dubq 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 The sad part is that HHH KNOWS that he isn't the best...that's why he's got to play his political trump card (Steph) and run down people that aren't even on his show every chance that he gets. Don't you know that this is the reason why he IS the best? Because he has been able to consistantly fuck over everyone and even go as far as to outsmart his own boss. He's living the American Dream.. you're all just being jealous haters. ;p
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 He is the most insecure man walking the face of the earth. He knows that he is not half as entertaining or charismatic as a Jericho or a Rock or as good in the ring as an Angle so he bashes these guys every chance that he gets. Kurt Angle doesn't need to ram it down our throats that he is the greatest professional wrestler today, because his matches speak for themselves. HHH goes out and does ** matches on pay-per-view and then comes out on RAW the next night and basically whacks himself off in the ring for 10 minutes so that people will pay attention to him. He's got the personality of a 5-year-old child: "Look at me! Look at me! No, don't look at him, look at me!" Steph is exactly the same way, so it's no wonder that they are a couple. The sad part is that HHH KNOWS that he isn't the best...that's why he's got to play his political trump card (Steph) and run down people that aren't even on his show every chance that he gets. Okay, I don't like HHH, and I feel weird for saying this, but here it goes: Did you ever think that it is his character to call himself the best? What heel champion (or any heel for that matter) wouldn't sing their own praises? Maybe some of the cheap shots of some people (like calling Angle a paper champion) aren't really nesessary, but it's not like he says it out of the blue. It is his character after all. He's a jerk, so he makes jerky comments. Duh.
Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted September 25, 2003 I see what you are saying, but you can just tell that he's shooting when he cuts his promos. Look at Jericho's run as the undisputed champion: he was also portraying a cocky heel that thought that he was better than everybody else, but he didn't take cheap shots. It's a known rule in the business that you don't want to make your opponents look/sound like complete shit, because then who did you beat? Nobody. You want to build them up to build your win up. But Trips is so insecure that he's only concerned with bringing people down. Maybe that's why he's never reached the level of an Austin or Rock...he makes his victories seem less meaningful because he buries his opponents.
jester 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 HHH never gives his opponents any more of an edge than necessary. Occassionally even he has to job or take a beatdown, but he won't give an inch anywhere else. Especially promos. Example: remember when Rock came back and Hurricane was harrassing him? Rock acted like the usual cocky asshole. Then Hurricane made a remark about the Scorpion King, and Rock seriously freaked out. He didn't act cool, didn't brush it off, he acted like he was deeply insecure. When has HHH ever done that?
Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Never. He's shown real fear exactly twice: against Foley (who was a veteran and was retiring), and against Taker (who is the leader of the locker room and can't be fucked with). When it comes to young up-and-comers (Jericho, RVD) or superstars that HHH perceives as a threat to his spot (Rock, Austin), HHH won't give them a damn thing except for disrespectful pseudo-shoot comments. I think that HHH also never fucked with Taker because proving himself to Taker gave him a lot of political clout and also because Taker is not really a threat to his spot...Taker has been drifting in and out of the main event spot for years now. He's not really a consistent main eventer and you never know if he'll be opening or closing the card. Taker doesn't bitch about this. HHH, on the other hand, needs that main event spot like a baby needs its bottle.

The Rock came back as a primadonna movie star.. so that personality trait is obvious. "The Game" character is that of a badass heel. Hardly makes sense for him to SHOW that kind of fear. ...but, again, I love out every one of you smarks analyze this to death. Buries it. Digs it up and then re-analyze it over and over and over again. Pardon the pun, but you lot have to be the most anal bunch of "fans" I've ever come across. Silence 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 For those wondering how mach7 started unfortunately liking HHH, it goes like this: Chris Jericho used to be one of mach7's favorite wrestlers, up until last year when he did the rant on us smarks at the time when we used to think he was really shooting on us and hated us just because we didn't like his match with RVD at KOTR 2002 too well. Mach7 got really offended by it, and said something along the lines of this:"Well if Jericho hates us so bad now just because we didn't like his match with RVD, then I ENCOURAGE HHH to hold Jericho down." Faces are supposed to look vulnerable to some extent, otherwise there's no tension. Did any heel get away with a promo where he looked wittier, tougher, or cooler than HHH? First, I don't recall ever NOT liking HHH. Second, I'm glad to see that someone keeps up with their history on this forum, even though none of it matters. Though, it's no secret that I admire Trips and encourage him to hold down as many whiney Smark Darlings as possible. I also encourage him to fuck the bosses daughter and to one day [hopefully] take over WWE so that we can all bask in the greatness that is The Game forever and ever, amen. PS - none of that was sarcasm.

Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted September 25, 2003 So, what makes you an authority on "telling when people are shooting?" When he's dropping side comments about people not being able to "work" in his promos, that's a shoot. "Work" is not a kayfabe term, it's an insider term. Likewise, why would you go off on tangents to bury people that either aren't around (Rock in Hollywood, Austin possibly never returning from a bad neck) or people that aren't even working for your brand (Angle)? When have you ever heard any other heel go out of his way like that to bury somebody that he isn't even working with? I'll tell you: Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart. Shawn and Bret used to go out of their way to take little digs at each other, because it was a shoot. A lot of the time there was no logical explanation for it, because they weren't even working together. Trips learned from the best. And I never claimed to be an expert on when a shoot's a shoot...but I'm not blind and retarded, either, you little wHHHore.

dubq 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Oh, so is he calling Smackdown! a second-rate promotion and calling Angle a paper champion for the good of the company? GREAT way to promote your fellow superstars. Well the company must have thought so, or else he wouldn't have been saying it. Even Austin has said in the past that the writer's script the promos. Besides, it's not HHH's job to promote other superstars on the other brand. You HHHaters sure love your straw grasping.

But, up untill that point it wasn't as if the two brands were taking shots at each and fueding. And really what was the point of calling Angle a paper champ? And it wasn't as if on the next SD Angle made a comment about HHH. It was just HHH doing just because he can.
dubq 0 Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Either way, you're acting like making a fucking SIDE comment is burial of another wrestler. Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted September 25, 2003 It pissed me off that he would stoop that low, but on the other hand it was funny because everybody who watches WWE knows who the REAL paper champ is...the guy who was awarded the title to appease his massive ego and hasn't cleared *** on pay-per-view in like 2 years. Guest vex_hecubus Report post Posted September 25, 2003 Let me guess...All this pissing and moaning...and at the time, how many of you were/are DX fans? And will HONESTLY admit it on here? Cold hard fact 1...HHH is a good business man and is cutthroat in his goals, exactly how american business is played. Cold hard fact 2...You cannot doubt HHH's "star" power in the federation...People WILL come to see him. Cold hard fact 3...HHH has been on TV and to tell you the truth, he's pretty darn funny(I think he was on MadTV?) Cold hard fact 4...Without HHH around so you can all pull insane conspiracy theories out your asses...You'll STILL find the WWE to be stale and boring. So you all NEED HHH to be on tv, else you won't have anything to bitch and whine about. Although with The Rock leaving, and hopefully Goldberg's contract not being renewed...It might open up the wallets of the boss' so that they can hire some more decent talent. Personally I think they should have had Evolution beat down HHH so bad he just got fed up and "left"...Then he should return with a big surprise....HHH, HBK, Nash(maybe a couple others, depending on how big Evolution gets) re-creation of DX...I'm pretty sure they can all re-hash the comedy that DX and NWO used to do...and make it seem like new. I personally enjoyed HHH being a jackass joker compared to his "I'm big and I'm bad, watch out" gimmick he's got going.
