Wait a sec, they're showing Season 7 on FX on your cable system now? Weird, cuz here we're getting Season 4. I thought FX showed identical programs all across the nation?

And oh yeah, a big fuck you to FX for cutting back from two to one episode of Buffy per day, btw.

I get Season 7 in the morning and season 4 in the afternoon. At least that's what the guide says.

I don't know about the afternoon, but it's S7 in the morning. They show two eps. This morning will be End of Days and Chosen.

Yaaay I get to see Chosen again. I have it like memorised.

I want to clear up something I said before-

When Angel calls Biffy's house in 'Salvage', I said that Dawn picked up and answered in the coresponding ep of Buffy. Actually, the line never did make it into the show, but it was in the script and in the book 'Chosen' that was released.

I want to read the book on Chosen. See what it says about Xanya. It's kind of unclear at the end. I think they are back together, but everyone else seems to think they moved on.

One thing that drove me nuts about season 5 of Angel was that they ditched the Wolfram & Hart set that they built for "Home."

Just saw that Nox appeared in 'Home' as well as Season 5. And can I saw how GREAT Lorne was, like, all season 4?

The W&H set in S5 is really cool. I like it more than the one in Home.

I don't understand why the W&H building just magically started to fall down in Not Fade Away. It must be because Hamilton died. Like in videogames, whenever the final boss dies his lair starts to self destruct along with him.

Because Wolfram and Hart didn't need the building. They were planning on moving in on Los Angeles in a permanent sense, with their full forces.

The apacolypse was starting, that is why the building was falling.

I'm watching the Gem of Amara episode, and damn, Season 4 is soooooo underrated by many. Like this scene:

::Buffy and Parker suddenly come face-to-face with Spike and Harmony (holding a dead body) at a party.::

Buffy: So, Spike, dating Harmony now. What happened, you lose a bet?

Harmony: Hey!

Spike: Well, how we met, funny story really...

::He throws the body at Buffy and takes off running.::

GOLD, baby!

Bah, the only good thing about season 4 was the comedy.

Other than that, there is nothing there for me.

Yeah, but the comedy was great. I think a lot of people were pissed at this season just because it was such a change: Angel, Cordelia, Oz, and Sunnydale High were out; Riley, Spike, Anya, Tara, and wherever-they-happened-to-be were in. Lots of fans just couldn't accept the transitions. Yeah, the whole idea of the Initiative was lame, but not nearly as bad as, say, a whiny worthless army of wannabe slayers-in-training. And I still insist that Adam is an underrated villain, but that's an argument I've had on this board too many times already.

But change can be a good thing.

Look at Dawson's Creek's 5th season; they went to college and it got better.

Season 4 of Buffy just wasn't as good as the other seasons. I like the season, don't get me wrong, but there are other seasons that are stronger.

Season 4 rules.

Best stand alone eps.

the Initiative was an interesting story that's only in S4.

Adam is a good villain.

EC becoming a regular is the best thing to happen to the cast since the original casting.

But there is a BIGGG plothole there.

Where was the Initiative before season 4? Were they always there? If so, how come we never saw them? How come Buffy never ran into Riley in the past?

And there were too many gimmick episodes.

Gimmick eps are awesome. They're what makes Buffy so much better than Angel.

Why would she have run into Riley? It's a big town and he lives in the college part.

That's something that always bothered me. In the first three seasons they seem to establish Sunnydale as a small to average sized town. (Hence the one starbucks town remark by Xander in the pilot) Yet in the later seasons we learn that they not only have their own college, but apparently their own international airport. Its nothing big, it just always wondered about.

Posted

Yeah, that is pretty dumb.

There's also the ocean disapearing in Chosen.

And nobody noticed the town's had the same mayor for like ever.

That is where I disagree

I like gimmick episodes, but too many of them can ruin the season. I like Angel better than Buffy because of the overall storyarcs, which are better on Angel. Plus, gimmick episodes don't always add to the season's story.

Riley hunts vampires, Buffy hunts vampires. There going to run into eachother.

Oh wait they did, in season 4, 3 years after Buffy started slaying in Sunnydale. Why didn't they run into each other before hand?

Posted

Of course during the Emmy's, when they showed a bit of all of the shows from this past season that ended, they didn't show Angel.

But I didn't except anything. It would have just been nice is all.

Riley fights demons near campus, Buffy was always other places near her home. Plus I doubt Riley's clocked a lot of field time. He's only caught like 17 or something. He was probably training for most of that time.

Gimmick eps are more watchable than middle of arc eps. Like I can't watch Calvary over and over, but I can with A New Man. Too many Angel eps are just straight a continuation of the story and then a to be continued ending. I like how on Buffy they can tell a long story, but the individual eps all have some wacky subplot. Makes for great repeat viewing.

Buffy has better arcs than Angel. Better cast too. Better villains. Only thing Angel tops Buffy on is opening theme.

Nah.

Angel arcs are better. They're deeper, more intense and are told/unraveled better. Whilst I'd say Season Four is the perfect example of this, Sleep Tight from Season 3 is a great example of how intense Angel can get. This episode jarred my emotions like no other... well, at least until Not Fade Away came along.

Better cast?

The Buffy cast includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, that in itself knocks it down a couple hundred points. Not to mention that terrible Emma Caulfield chick... ;)

Better villains?

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

But I agree about Angel's opening theme being a shitload better.

Posted

Deeper? Maybe more adult, but that's not necessarily better.

More intense? There's plenty of intense moments on Buffy. I was just watching Entropy tonight. The end scene with Xander is intense.

Told better? No way. Nothing beats the way Buffy can do a season long arc but with wacky gimmick episodes.

Another thing is that Buffy has MUCH better relationships than Angel. So much better.
