SmartMarks Fantasy Hockey?

Man, it's a close one between me and Leafs at 9-8. However, I'm looking at the stats, and unless he gets two more assists, three more points, two more PPP, two more GWG, or an extra 0.57% shooting, I'm looking at my first win in this league.

Still, it's quite close and anything can happen. Good luck to ya Leafs. This will be close.

I don't like how we only get 1 bench position...

Otherwise this league looks like it should be fun. I have pretty much no chance this week though :(

You can bench more than 1 player.

Well of course you can bench more than 1 player...

Nevermind, i'm stupid.

I was comparing this league to another one i'm in...and in the other league I have to change my lineup everyday because there aren't as many starting positions.

BUT

I realize that it makes no difference really.

So yea forget what I said :)

I shall. You can change your configuration every day by the way as well. I can change the amount of players on a team if there is a agreement.

Edit: I don't know if it will drop the other players or automatically bench some though... I am investigating.

C Damphousse

Meh...not that bad

C Yzerman

He seems to be OK so far, but his knees are a ticking time bomb, and he's not going to put that many points on the board.

LW Samsonov

Could be OK, consistancy and health are main issues with him.

LW Sedin, Daniel

Not much since he came to the NHL, but he's primed for a breakout year

RW Glen Murray

This should be your best player

RW Eric Lindross

Bad. He's on a downslide and confidence issues are going to plague him in New York.

W Steve Sullivan

Semi-decent points, but not much else.

F Kieth Primeau

Good two way center. Not much in terms of point production, unless you drafted 2000-01 Keith Primeau.

D Zdeno Chara

Good pickup. Led his team in +/- last year

D Mathieu Shneider

Puts up good points for a defenseman. +/- is a concern

D Martin Skoula

OK numbers

D Sean Hill

Decent numbers and an OK +/-

Util Scott Young

Capable of so much more than he's going to give you

G Patrick Lalime

He's about a year or two away from achieving greatness. He'll have another solid year.

G Chris Osgood

OK for a backup.

G Andrew Raycroft

He's good....in about 2 years

In Raycroft's case I am willing to bet that he will play in more games than Potvin...especially after Potvin's poor performances so far(including preseason) and Raycroft's stellar play against the Panthers saturday night.

I don't really like my team much, especially Lindross and Primeau, so i'm just stuck waiting for some diamonds to pop up.

I think I'm going to lose this week.

Question: I'm a bit of a n00b to this fantasy thing, but do the players on the bench not count towards your totals? Since Matt Stajan played yesterday, he didn't score at all (don't get me started on that), but he did get a few shots on goal.

It's the total for a week. You have to start them for them to contribute on a day they play. You can retool your line ups for in the future. Example: I have 3 goalies. I can only start 2. So Goalie 1 & 2 play on Tuesday so I start them and bench 3. 2 & 3 play Weds so I bench 1.

Ron Francis(Carolina)

Matt Cooke(Vancouver)

Keith Tkachuk(St. Louis)

Jeff Friesen(New Jersey)

Right Wingers

Milan Hejduk(Colorado)

Robyn Regehr(Calgary)

Jeff Jillson(Boston)

Ken Klee(Toronto)

Nick Boynton(Boston)

Dan Boyle(Tampa Bay)

That team has potential, with LeCavalier on par for a breakout year. Francis and Cooke are...OK. Francis is dwindling in the twilight of his career, and Cooke benefits from playing on a sharp Canucks team.

Samsonov, Tkachuk and Friesen are a solid group on that side. Samsonov needs to prove that he can put up points consistantly without injury. Tkachuk is good when he's not bit by nagging injuries, and will generally give you 70-80 points with a little over on the plus. Friesen is good for about 60 points as well.

Hejduk and Bondra are as good as you are going to get. That is a deep, talented, powerful side of the ice for you.

Zubov, Regehr, Boyle, Boynton and Jillson are a good corps for you and will be solid.

Ken Klee is the odd man out.

Kolzig and Nurminen are a solid corps as well.

I'm not terribly impressed with Pasi Nurminen. He'd be better if he played for a decent team.

You might want to think about dropping a defender to grab a third goalie, or making a trade for someone half-decent in net.

Tonight is a big night for Mr Rant's teams as this is the 1st time that his whole line up will start, will he score any points, I doubt it.

The only way he can beat me now is if my Goaltender stats don't make the 3 starts.

Considering this has dropped, I'd figured I'd bump it.

But I have a special bump for you. A diagram of how everyone is doing so far heading into tomorrow night's action and who's on pace to be where come Sunday (baring any changes).

Week 3 Standings

1 Old Age (21-8-5) - PTS 47

2 Boston Bruins (17-11-6) - PTS 40

3 The NO MAAM (18-13-3) - PTS 39

4 Pogo The Monkey (16-11-7) - PTS 39

5 The Canucks (17-13-4) - PTS 38

6 Crimson Storm (15-13-6) - PTS 36

7 Chengdu Scarlet Ice (16-16-2) - PTS 34

8 Dirty Southerns (14-14-6) - PTS 34

9 Winnipeg Whalers (13-17-4) - PTS 30

10 Leafs (12-19-3) - PTS 27

11 Canadian All Stars (9-20-5) - PTS 23

12 The Shizzle (9-22-3) - PTS 21

Points currently seperating first from last 26.

Possible Week 4 Wins/Losses/Ties and Win% for this week

1) Old Age (4-11-2) = Win% .294

2) Boston Bruins (8-6-3) = Win% .559

3) The NO MAAM (6-8-3) = Win% .441

4) Pogo The Monkey (6-8-3) = Win% .441

5) The Canucks (8-6-3) = Win% .559

6) Crimson Storm (11-4-2) = Win% .716

7) Chengdu Scarlet Ice (2-13-2) = Win% .176

8) Dirty Southerns (13-2-2) = Win% .824

9) Winnipeg Whalers (5-11-1) = Win% .324

10) Leafs (11-5-1) = Win% .676

11) Canadian All Stars (7-3-7) = Win% .665

12) The Shizzle (3-7-7) = Win% .335

Possible Week 4 Standings [Movement Up or Down the Standings/PTS Back of Leader]

1) Dirty Southerns (27-16-8) - PTS 62 [up: 7/PTSB: ~]

2) Crimson Storm (26-17-8) - PTS 60 [up:4/PTSB: 2]

3) Boston Bruins (25-17-9) - PTS 59 [Down: 1/PTSB: 3]

4) Old Age (25-19-7) - PTS 57 [Down: 3/PTSB: 5]

5) The NO MAAM (24-21-6) - PTS 54 [Down: 2/PTSB: 8]

6) Pogo The Monkey (22-19-10) - PTS 54 [Down: 2/PTSB: 8]

7) The Canucks (23-21-7) - PTS 53 [Down: 2/PTSB: 9]

8) Leafs (23-24-4) - PTS 50 [up: 2/PTSB: 12]

9) Canadian All Stars (16-23-12) - PTS 44 [up: 2/PTSB:18]

10) Winnipeg Whalers (18-28-5) - PTS 41 [Down: 2/PTSB: 21]

11) Chendu Scarlet Ice (18-29-4) - PTS 40 [Down: 4/PTSB: 22][/b]

12) The Shizzle (12-29-10) - PTS 34 [~/PTSB: 28]

Points possibly seperating first from last 28.

So from what we can see, even if you are in the bottom half of the league, all you need right now is a good few weeks of strong play by your team and you can gain some ground. I think we'll probably see some really good seperation the further we head into the season. I'm guessing about week 8 we should really see a bigger difference than what we are currently seeing where it's anyone's game.
