Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht frist and lsat ltteer is at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae we do not raed ervey lteter by it slef but the wrod as a wlohe.

Deceptively easy to read, yes?

Really long words would be impossible.

Ootraillongosit* for example

*Otolarinologist, an ear, nose and throat specialist/doctor

That's probably a bad example. Can i not read it because it's long, or because it's a word I've never encountered before. Logic dictates that the more exposure you have to a word, the more this particular little irregularity holds true.

Was it natural to read through that and read it perfectly without having to re-arrange the letters?

Wow...that was pretty cool. I think we're understanding mispellings like that so much because of the internet. Email and IMing is filled with typos, and we have become better at understanding errors.
