (Bischoff) as the special referee in a steel cage The steel cage was put up pretty quickly and was very loose on the ring. However, they announced that in order to win you could: climb over the cage, exit through the door, or by pinfall, which leads me to ask why have the cage in there. RVD wins the match via climbing the cage in 15:00 minutes. Note: RVD with new tights made right here in Savannah, GA was over as well. This match was boring and hopefully won't go longer than it did here on Monday night, but knowing them it will be longer. Biggest Pops: 1)Flair 2) Dudleys 3)Jericho, RVD No Heat: Maven, Jindrak and Cade Best Match: Jericho and Flair Worst Match: Henry/Mack v Cade/Jindrak (the OVW reunion) Not a bad show, but probably your normal Raw show, highlight was the Jericho v Flair match, very good match. No HHH, No Goldberg, No Nash (well that isn't bad), No Goldust and No McMahons (that isn't bad either). I would have liked to see the tune-up for the PPV match between HHH and Goldberg but I really don't know which is better: HHH losing or Goldberg winning, for me it is a lose-lose situation either way. The crowd was pretty hot all night except in certain spots, i.e. Jindrak/Cade match and Maven's offense. WWE has expressed interest in a few NWA-TNA superstars, including Johnny Swinger, Kid Kash and James Mitchell. It's believed that Swinger and Mitchell are not contractually bound to TNA, however, Kash recently signed a short-term contract with the promotion. WWE officials continue to push both Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio largely due to the growing Hispanic population in the United States. There has even been some talk of adding more Hispanic wrestlers to both the RAW and Smackdown rosters. NWA-TNA management are planning to issue contracts to several of their top guys because they are close to signing a huge video game deal with EA Sports. Eric Bischoff will be serving as the special guest referee for the Kane vs. Rob Van Dam Steel Cage match on RAW tomorrow night. The morale amongst mid-card talent in the WWE locker room continues to get worse by the day. Wrestlers have been heard voicing their opinions regarding how much television time the McMahons are giving themselves, and the decreasing house show payoffs. Most feel they are receiving their fair share of the gate, but they aren't making what they were promised when they joined the company. Some have even gone as far as contacting other promotions to see what they would make if they decided to work the independent scene after their WWE contract expires. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2003 I'm a huge RVD fan and I wouldn't take him as a worker over most of the TNA roster. But he is popular...and would put the belt on him

It's believed that Swinger and Mitchell are not contractually bound to TNA, however, Kash recently signed a short-term contract with the promotion. If they bring in Swinger, they better get Diamond, too. Why would they want Kid Kash? Granted, I've only seen his ECW and WCW stuff (and none of his TNA stuff), but nothing really impressed me much. Isn't he in his mid-30's?

LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2003 I'd take RVD as a World Champion and draw any day over ANYONE in TNA.....including JArrett, Styles, and Daniels With that being said......He's not nearly as good a worker as any of them, but he's got charisma and people love him. And dont crack on Ron Killings AKA The Truth....the guy was the most over guy in TNA and was a good World Champ....it's not his fault they didnt know what to do with him next, and now have him with 2 of the worst workers, and biggest scrubs in the whole industry.
