The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Cyvus Vail is strong but doesn't seem to be much of a match for Buffy. One super punch killed him and Buffy seems to be around the same strength level as Illyria.

Vail gave Illyria the free shot. He's a very powerful wizard, who can manipulate time. Who's to say he couldn't have done the same thing with anyone that he did with Wes.

 

The Sahvrin clan and Fell Brethren are weak.

 

Not enough to tell. Lindsay got the drop on them, had Lorne drop some vocals; and Spike is Spike.

 

Helen Brucker is just a demon in a middle aged woman's body with vamp bodyguards.

 

Not enough to tell. She obviously didn't think Gunn was going to get past the vamps, though her power seemed to be grounded in a different realm than the others.

 

We didn't even see Izzy or Sebassis fight. Who knows how strong they are in combat.

 

I'm pretty sure Izzy wasn't too much, but Sebassis was supposed to be the strongest of them all.

Lindsay beat a lair full of them. The only actual member of the Black Thorn is just the leader. If Lindsay can take out the entire clan surely the scoobies wouldn't have much trouble with one representative.

Brucker is just a human.

 

Sebassis' power comes from his legions of minions. There was no indication he was a strong fighter himself.

 

 

Cyvus is the only one with any real credibility. Compared to some of the big bads Buffy and the other scoobies have fought the idea that they couldn't take on the Black Thorn is pretty weak. Glory by herself seems stronger than the entire group.

Lindsay got the drop on one guy, and he got through the rest with some help. Lorne hitting the high note. Make no mistake; Lindsay returned from his sabbatical with a lot more power and skill than he left with.

Which is all actually very interesting because it gives her a natural connection with Hainsley, which wouldn't surprise me if he was a member of the Black Thorn at one point.

I don't know about his cred about a fighter, but with 40,000 demons under his command, he's bound to be heavily armed and guarded, and all the other members of the circle fear him. That would be quite a fight.

 

And the burden of proof, that you could divide up the scoobies to do the same amount of damage, all the while taking into consideration that these guys have to get past Vail's guards and Sebassis' legions.

The Scoobs main strength lies in planning. They couldn't beat the Mayor and his Vamps, but they could organize a rather convoluted plan to blow him up. They couldn't really beat Glory, but they could plan out a way to stop her.

 

I'm sure all of them together could take out Cyvus on his own, or maybe Sebassis. But they would never have been able to do the same thing Angel and company did to the BT.

Well, actually the Scoobs main strength is that Buffy is simply the biggest badass in the world. She's kinda like the Superman villain Doomsday: ridiculously strong, and if you kill her she just comes back even more powerful. She completely whipped Faith, Angel, and Spike's asses in all their fights. The only other heroes that even come close to her power are Ilyria and Willow.

The Scoobies strength was that noone gave a flying fuck about them or buffy, except the Mayor and the Master and the First. I mean seriously, Adam could care less about Buffy and could have killed her plenty of times, Angel was just having a damn good time fucking with her and could have killed her while he was drawing her picture, Glory didn't give a fuck, she just wanted her key, and Buffy was just kinda in the way. Faith, once again, could have taken her out but the Mayor told her not to because he didn't want another slayer called.

 

Buffy and the Scoobs got by on plain luck. Angels enemies wanted his ass dead.

Angellus isn't quite as strong as Angel, and I don't think that evil Spike matches up with good Spike (though two dead slayers say differently). Still, I think that Buffy would probably win (or at least it'd get booked that way).

I just saw on tnt last night, the one where angel saves that actress from a rundown and becomes her bodyguard. I was cracking up when cordy and rebecca go shopping for Angel and cordy is all like "yea what does he need? more socks?" that was amusing, as well as the opening where wes and angel are despearte to get out of somewhere, then revelaed its the theatre where cordy is acting (badly) in a play.

Yeah, but a week didn't go by that someones goal wasn't to kill him. I mean by the time glory and Adam gave a crap about buffy, she was forming super buffies and getting troll hammers magically transformed in to a troll GOD hammer.

 

Plus Gunn could kick Xanders ass, Fred was smarter than Willow, and Lorne could do that scream thing which is more than Anya could offer the group. Angels peeps> Scoobies.

 

Although the Scoobies did actually stop Apocolypi...that gives them a point or two.

Pfft. Jasmine was more of a threat than The First. Angels Avengers stopped that shit.

 

Both Angel and Buffy were underdogs, but Buffy was "just a girl" while Angel had powerful forces that were trying to get him on their side. Both were underestimated in a way, but Angel was viewed as important by his enemies and Buffy was more of a pesky fly.
