I fail to see when Taratino was shocking just for the sake of being shocking. Has Taratino been making Mondo films between his big films and I've been unaware this whole time?

I must see a Taratino mondo film now.

Mondo films are exploitation films who's main redeeming quality is their shock value.

In other words great movies.

Tarantino is hardly violent just for the sake of it, except for possibly in FDTD and he didn't even direct that. I never go into or leave a Tarantino movie going "Damn! Blood everywhere! Such and such effect was cool too" I leave thinking I saw a fine film (well in most cases with him) and that the violence made perfect sense with the story.

Violence for the hell of it is Dead Alive, which works perfectly because they don't try to disguise it as anything but that. Tarantino is the exact opposite.

As one critic pointed out, we'll most likely get THREE DVDs.

Vol I, wait several months, then Vol II, wait several months, and then a Spec. Ed. with the two combined.

Just another way to get more money, after all, we are going to have to pay $18 to $20 for 1 freakin movie, since they are calling this 1 movie, split in two.

Yes...It's a given that they will release a DVD of each part before releasing a DVD with both parts.

I'll probably just buy the seperate DVDs and then wait to see if Tarantino takes the time to give the DVD with both parts the deluxe DVD treatment with a ton of extras. If the DVD with both parts isn't a deluxe version with tons of extras I'll just stick with the seperate DVDs.

Just saw it. I won't go so far as to say "best movie of the year", but I will say it is certainly one of the best and definitely going to be a cult classic. Beautiful acting by Uma, as she knows exactly what to do in each scene (probably because of her history with Tarantino in PF). The fight scenes were much more well done than anything made this side of the Atlantic in a long time. The chessy, half manga/half western style Tarantino uses will definitely get him a nod from the Emmy's. The only problems are yes, the split between Vol. 1 and 2 does hurt the movie and the plot can sometimes not only be cheesy but drawn out. You could tell some of it was padding to fill out this 2-hour volume. As for the gore, not horrible considering we've seen the same stuff done in video games and Jason movies a hundred times. i think the real shocker is that instead of a undead zombie hacking heads off we have kamona-wearing Lucy-Liu quietly killing businessmen.

LotR may top it but sign me up for Vol.2 in Feb.

I just got home about 10mins ago. Easily my favorite movie of the year. Tarantino has not dissapointed me yet. Nothing much else to say that hasn't already been said except, holy fuck I can't wait for vol. 2.

the 17 year old assasin chick was fucking GORGEOUS.

I know, and when she started fighting with Uma I was like "aww man, I hate to see how Uma's gonna end up fucking her up"

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Sure enough she did, nails to the head Yeouch!

I was probably too caught up wondering about all the violence to take time to ingest the film (2nd viewing will be necessary).

It's actually more melancholly than QT's previous works, there's a sadness throught the film, a "why did it have to come to this" vibe.

Oh and Lucy's speech at the meeting...GOLD!

And WTF is Loder talking about? Alot of people liked Jackie Brown!

In my opinion, (and having not seen Kill Bill Vol. 2 yet), Jackie Brown is QT's best work to date. I watch it more than Pulp Fiction, and I am more engrossed by the characters. It's also a beautiful love story.

It's one of my favorite films. Period.

I just saw this movie tonight, and it was awesome.

The only beef I have with it is when body parts get cut off, they bleed like woah. Maybe that is something to do with kung-fu movies or something, but I didn't like it.

Other than that, everything just flowed so well. Uma was excellent in this movie, her acting to the fight scenes. It never went to slow, nor did it go to fast. Like I said, everything just flowed together so well.

Best movie I have seen all year. This deserves an Oscar, though I doubt it will get one.
