CanadianChris Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 He could not have been expecting that pitch. 2 out.
CanadianChris Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 JESUS CHRIST, THERE IS NO CURSE!!! I hate fox.
the max Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 JESUS CHRIST, THERE IS NO CURSE!!! I hate fox. I thought I was the only one screaming at the TV.
KingPK Posted October 9, 2003 Author Report Posted October 9, 2003 I kind of miss Paul O'Neil beating himself up evertime he made an out. Nice win. Even though I think Game 1's aren't as important in a 7 game series, this was a good performance. And could that ump be any lazier when punching guys out?
iliketurtles Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 THEEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES LOSE THEEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES LOSE
CanadianChris Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Sobering thought: The Red Sox and Cubs are both three wins away from the World Series.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 the one guy is kissing the foul pole...
iliketurtles Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 NICE. My Dad is trying to get tickets for Game 3. FUCK YES.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 God anoint us with a Cubs/Red Sox Series...
KingPK Posted October 9, 2003 Author Report Posted October 9, 2003 Here's a fun factoid: In this era of Interleague play, neither the Sox or Yankees have faced the Cubs during the regular season. That means they'd be going in pretty much unfamiliar with each other. That's kind of nice from a purist's standpoint.
Guest Wildbomb 4:20 Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 And I love that dirty water.....ohhhhh, Boston you're my home! SOX WIN GAME 1...and there's more partying in the streets of Boston. God I love the city
KingPK Posted October 9, 2003 Author Report Posted October 9, 2003 SOX WIN GAME 1...and there's more partying in the streets of Boston. God I love the city Oh geez, IT'S GAME ONE for God's sake!!!
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Here's a fun factoid: In this era of Interleague play, neither the Sox or Yankees have faced the Cubs during the regular season. That means they'd be going in pretty much unfamiliar with each other. That's kind of nice from a purist's standpoint. Uh.. WRONG Yankees played the Cubs earlier this year in Interleague play
JangoFett4Hire Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Yankees and Cubs played this season- remember Kerry Wood denied Clemens win #300...
KingPK Posted October 9, 2003 Author Report Posted October 9, 2003 Really? I must have forgot about that. I'm right on the Sox point, anyway.
Guest Wildbomb 4:20 Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 No rioting this time...no flipping cars. Just a party. Beating the Yankees anytime is a party starter.
treble Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Yeah, Karros hit that homer off of Acevedo, who was promptly released, showed up in Toronto and stunk up the joint as their closer before THEY released him, too.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Cubs vs Red Sox would be an awesome 100th World Series
KingPK Posted October 9, 2003 Author Report Posted October 9, 2003 I still think the Yankees take Game 2. Pettite is just too good and the Sox really haven't hit lefties well.
Vern Gagne Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Cubs vs Red Sox would be an awesome 100th World Series It would only be the 98th. It's the 100th anniversary of the first World Series though.
Guest Choken One Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 They canceled only 94 and one of the war years..I want to say 44...not sure...so wouldn't that be the 100th but only the 98th...
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 The World Series was NOT cancelled during any of the war years. Cardianls won in 42 and 44, Yankees won in 43, and Tigers won in 45.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 For all the star power in baseball by 1945, the World Series may have FELT like it was cancelled. One sportswriter remarked on the upcoming Tigers/Cubs series, "I don't think either team can win."
Guest Choken One Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Damn Geena Davis movie hoodwinked me...I could've sworn they said baseball was canceled that year...Never trust a movie with Lori Petty. EVER.
JangoFett4Hire Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 I thought it was cancelled during WW1? No? 1914?
