Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 Now that I have a GBA [and hopefully I'll be getting an SP for X-Mas], I was wondering what games are good, in your opinion. Anything good enough to buy, or just rent?

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 Shantae (GBC) Puyo Pop or Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (GBA) Iridion II if you like shooters (NOT Iridion 3D), (GBA) Any Wario Land title is a good pickup. Either Fire Pro Wrestling title (GBA). Pretty much any Kirby platformer Pinball of the Dead (GBA). AVOID: DBZ: Legacy of Goku (GBA) Iridion 3D (GBA) Sega Smash Pack (it's not worth it since you can find all the titles on Genesis for less, Spinball isn't very good) (GBA). dubq 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 Tactics Advance, nuff said. And, in November.. River City Ransom and Double Dragon! OH YEAH!
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 (edited) Oh yeah. If you like annoying, whiny main characters, mind-numbingly boring "stragety" gameplay, and shitty stories, definitely go for FF Tactics Advance. You'll love it! And, in November.. River City Ransom and Double Dragon! OH YEAH! Those too, so avoid Final Fight One. Metriod Fusion (That woefully, woefully owned Prime) Er, no. Fusion is, to me, the second worst Metroid game ever (II beats it out). Of course, it's still a good game. Edited October 6, 2003 by AndrewTS

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 Ninja Cop Five-O - its the best ninja game out, even better than the lame Shinobi game on GBA. Isn't that damning with faint praise? Boxing Fever - is Punch Out on GBA! Not like that awful Punch King I hope. I can't believe that nobody has suggested WARIO WARE MEGA MICROGAME$~! Did anyone besides me get that game? It was fucking awesome! It's an odd game that may not appeal to everyone. Still, Dr. Wario is a great game by itself.

Yes, Andrew, we already know that you're not into the game. Different strokes, different folks. FFTA is a perfectly acceptable RPG for the GBA, IMO <--- Notice the IMO... Okay, that's better. It's the thought that counts, and I happen to sincerely think FFTA sucks, and is an insulting piece of tripe with a battle system that is woefully in need of updating and smoothing out. Although if you judge it by just the battle system and not the story, it's not so bad. I second Circle of the Moon being somewhat blah. It's the only Castlevania game I'd sold after I purchased it. Oh, and Yuna, the other GBA CVs star bishonen! You love those!

razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 Ok so I got some of my games confused with others, I meant Boxing King and Turok Evolution. Oh and I did not like Revenge of Shinobi on GBA. Just try before you buy ROMs are great
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 (edited) Ok so I got some of my games confused with others, I meant Boxing King and Turok Evolution. Never heard of Boxing King. Punch King, yeah. I think you were right the first time, though. Yeah I know, a Belmont bishomen? Whats up with that? Well, the current Castlevania artist, Ayami Kojima, draws her dudes that way. It isn't really an issue during gameplay or anything, so I don't care. Edited October 7, 2003 by AndrewTS
Vyce 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 Meatwad has the most correct answer - YOU WANT ADVANCE WARS. You want not only Advance Wars, but ADVANCE WARS 2. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. There's been a lot of other good games recommended here, go by them. If you're into fighting games, check out Street Fighter 3 and King of Fighters ("Howling Wind" I think - not the "Neo Blood" version. Blood is decent, but Howling allows you to play as Iori Yagami!). Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 Agrees with Mad Dog ^^ It all depends on what you like. What are your favorite genres? Hmm... RPGs, strategy games, stuff like that. Oh, and Yuna, the other GBA CVs star bishonen! You love those! Yeah, I know, I've seen some of the artwork in a few gaming mags. It's like...whoah. Hotness! But, um, yeah, that's just me... Thanks for all the suggestions ^.^ Oh yeah. If you like annoying, whiny main characters, mind-numbingly boring "stragety" gameplay, and shitty stories, definitely go for FF Tactics Advance. You'll love it! The first FFT game's story sucked....I was completely confused as to what was going on. But the job system and levelling up and stuff was cool. So, if FFTA's story sucks as bad as you say it does, then I'll simply ignore it.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 7, 2003 I'd also recommend Phantasy Star Collection Lunar - if you don't own the PSX version
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 I'd also recommend Phantasy Star Collection Lunar - if you don't own the PSX version Lunar is on GBA? Whoah....awesome! I -did- own the PSX version. *shrug* Are both Lunars on GBA, or just Silver Star Story?
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 I love the first FFT. It is kind of like Once Upon a Time in Mexico with people turning face/heel so often that you can't remember which side everybody is on before they get killed. It also has by far the highest bodycount I've ever seen in an RPG. Awesome stuff.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 7, 2003 Silver Star Story. Although it's not exactly like the PSX version. Can't move around in battle and stuff. Good luck finding it too.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 I should use the edit button more often, here is some more games I like: Pinball of the Dead Super Monkey Ball Jr. Robotech the Macross Saga Pacman Collection Mr Driller Contra Advance (Contra: Alien Wars) Super Dodge Ball Super Ghouls N Ghost Bobble Bubble Old&New Rainbow Islands GBC Dragon Warrior 1&2 Dragon Warrior 3 Elevator Action Old&New
Cran Da Maniac 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 Super Mario Advance is coming out on the 21st. Seems like a good game to me (SMB 3 ruled the school baby!)

So, if FFTA's story sucks as bad as you say it does, then I'll simply ignore it. Ever see the commercials? Yes, THOSE are your heroes. Uber-geeky little pathetic teens, who I suppose Squeenix hoped the players would identify with. If I didn't hate Square already I'd be insulted. The whole war theme is ditched for some kids' pathetic romp in a fantasy world. The battle system is kinda hurt by the Judge Point system. Randomly you'll be told you CAN'T use a certain thing at the start of each battle, and you'll be penalized if you do. However, often times you don't know exactly what the judge means and you'll screw up. --all these are MY opinion, anyway. The GBA Lunar is a bit different I hear, but not a great deal. Someone who played it should probably be able to tell you. Possibly future purchase: Metroid Zero Mission-remake of the original Metroid given a Super Metroid-style treatment. DEFINITE MUST BUY--for me if I don't get the PS2 version--Metal Slug 3. Coming in December. An amazingly fun side-scrolling shooting game. It's kind of like Contra, but more fun, with cuter/better art, and even more firepower at your disposal. Blow lots of stuff up--more awesome for multiplayer. It isn't really an issue during gameplay or anything, so I don't care. Yes I am aware of Ayami Kojima being the current CV artist, its just Belmonts were never bishomen. Characters like Alucard and Soma arent Belmonts so they are understandable, I just think they could have given Juste a much better design without being a girl (see Julius). Renegade 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 I wouldnt want to see a port of 3 on the gba, the measly little thing couldnt handle it. Just hope MS 3 is released outside the Japan, or mod your console and import it like I did, because its really worth it. Also pardon my ignorance but when exactly was a port of MS 3 announced for the GBA? I thought MS advance was still due…
