Guest JMA Report post Posted October 4, 2003 In the November issue of WWE magazine, Aaron Williams "examines" Canadians in his article "The Truth." This is the same guy who attacked "smarts" and gives verbal blowjobs to all the heels. Here are some of the things he said. 1: Canadians cheer their own and boo all Americans. 2: Canadians live in the past and can't look forward to the future. (He basically said the same things HBK did). 3: Canadians have to be told everything twice. He also said he would respond to any intelligent responses to his claims. Frankly, this guy pisses me off (and not in a heel kind of way). His spouting of the company line disgusted me. It's sad the way the WWE hires "yes men" who have no real opinions of their own. Anyway, check out the article if you want a good laugh.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted October 4, 2003 Is Williams just kayfabing and doing a heel article? It just seems like he's using reverse physcology. WP-Canadian and proud of it! Curses, looks like his article is working on me.
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted October 4, 2003 Yeah, I'm pretty sure Williams is WWE magazine's heel commentator. The article was MEANT to be offensive and dumb. Geez, people complain about all the "catering to internet fans" and "shootz~!" and then get really confused when something is done in kayfabe.

Guest JMA Report post Posted October 4, 2003 But why would he repeat what Michaels said if he was doing a heel schtich?
Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted October 4, 2003 Because Michaels did it in Canada, where he's considered a heel. He was TRYING to get heel heat the night he said that, and thats the same thing Williams is doing.

I don't think he was playing his heel character there. Especially not when they had Jericho turn on the fans.

No. I think both Vince and HBK thought that he was supposed to still be a face even after saying Montreal "lives in the past". You've got to remember, Vince thinks Canada is like some far off third-world country. That's why all the Canadian wrestlers act like they're from Communist China and all the Canadian fans are given no respect.

Than I just realised it was the WWE being stupid. Than all the confusion went away.

Toxxic 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2003 You think the Canadians got it bad? You trying being British. We've had three (count them) wrestlers in the WWF/E since it's inception - Dynamite, Davey Boy and Regal. And God bless Regal for playing up to the stereotypical "Englishmen ALWAYS wear suits and are really up themselves and speak really posh" gimmick. OK, La Resistance score higher on the retarded scale, but there's two things that need mentioning: 1) As everyone knows, Grenier and Dupree aren't French, they're French-Canadian (although we can score one more Canadian-bashing point for that if you want). Darren Matthews is actually English, i.e. belongs to the country he 's denigrating. 2) As retarded as it is, La Resistance was created for a purpose - to get cheap heat off the French's uneasiness for the 2nd Gulf War. Regal's gimmick is a back-handed non-thinking stereotype given out because that's the only portrayal of an Englishman that the WWE thinks its fans will recognise. Is it too much to ask for them to bring in Jody Fleisch and just let him wrestle like a maniac without bothering too much about his accent?

Guest ToddRoyal Report post Posted October 5, 2003 Ya Fleisch retired for personal reasons that were reportedly not wrestling related. I doubt we'll be seeing him in the WWE anytime soon. Wouldn't mind seeing Doug Williams come in and put on come clinics with Angle or Benoit though.
Toxxic 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2003 Fleisch is retired? Now that's a damn shame. I saw him at an indy UK show early this year and despite the crowd numbering about 50 (mainly kids and their parents) he and a guy called Lukas Cool put on some wrestling that would have sat well with anything the SD Cruisers come up with. OK, bring in the Anarchist then.

I think it must just have to do with discrepancies in American and Canadian cultures, as well as us really not knowing what Britain is about. Most Americans, when asked about the English, will associate Shakespeare, castles, London, and the royal family. Oh and Austin Powers. We think the British are superior, but we resent it, so we mock them with our stereotypical English butlers. I think the Canadians have more of a British influence on their culture and can make a more accurate stereotype (?) than we can.

Sort of like a Scotsman without the kilt That's the stereotypical Irishman in America. For some reason English are snobby "gentlemen" as noted before. My theory is it has to deal with the differences in spelling (ie colour, centre). We American's don't like being told we're wrong. HIs replacement (Brandi something or another) has nothing on him. Brandi Manckewitz or some such spelling. Which I believe was another of Apter's "personalities". And yes she/he/it was nothing comapred to Ellner.
