Ok, I think the biggest mystery of the playoffs just became just how David "Haystack" Wells landed a wife like that. Well, obviously millions of dollars didn't hurt, but still. Wow.

Steinbrenner looked almost upset that the Yankees won.

I think he really wanted to fire somebody this year

He looked content, but not happy.

I think he's seriously worried about the possibility of having to play either the A's or the Sox.

He looked miserable.

No, that was his "almost happy" face. His miserable face is much angrier looking, while his happy face looks like anyone else's indifferent face.

I half expect to see him just drop dead at one of these games.

The A's remind me of the Phillies and Royals teams of the late 70s. Both teams won their divisions for three straight years, but kept getting beat in the championship series every damned time. If there's a silver lining, its that both teams finally broke through in 1980.

Great I can look forward to 2010.

Its just so hard because its not like they are overmatched in any these past four years and could have won every series but they don't have any killer instinct. Of course these last two game's have ranked up there with Game 3 of 2001 and I thought nothing would come close to that.

With everything that has happened it'll be a minor miracle if they win tommorrow. If they win I won't even care what they do in the ALCS as I'll just be thrilled they got there.

Whichever team wins tomorrow, Sox or As, is screwed because they have to make the flight back to Oakland, and then fly back to NY for the game vs NY on wednesday. Thats a lot of traveling even with the 1 day off.

That royally pissed me off. The Sox and A's will have played essentially 5 games in 6 days with TWO instances where they played extras in a night game and then had to play a 1PM game the next day. On the flip side, the Yankees and Twins had a day off between Games 1 + 2 and an extra travel day to go to Minnesota.

Thank you Fox. Red Sox and A's fans alike would like to give you the ol' BK Salute.

Amen!

I believe tomorrow's game is at 8pm....that will be like a whole day off for these teams(even with the travel lol.

What a SHITTY call right there. Yeah, they only got one run and Wood got out of it, but Lofton clearly caught the ball and that should have been a triple play. Cubs fan, Braves fan, or neutral viewer, you cannot deny that. The Braves just made five outs in that inning and that pissant Giles is complaining. I could admit if Lofton hadn't caught it and it had been close, but that was such a terrible call. Hopefully, that doesn't factor into things.

fucking A's need to to do something tomorrow. I am tired of this shit in the divisional series.

This is the second time in 3 years they have been fucked over in a game that has turned the tide for the other team in the series.

First it was Giambi getting called Out when he was obviously safe if you look at the replay, but his stupid ass didn't slide which made it a close call.

Then Tejada stops on the basepath and gets called out when obviously he should have been awarded the base regardless, however he makes the call close by not finishing a play where the throw to home was so offline, he could have trotted home, but he STOPPED.....

ARRRRGHH DAMMIT.

I know I'm carrying it out a bit too far, but I must ask, why do we have six umpires out there? To get six wrong decisions on plays like that? You can call me biased for being a Cubs fan, but that still is bothering me because instead of Wood pitching a deserved shutout, he's pitching in a three-run game. Not to mentioned he had to tack on a few more pitches because of the bad call. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I must ask, why not use an instant replay in baseball? Is it because it's not "traditional" or something? Because I think that a lot of crap is going by because of no instant replay. It's time like this that I begin to think elements of these games are fixed.

I have a question. Can baseball "judgement" calls be overturned by another umpire.....(not counting whether a batter swung or not).

Bruiser, you aren't making too much out of it. It WAS a horseshit call, and Giles is a whiny little bitch for arguing about it. I hope he gets up again against Wood so Kerry can give him a 97 MPH heater in his earhole. That would make up for his bitching about a play he clearly fucked up on, and for Fick's dirty, cheap shot last night.

The Cubs are holding on so far, but if this game ends up tied at some point, with that fake Furcal run being the difference, I'm going to have someone do some very bad things to these umpires. What a travesty.
