Fred lost her appeal a long time ago.

 

And now with Lilah gone it's pretty-much-well all on Eve's shoulders now to bring the Foxy.

I just read that this is Angel's last contracted season to the WB - so if no one picks them up, Season 5 is the last one.

Angel discovers the only remaining member of six ancient evil fighters working in Wolfram & Hart, while researching an aztec warrior named Tezcatcatl.

 

We are shown this man's life through a series of flashbacks which tell the tale of 'The Luchadors', a family of Mexican wrestlers which helped the helpless until one day they were slain by Tezcatcatl. In the present day, Angel tries to help the last member discover the hero inside which he lost when his family were killed.

I just read that this is Angel's last contracted season to the WB - so if no one picks them up, Season 5 is the last one.

I was thinking about that today. How much longer Angel has in general. If ratings are good, WB might pick them up again. If not, there goes my favorite show on TV. :(

I wouldn't bet on WB picking it up again.

 

After five years they have to increase the budget...something that they wouldn't do for Buffy, which along with 7th heaven, was their FLAGSHIP show.

 

Angel isn't.

That's what I was thinking it was.

Indeed.

 

It was the one part of the episode that made me cringe in disgust.

 

This is an aside, now, but after watching some of the first season episodes of Angel in syndication, I must say - sweet Jesus did Charisma Carpenter hit the wall.

 

I mean, who am I to judge, right? But she was SO fucking hot in those first few episodes, and now.......yeesh. Give me Fred anyday of the week.

Early season 3 episode airing.

 

 

ETA: It's "That Vision Thing", episode 2 of season 3. And the first appearance of Skip!

Yep, right now. I guess it's just a local thing. And tomorrow night(according to the 800 commercials they've run) is both Buffy and Angel reruns.

Angel isn't.

I thought Dawson's Creek was a flagship show.

 

I read that one of the deals with this season was that the budget had to be cut, but with the new set and everything it looks like it went up.

 

The only way it is going to stay is if ratings do very well. It didn't help last season when they changed Angel's timeslot every month. Since they have a strong lead in with Smallville, it might work out.

The season premiere last week got a 3.8 rating. It beat Jake 2.0 on UPN, but that's all.

Where did you get this info? What did Smallville get?

Zap2it has ratings. Smallville got a 4.3.

 

Buffy didn't do as well on UPN as it did on WB...

Interesting tidbit is that Season Six actually did better than Five overall.

Well, a .5 drop off isn't that bad.

The real ratings test will come at the end of the month when The O.C. gets moved to Wednesdays at 9.

 

"Conviction" actually got a 3.4 final national (the 3.8 is from the fast nationals). Which kicks ass--it held on to 81% of the Smallville audience--not bad considering SV is the WB's #2 show. A 3.4 national is higher than anything the show got in season 3 & 4, or anything BtVS got in season 7 (though Buffy S6 was regularly getting 3.4-3.7 ratings). The last time Angel got a 3.4 was back in season 2 ("Epiphany").

 

Plus, the demos were pretty good (increase in males 18-34, and female teens). Bottom line--the WB is probably happy. And I don't expect a big drop-off for next week's big Spike episode. Hopefully the numbers/retention will stay this high for the rest of the season, but unfortunately, I see a lot of Smallville watchers switching over to The O.C.

I watched Angel at my friends house, who has a big screen TV. Which is a lot better than my 13 inch that I have.

 

He said that when OC starts, he's going to watch that instead of Angel. No more big TV love at the end of October.

 

I just did a little research on Buffy's ratings, and the best ratings Buffy ever did was "Innocence" with a 5.2.

 

Then in season 4 the ratings went STRAIGHT DOWN and they never went back into the 4s again, I think.

Another tidbit about "Innocence" is that it was the first ep shown in the Tuesday night timeslot ("Surprise" was shown the night before).

Didn't the Grave and the Finale do some big Numbas!?

I'm not sure about that. I got those numbers from BuffyGuide.com, and they don't have anything about season 6 yet. I'll actually look it up in a few minutes, or atleast try to.
