Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Didn't HBK get booed at SS 96 when he faced Sid? Yes, HBK was practically booed out of the building. MSG popped like wildfire when Sid hit Jose Lethario with the video camera and beat Michaels. So, is that supposed to show that MSG fans are smarks --- or marks? -=Mike
LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 Bah, if they were really a smart crowd they'd get up and leave. Where in NY is this Knickerbocker Arena? Is it still around? Buddy, the arena wasnt even 1/3 full.....i think thats a statement in itself. Knickerbocker arena is in Albany if im not mistaken......but I don't think it's being used anymore for any type of events

Guest Kamui Report post Posted September 22, 2003 And, if I ever heard my son say that (assuming this kid was young), I would slap the shit out of him and go home immediately. Hey, it'd be a great excuse to get out of this pathetic excuse of an MSG show early. I'm so glad to have the well-respected opinion of a child abuser on the forums. Someone needs to slap you around instead. -Duo Sorry, but this kind of person pisses me off from personal experience.

iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2003 If you want to know why MSG wasn't sold out, it probably has something to do with the shitty Smackdown they put on last time they went there for a TV taping. That week they had a huge blockbuster Raw there, and then they tried to make the Smackdown sound special, but put on a well below average show with nothing happening instead. Guest Goodear Report post Posted September 22, 2003 If I'm the WWE at this point I'm ignoring everything that New York and Canada tell me about the product simply since those two areas never seem to translate to the rest of the country anymore. I would simply book to their tastes for those shows (like they did here with Tazz) and by giving the Canadians some meaningless wins in the North and let that be that. Guest nikowwf Report post Posted September 22, 2003 The first report is sh*t. People LOVED the Undertaker/Brock match. People were buying that the Undertaker was going to escape and win the freaking title. I think people only see what they want to see sometimes. And the crowd started sh*tting on the Bashams match cause after Ultimo did his great offense, the Bashams then went on offense for the rest of the match, including various exciting headlock, takedown combinations. It was a good show actually. Paul London rules all. He was REALLY good. niko

Guest Patchimus Report post Posted September 23, 2003 Well, to reply to you, "The Czech Republic," I can't say that I'm too familiar with New York City and it's arenas, being that I'm Australian, so I can't help you out about the 'Knickerbocker' Arena. In regards to a lot of you talking about the cards for the Madison Square Garden house show, just be glad that it was a SmackDown! brand house show, and not Raw. I attended the WWE Raw Ruthless Aggression Tour here in Melbourne at the Rod Laver Arena on July 31st, and here was the card: Opening match from a cut promo at the start (involving Stacy Keibler, Eric Bischoff and Kane)...: Match 1: Scott Steiner w/ Stacy Keibler def. Test via his version of the Flatliner. Match 2: Spike Dudley def. Steven Richards via the Dudley Dog Career, which led to: Match 3: Victoria w/ Steven Richards def. Trish Stratus via a DDT. Match 4: The Hurricane def. Rodney Mack via the Shining Wizard (don't think that we'll be seeing those two working together again in the future)... Match 5: For the WWE World Tag Team Championships: La Resistance (Champions) def. The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D'Von) via La Resistance smacking D'Von with a flag pole. Match 6: For the WWE Intercontinental Championship: Booker T (Champion) def. Christian via the Scissors Kick. Match 7: Goldust def. Val Venis via the Curtain Call. Match 8: Rob Van Dam def. Kane via Disqualification when Kane went nuts at the Referees. The Main Event for this evening was supposed to be Triple H VS (and obviously defeating) Kevin Nash for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship (thankfully it wasn't), but because of Triple H's groin injury, preventing him from coming to Australia, it turned out to be: Match 9: Main Event: Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash def. Randy Orton and Chris Jericho. I could go on and on with more comments regarding the topic/s and/or this card, but I'll shut up now. If you have any questions about the tour, just give me a yell. The point of this exercise was to display just how bad a WWE house show card. Not bad for entertainment, but the WWE SmackDown! Global Warning Tour last year was better for wrestling content. Just think about it before bitching about a card... Cheers, Patchimus
Guest The Rising Star Report post Posted September 23, 2003 The crowd gave Ultimo an ovation? Vince should notice that, and let him win matches, instead of making him job to hosses. On a side note, why does HHH's shirt have a Q on it in Czech's sig?
Guest Patchimus Report post Posted September 23, 2003 I wouldn't bet on it, "The Rising Star," The Royal Rumble 2003 crowd gave Chris Benoit that heartfelt standing ovation, but is Chris Benoit getting, or did he get, pushed after that?
Guest Joe Report post Posted September 23, 2003 Here's some more observations: -The emcees for the lingerie "teddy" contest were these two DJs from a morning show on KTU, a dance music radio station in NYC. I think their names were Goomba Johnny and Shorty? I seem to be the only one who DIDN'T know who they were. It was probably "Speedy", not "Shorty"...I only say that because on the KTU morning show (which Goomba Johnny is on) there is a DJ named Speedy, but nobody named Shorty...hehe... Not that I like that show...Actually I dislike KTU as a whole...Give me Elvis Duran and Z100 anyday over KTU...But my aunt listens to KTU, and she drove me to work over the summer (cause I was working at her office) and I heard the KTU show more then a few times, thus I know their DJs... As for the MSG crowd, I used to believe that it was a mostly smart crowd as well, but Survivor Series 2002 left me thinking otherwise...I remember very clearly that the crowd was dead for Billy Kidman vs. Jamie Noble (a good match-up if not poorly build up)...In fact one person sitting right behind me screamed out "This sucks! Bring back Saliva!" during the match...Of course he was being sarcastic because everybody hated the Saliva performance, but it was still disappointing to hear the crowd not loving Kidman/Noble... Meh, I don't go to house shows or TV tapings because house shows are a waste of time (nothing significant ever happens...sure you might see a good match or two, but you probably won't see some classic match) and TV tapings you're sure to sit through promos and skits and all of that other stuff that I don't mind sitting through at home, where I can lay down on the couch and be comfortable...At the arena, those seats aren't that great, and surely would make me even more bitter during a promo... The only shows I'll even consider going to are PPV events (and Indy shows...once I learn to drive...hehe)...I was at Survivor Series and I'll be online Friday morning to get my tickets for Mania XX...Then I'll spend the next six months praying that the card end up being worth while... Ed Wood Caulfield 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2003 The DJs name was probalby Speedy then. He was this small guy who wore a Rey Mysterio shirt and said "WEPA!" which is a Spanish word. It's his catchphrase and the crowd pop loudly for it. The whole idea behind the lingerie contest was that the divas had to get Speedy's "mojo" working. Torrie Wilson got his "mojo" working and thus won the contest. And the Z100 Z Morning Zoo is the better radio show.
