Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Some of these are old news, but I just now read them. I thought y'all like to hear about the new possible remakes. I can't vouch for the validity of this so don't take any of it as concrete fact. Source - http://www.allhorrormovies.com/ Salem's Lot Remake Well, there is another remake on its way. That is the remake of Stephen King's classic vampire film, Salem's Lot. Rob Lowe is scheduled to star in this film. I liked the original mini-series, and I really don't see why we would have to get a remake of it. Oh well, as long as it's done right, I'll check it out. Since the original was a made for TV mini series, I can live with this remake. Zombie Remake Paul Anderson is planning on remaking the classic Fulci film, Zombie...need I say more? Only person slated to star in it so far is Mila Jovovich. Noooo...Paul Anderson already showed on Resident Evil he can't handle zombies correctly. King Kong is Back Peter Jackson is currently working on a remake of King Kong. Jackson plans on working with Fran Walsh on the script, which they promise will be based on the original story by Merian C. Cooper and Edgar Wallace, the story that eventually lead to the highly influential 1933 RKO film. They have said they will expand on some of the scenes that take place on Skull Island, and that Kong himself will be simply breathtaking. Jackson had this to say, "No film has captivated my imagination more than 'King Kong.' I'm making movies today because I saw this film when I was 9 years old. It has been my sustained dream to reinterpret this classic story for a new age...The story of Kong offers everything that any storyteller could hope for: an archetypal narrative, thrilling action, resonating emotion and memorable characters. It has endured for precisely these reasons and I am honored to be a part of its continuing legacy." Jackson will shoot the film in his native New Zealand. The creature effects will be handled by the people of Weta. It sounds like it will be great, so no problems here. Chopping Mall Remake Well it looks like Artisan is keeping up with the current trend of remaking classic horror films. This time it's Chopping Mall. A movie about a group of teens trapped in a mall with killer security robots, the original was a very good movie and I highly recomend finding a copy somewhere before the remake comes out. Now they are even remaking 80's B horror movies...hooray Invasion of the Body Snatchers: Warner Bros. has plans on remaking this movie yet again. No writter has been hired yet. Warner says they want to focus on a female lead who discovers the town has been invaded by pod people. Why must they start remaking remakes? The Fly Re-make: Fox is bringing us more of what we want, well ok not really, but this could be interesting. It seems as if Fox is planning on re-making The Fly yet again. No details are known at this time about the upcoming film, but newcomer Todd Lincoln has been given the "re-imagining" duties. Why must they start remaking remakes? Halloween remake: Incase you missed it on the board, Dimension IS planning on remaking the classic horror film, Halloween. They are offering John Carpenter many many dollars to direct, is this a good thing? I don't know, why remake a classic flick that was dead on the first time? I'll keep you all posted when more is known. WHAT IN THE HELL ARE THEY THINKING...HAYSOOS CHRISTO...AND WHAT'S THE POINT OF DOING A REMAKE IF YOU BRING IN THE ORIGINAL DIRECTOR! Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Since they have run out of ideas in Hollywood studios have decided to do what they always do: cannibalize their old ideas. God help us all when that Superman remake comes out.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Satanico, evenflow, Zack, Nevermortal, Downhome, and the other b-movie/horror afficianado's...lend me your ears for these brief moments. I say we conspire. Not against a government, not against an agency, but against a single man. A man that is responsible for one of the biggest upsets in horror film history. A man responsible for some of the flat-out biggest rip-off scenes in cinematic history. A man that gives horror directors a bad name. This man is no other than Paul Anderson. Anderson's only acceptable work has been Event Horizon, and even that has its own fair share of critics that would say the movie is terrible. And now, he is remaking a film that set standards for exploitation cinema, many of which have still yet to be broken. He is remaking a film that will be dumbed down, be commercialized, and will no longer be as prestigious as it once was. And that films is Zombie. Friends, Horror fans, cine-men...lend me your arms. For in this war, there can only be one outcome. And that outcome is our victory. So bang the drums, load your guns, and shine your swords, gentlemen. The war is at hand. But what side are you on? Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Down with Anderson...we should finish him in a way that reflects the exploitation films he aims to destroy in his foolish hands. We should off him in Cannibal Holocaust style. In respect to those with a weak stomach I'll link the picture instead of posting it.
Swift Terror 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 The two most egregious on that list have to be Halloween and The Fly. So now Brundlefly will be CGI? great. I still don't get remaking Texas CSM and Dawn of the Dead. By the way, any thoughts on how 'House of the Dead' will be? I also hear 'Undead' rocks (from people who have seen it overseas). Zombies movies are making a comeback!
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Yeah, but for the most part the undead rebirth has sucked. Few of them have lived up to the zombie genre.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted October 11, 2003 King Kong could be good. At the very least, better than the 70s remake, which featured Kong seemingly doing a quasi moonsault off of the World Trade Center when he was shot down. Jackson seems to "get" it and while I don't like the LOTR' flicks, he did direct Dead Alive, so I'll give it a shot. No reason to remake Halloween. And The Fly had a VERY well done remake made, what, 15 years ago? Christ.

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Ugh. All of those sound like lame movies to begin with, but even so, they'd be much better than the remakes, I'm sure. I mean, all horror in Hollywood is anymore is a bunch of lame "scares", and I use the term loosely, and tons of fake-looking CGI. What's the point of spending all the money on all that technology for the movie when you know from the start that noone's going to see it?
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Wonder which rapper will star in the Halloween remake?...

Well ok, I'll admit that Zombie and Chopping Mall aren't for everyone and can only be appreciated by certian people.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Who was the person who posted on here that was a fan of Chopping Mall? I remember someone had it in their sig or something. And I just saw Body Snatchers last night on TCM ( I think..) and the only thing I got out of the remake was how bad the sound effects were.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 I think it would be better if they redid some of the 50-60's horror/sci fi movies. At least theres a reason for that, as opposed to re-doing movies that are barely 25-30 years old if that.

At least theres a reason for that, as opposed to re-doing movies that are barely 25-30 years old if that. Yeah but then they'd end up picking the ones that actually were good. Out of all the 50's Sci Fi movies, they'd pick the one considered to be the best, The Day The Earth Stood Still instread of one of the countless others that aren't very good. I'm waiting for... NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 I am not sure why they want to remake Halloween when every other year a new halloween sequel comes out to disgrace the original. It is not like Halloween has lost touch with the youth. Every person my age and younger loves the original. Fucking movie studios are holding creativity down it seems. Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 with every remake, a little piece of me dies. fucking CHOPPING MALL?! Are they gonna remake CHUD next? What about The Stuff? Zombie I MIGHT could deal with as long as they keep true to the original. They're referring to the one on the island, right? They need more movies like that. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 11, 2003 with every remake, a little piece of me dies. fucking CHOPPING MALL?! Are they gonna remake CHUD next? What about The Stuff? I'd find much humor in them remaking more 80's B horror movies. Zombie I MIGHT could deal with as long as they keep true to the original. They're referring to the one on the island, right? Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Are Ben and Jennifer still doing Casablanca? Because that can be guaranteed to be a billion times worse than any of the mentioned remakes so far. That's just a rumor that gets started with about every Hollywood Power Couple. I'm looking forward to Jackson's King Kong. The original is his favorite movie and he's been trying to get this made for quite some time now.

Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 There's really no need to re-make Zombie because the first one was pretty bad, in my opinion. Now, if they decided to remake Cannibal Holocaust, I'd have some respect.
godthedog 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 There are original ideas in hollywood somewhere, the studios are just afraid of risks like always. yeah, something like that. there's NEVER a shortage of ideas out there, the ideas are just never in the same place as the money. and i'd be VERY surprised if more than one of these projects actually gets made. hollywood plans to remake shit all the time. studio heads spend millions of dollars making deals with various people & paying people to write scripts for projects that never get off the ground. for every movie that does happen, there's 20 that don't. remember the plans to remake 'casablanca', with sean penn playing rick? Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Like someone else said Casablanca has been rumored for every power couple. Surprised Gone with the Wind has never been involved with such rumors.
PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Only one of these that honestly could raise above total crap level is King Kong (still can no way ever come near topping the first one so why even try?) I liked Chopping Mall too, I will be very saddened to see it get slaughtered.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Zombie with a decent director would have potential to be a good remake. I like the original, but it could be improved upon. If Paul Anderson is doing it, it'll be shite. The Fly and Invasion of The Body Snatchers could turn out good, but it would depend on the directors and casts.
