TheBostonStrangler Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 The World Series was cancelled in 1994, due to the strike. It also wasn't played in 1904, due to the manager of the NL team (I think it was John McGraw and the Giants) not wanting to play after the regular season had ended.
Guest Brian Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Taking the first game at Yankee Stadium is a strong way to start off.
CanadianChris Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Nope. Besides 1994, the only other cancellation of the series was in 1904, when the NL champion New York Giants refused to play the AL champion Boston Pilgrims. This was back when the AL was still considered an inferior league by the more-established NL.
CanadianChris Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Taking the first game at Yankee Stadium is a strong way to start off. Yeah, well, we said that about the Twins, too. I hope this series turns out better than that one did.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 I'm praying to God that there is a Red Sox vs. Cubs World Series. That would just be nothing short of awesome.
Guest Choken One Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Problem is...It will HAVE to go 7 games...but could you imagine if it's a sweep or an apathetic 5 game series...
JangoFett4Hire Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Why does it have to go seven games? Â After that Oakland series, I'm really hoping for a sweep
Guest Choken One Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Because we need to squeeze every once of fear and desperation out of these two teams... Â It's appros that they go seven anyways...
JangoFett4Hire Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 No way choken, a nice 4 or 5 games series would do my mental health some good.
Mik Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 I'm off for fall break, so everyone try and not shed too many tears without me posting for games 3, 4, 5, and possibly 6. (And there will be 6 games, you know this.) Â Go Red Sox and Marlins!!
Vern Gagne Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 What does everyone think of having Boone and Leiter do the games? I for one like the idea. Nice to get a current players prespective. Â Also will they do this during the World Series?
CanadianChris Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 I thought both were good, Leiter particularly so. The only problem is they don't get to talk nearly enough due to the verbal diarrhea styles of the rest of the fox announcers.
the max Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Leiter was better than Boone. Â I barely heard anything out of Boone. Maybe I wasn't watching at the right times, but he should assert himself and throw McCarver out of the press box.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 That was hilarious when they were ripping that Yankee fan for lying about the homerun/foul ball incident.
JangoFett4Hire Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Well, if McCarver and Buck weren't Pro-Yankees enough, it's nice to see that they got an impartial voice who, you know, isnn't related to any of the Yankees or anything.
Vern Gagne Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Bullshit if Joe Buck is for the Yankees. He was giddy in saying how much trouble the Yankees where in during the 9th inning. This coming from the same guy, who acted like New York was the Tigers after they lost the first game to the Twins last week. Â No media member outside New York, will ever pull for the Yankees. They hate Steinbrenner too much.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Well, if McCarver and Buck weren't Pro-Yankees enough, it's nice to see that they got an impartial voice who, you know, isnn't related to any of the Yankees or anything. Is that in reference to Bret Boone, brother of Yankees' third baseman Aaron Boone? I know what you're trying to say, but it's still funny, since them being brothers pretty much means that Bret has some relation to the Yanks.
Guest Choken One Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Jesus Bruiser that scarcasm right over your head...
Bruiser Chong Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 It must've. While we're on the subject, english must've gone over your head. Just because I'm a nice guy, I'll translate that into your language: "iT mustive. while Were subject, glish mustive gon your head."

JangoFett4Hire Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Yeah, Bruise, that was in reference the the Fabulous Boone Bros.
iliketurtles Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 REALLY random question, but does anyone know the Eminem song that was used for the video package at the beginning of Game 5 with Sox/A's? Â Thanks.
CanadianChris Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 REALLY random question, but does anyone know the Eminem song that was used for the video package at the beginning of Game 5 with Sox/A's? Thanks. "Sing For The Moment."

iliketurtles Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Just letting you guys know...my Dad check prices for Game 3 this weekend...$650.00 for one bleacher seat. Â Fuck that.
CanadianChris Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Just letting you guys know...my Dad check prices for Game 3 this weekend...$650.00 for one bleacher seat. Fuck that. Holy shit. I could get eight Blue Jays season tickets for that price.
iliketurtles Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Why did Buck just rub Boone's face? And why does Boone have a red mark on his neck? Â AHHH~
CanadianChris Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Well, that was a pretty bad hit-and-run.
