Vern Gagne Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 It's only October but the playoffs have had so many great games. Just curious what are some of your favorite games in all sports so far this year? Quick Baseball-Boston vs Oakland-Game 5 Florida vs Chicago-Game 1 NFL-Indianapolis vs Tampa Bay College Football-Miami vs Ohio St. NASCAR-Craven vs Busch
Agent_Bond34 Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Baseball - N/A Football - Oakland vs Tampa Bay (I LOVED watching Oakland get their sorry asses handed to them. It shut those Raider-Nation scumbags up, and it was glorious) and college, I gotta go with Miami vs Ohio State. Basketball - Sacramento vs Dallas - 2nd regular season meeting in Dallas. Hockey - Too many to list. I have a lot of favorites from this year, most of which were from the playoffs.
The Czech Republic Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Ottawa Senators d. New Jersey Devils in Game 6. Anaheim Mighty Ducks d. Detroit Red Wings in Game 4. 5OT game between Anaheim and Dallas. The Vancouver-Minnesota series.
HarleyQuinn Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 NFL - Tampa Bay vs Carolina Others I would list but don't feel like doing so right now
the max Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals (1-0 Ducks in 2OT) Game 7 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals (Minnesota wins in OT) Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals (emotional night for Paul Kariya) Pretty much the entire Marlins v. Giants NLDS series.
sfaJack Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 I personally loved the Yankees/Cubs series back in June. Specifically the Wood v. Clemens game, where Roger got denied his 300th win. Great stuff. Cubs/Marlins Game 1 is great, even though the Cubbies lost. Cubs/Marlins Game 3 is even better, for obvious reasons.
bob_barron Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Game 6 between Leafs and Flyers. I was there up in the cheap seats and watched an emotionally draining game that saw overtime periods that had me living and dying by every shot. (All the chances Toronto got in the first OT, the penalty they had to kill) until they finally were able to light the lamp in the second OT. I agree with all the other hockey games listed and I'd like to add- Leafs v. Flyers Game 3 (Yea I was there too) Detroit v. Anaheim Game 1
The Mandarin Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Plinko. .. Leafs/Flyers. Usually the Leafs make it past the first round. But it was not to be.
treble Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 Last season's NHL all-star game was awesome.
the max Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 I didn't know if we were counting that, since it's an All-Star game.
the pinjockey Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 MLB - Boston/Philadelphia - 13th inning Todd Pratt walk off. Spring Darlington (Busch and Winston Cup) were great. Hockey - Flyers/Leafs Game 7 (I realize this isn't the best, but it is a personal fave, I was there, and the Flyers need some love in this thread)
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 football - Giants vs. Cowboys, monday night baseball - game 4(?) Red Sox vs. A's. The one Ortiz won.
iliketurtles Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 The last 3 games in the A's/Boston series. I'm still having post-tramauatic stress syndrome.
Guest Choken One Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 Baseball- Game Five of the Oak/Sox Game Football- Can't say yet... Nascar-Spring Darlington of course...
Red Baron Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 game 7 between the Leafs and Flyers. Great night for Leaf fans. and also Montreal defeats Toronto last night, mainly because i won 30 bucks.
packwingfn Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 Dallas/Anaheim 5 OT game I stayed up for the whole game and went to bed right when it ended at 2am, and woke up a half hour later because I had a plane to catch. Lets just say, that was a long but fun day
Gert T Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 I'd like to add for NBA the Lakers-Rockets game that was the first matchup between Yao & Shaq, great game.
Guest Bricks Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 NBA - Houston vs Los Angeles Lakers. Yao vs Shaq for the first time ever. Yao blocks Shaq 3 times in a row, the game goes to overtime and Yao clinches it with a dunk. Steve Francis also played the best game of his life that night. And an honorable mention to the Lakers vs Spurs playoff game where the Lakers almost make a huge comeback in the 4th quarter but just miss when Robert Horry's 3-Pointer goes in and out. NCAA Basketball - Syracuse vs Kansas for the NCAA Championship.
Austin3164life Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 NFL- Indianapolis vs. Tampa Bay Shows why no NFL QB is on Manning's level
TheBostonStrangler Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 The last 3 games of the A's/Boston series were all INCREDIBLE, INCREDIBLE games, and Game 1 was badass as well (even though the Red Sox lost). With the exception of Game 2, all the games were SUPERB, and this might have been the best postseason series I've ever seen. Besides that, I'd have to go with the Bucs/Colts game from MNF a week or two ago, which was superb. I'll let the hockey fans handle their sport, and I know I'm forgetting a really good NBA game from earlier this year. However, my pick for current GOTY is.... Maryland's first-round game in the NCAA tournament against UNC-Wilmington. Maryland's guy hitting the running 3 while falling out of bounds as time expires to win it....god, what a great, great fucking game. I hate Maryland, so I was pissed when they won, but GODDAMN, that was a good game.
Agent_Bond34 Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 I didn't know if we were counting that, since it's an All-Star game. I'd count it. That game kicked ass. and Max, I hate your new avatar.
Vern Gagne Posted October 13, 2003 Author Report Posted October 13, 2003 That 16 inning game between the Astros and Cubs, that was like 2-1 was one of the best regular season games.
the max Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 and Max, I hate your new avatar. Heh. Don't blame me, it's just for brownie points. I couldn't name 2 players.
Agent_Bond34 Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 and Max, I hate your new avatar. Heh. Don't blame me, it's just for brownie points. I couldn't name 2 players. I hate the team, that's all.
the max Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 Oh, football rivalries. It'll be gone soon
