Si82 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 I'm glad the Faith spinoff didn't happen. She was the only character on Buffy I couldn't stand besides Riley. Give a spinoff to Giles, Xander, Willow, Andrew, Dawn, Spike, anybody else plz... Wasn't there a Giles spinoff called "Ripper" in the works? I'd love to see that. They are trying to work out the copyright issues so they can use my name. Wasn't it only going to be on the BBC over in the UK as well? Which frightens me given the crappy quality of most British shows.. ie: visually - the film stock or videotape, not the actual shows. I live in the UK and knew about the BBC thing. I was just wondering if the project was still alive. What's wrong with UK programs anyway? I don't think the look is crappy.

I dunno, maybe it happens in the transfer, but I noticed it when I was over there as well. It just seems like the picture isn't as clear.. kind of washed out. dubq 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 http://www.buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=3557 Angel won E! Onlines SOS poll with 85% of the votes From Eonline.com - 2004-03-12th The results are in on this year’s Save One Show campaign--where you, the fans, voted for the endangered series you most want to save from cancellation. I can think of only one word to describe them: holy-freakin’-poop. Over the past two weeks, more than 400,000 (!) E! Onliners from around the world--Latin America to Australia and Asia--sounded off in our poll. The winning show received an astounding 85 percent (!!) of the votes. That show is the WB’s Angel. As promised, I am writing letters to the network suits (at both the WB and UPN, which has been pitched the show) to help make your voices heard. The original plan was to do this for the top three contenders, but because Angel took such a huge chunk of the pie, the other series--including Arrested Development, Boston Public, Enterprise, Ed, Miss Match, One Tree Hill and Tru Calling--each received only 1 to 3 percent of the votes. So, this year, SOS is all about Angel. To the Powers That Be at the WB and UPN: TV fans around the world have spoken through E! Online’s Save One Show campaign, showing overwhelming support for the recently canceled Angel. On their behalf, I am here to beg, plead and share with you the top five reasons this undead champ deserves to live. 1. The Fan Efforts Are Unprecedented. Not only have Angel supporters signed petitions (more than 75,000 on one site alone) and donated their own money for full-page ads in the Hollywood Reporter and Variety, they’re taking positive action by sending flowers to WB executives such as Jordan Levin (who, in turn, has passed them along to children’s hospitals), organizing rallies in Los Angeles and Hamburg, Germany--and even holding a blood drive to keep Angel alive. You will not find more dedicated fans! 2. The Ratings Are Strong. Its average of 3.7 million viewers this season--those aforementioned die-hard fans--proves Angel packs more Nielsen’s power than most WB and UPN shows. And thanks to syndication on TNT, many new viewers are discovering the series. 3. The Fans Deserve a Good Send-Off. The cancellation happened so late in the game that mastermind Joss Whedon simply doesn’t have time to work up an adequate farewell--one with all the brilliant touches I’m sure he’d imagined for Angel’s swan song. According to my sources, producers have contacted Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan and Michelle Trachtenberg about returning, but due to the late notice, none have yet been able to commit. Sarah might be available, but Alyson is starring in a London play and Michelle has been cast in a Disney movie, so they aren’t expected to be back. 4. The New Dynamic Is Working: It has been around for five seasons, but Angel really hit its stride this year with the addition of James Marsters and the big, fancy Wolfram & Hart set. The storylines have kept us on the edge of our seats--proving there is lots more life in the show. 5. It’s One of the Best Dramas on Television: Sorry, but it has to be said. With shows like The Help, The Mullets and Run of the House getting screentime this season, the WB and UPN should feel lucky to have a show like Angel to avoid sinking further into a pit of mediocrity. Angel has more heart and soul than any of that cheesy "family programming" and boasts some of the best writing on television, which is why it’s consistently championed by critics and fans alike. It’s never too late to do the right thing. Save Angel, and you’ll be a hero to millions of fans around the world (and one lowly tube maven who’ll never be the same without it). Mole 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2004 In EW this week, they ASK THE CRITIC, Ken Tucker. What do you think is the best big-screen adaptation of a TV series and vice-versa? Harrison Ford did David Janssen's clas TV suspenser The Fugitive proud in 1993; I also liked Brian De Palma's supersize The Untouchables in '87. As for movie-to-TV morphs, it's no contest: The WB's Buffy the Vampire Slayer gloriously transcended the '92 cinema schlock starring Kristy Swanson; Joss Whedon got to redeem his slaughtered film script via TV. Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2004 well, to avoid the wrath of Dr. Tom, and since it sort of is related to buffy (found it on Buffy.nu), let me post this here: Man Shot in Face by "Vampire Slayer" From Shortnews.com - 2004-03-16th Man Shot in Face by "Vampire Slayer" 35 year old Timothy White was arrested by Jacksonville, Florida police after he shot a fellow Domino’s Pizza co-worker in the face and the stomach, thinking the man was a vampire. The victim, David Harrison, is in a hospital in critical condition. White’s friends describe him as a born again Christian who seems to have an obsession with vampires and zombies. White had a sawed off shotgun, three pistols and a knife when police arrested him. The workers at the Domino’s Pizzeria have been provided with a grief counselor to help them deal with what happened. how long till a parent group blames this on Buffy or Angel? Jingus 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2004 how long till a parent group blames this on Buffy or Angel? Anyone blaming this on the Buffyverse will come out looking like a complete fucking idiot, since White's arsenal of "a sawed off shotgun, three pistols and a knife" are completely useless against vampires, at least the ones on Whedon's shows. spiny norman 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2004 I just went on IMDB to look up something about Angel. In the description of the show, it previously had written TV Series 1999-2004 but it has since been changed to 1999-????. I have no idea if that means anything or makes anyone in here feel strangely optomistic, but I thought I'd just add that because they're a pretty good and reliable site. I have no idea if that means anything or makes anyone in here feel strangely optomistic, but I thought I'd just add that because they're a pretty good and reliable site. !!! So, with that info, I decided to do some research, and I went to Angel's TV Tome website. Before, it had said "Cancelled series (Season 5)" and now it says "Returning series (Season 5)"! And, they had this article from sci-fi.com: Angel Not Dead Yet? Are reports of the death of The WB's Angel exaggerated? The IGN FilmForce Web site, citing anonymous sources, reported rumors that the network is in talks with Fox and Mutant Enemy, which produce Angel, about a possible sixth season, even though The WB has already announced that Angel will disappear at the end of the current fifth season. A source, posting on a WB bulletin board, reported the talks, the site said. Other posts have suggested that The WB is going to be taking a close look at the ratings for upcoming episodes, including repeats, and basing its decision on whether or not to revive the show on them. Another source reported that Sky One, the satellite network owned by Rupert Murdoch, has been told that talks for a sixth season of the vampire drama are underway and that there will be a new season available, the site reported. Must...not...get...hopes...up....
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2004 IMDB info is almost entirely user-provided, so I wouldn't count that for anything. Also, those rumors are a bit old - about the message board guy - and have been pretty solidly debunked. Go to Whedonesque.com to keep up with everything. It's a Jossverse group blog, and I've found it's generally the best hub for assessing the validity of all this would-be news. Great discussions, too.

We will now be airing the final episodes of Angel beginning on Wednesday, April 14th at 9:00pm. We hope you will be able to tune in! Are you guys in the States getting the episodes then too? The station sent an email before saying the new eps were in May. Thought it was kinda strange that they moved them out of sweeps.

In that show when they all reverted to themselves when they were 18, she brought back the accent, and in the beganing of hole in the world, she had it. They slowly worked it out. Jingus 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2004 Fred's accent was always spotty at best. She'd have it on one line, and be completely drawl-free on the next. I think they finally dropped it just because she couldn't keep it consistent. Unrelated but funny note: I was commentating a match last night where the babyface was called Xander Blaze. Actual quote from me: "Xander Blaze ain't no Xander Harris, he's not gonna turn tail and run away here!" I mostly did it to crack up the camerawoman, who's a huge Buffy mark, I always try to slip in at least one obscure Whedonverse quote per show just to entertain her.
