Guest Redhawk Report post Posted October 6, 2003 This was the one with the little kids being all sad and asking, "Why is Kobe in trouble, mom?" Just wondering what you thought of it.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 When I saw that this was going to be on SportsCenter I turned off the TV, so I, too, am curious as to what was said. Wonder if any kids asked Tom Jackson if they had to allegedly have forced sexual intercourse outside of wedlock in order to be a basketball star...

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2003 The part that cracked me up was the father saying "what do I do when my daughter asks about words such as Rape?" hmmmmmm, if you want to shelter your daughter from this, how about NOT using your family on the SportsCenter special about it. If I wanted to shield my daughter from something, I'd probably not appear on TV talking about it.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted October 6, 2003 What I want to know is, how did they find these particular families? I know one of the guys had written a letter to Sports Illustrated, so maybe that's how they found him, but what about the others? Had they written letters to ESPN talking about how their kids reacted? Were they friends of some ESPN employees and the ESPN employees were like, "Actually, I know a guy who's son is the biggest Kobe fan..."? Did the reporter go door-to-door, asking people if their kids were Kobe fans? Like it was said earlier, why would you appear on a ESPN segment about it if you don't want your kids to know all about it? If anything, that kid is now going to be all over ESPN, because he was on their TV show. And all of his friends as well. I know if I were 8 and one of my buddies said he was on ESPN, I'd watch it that day and probably for the next few days just because.

Ah, my boycott of ESPN hit at just the right time, apparently. Did anybody blame Rush for the Kobe trial? -=Mike

lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2003 Kids need to look at real role models like Randy Moss and Jeremy Shockey. They do things the right way, like play when they want to, call people cool names like "homo", run over law enforcement officers

Yah, I mean last I checked, everyone was told to tell their kids at a very young age to be familiar with these terms in case anything of the sort happened to them. Now all of the sudden we don't want our kids to know these terms? Simple ways to explain thing to children.

I'm sure a defense lawyer would argue that the person didn't know what rape was, so they can't get in trouble for it...
