WWE news from Wade

Recommended Posts

Shortly after this, Vince lost confidence in Flair for reasons that Bret didn't know or particularly care about, and one morning before a TV taping in Saskatoon they sprung the idea on him of making him the champ. Bret, in retrospect, thinks that had it happened even a day after they planned it out, the political vultures would have had enough time to shoot it down and he never would have gotten it. Ric apologized for the relatively low quality of the matches they had. Bret didn't like Ric's here-and-there-and-everywhere psychology, but thinks he's still a hell of a worker.

I can't prove what I'm about to say so take it with a grain of salt, but I heard Flair was supposed to job the title to the Ultimate Warrior originally at that very Oct. 12 show, but Warrior having his ego wanted to win the title on a PPV instead and not in Canada. So Vince said fuck it and cut a deal with Bret that if Bret renewed his contract, he would get the title, and then the Warrior left the following month and the rest is history.

First of all CC, it says that someone who worked for mel phillips as a wwf ringboy raped the 12 yr-old not mel himself.

I thought pat patterson was the one accused of raping mel phillips, not sure though.

And yes, anyone who rapes 12 year-olds should be executed.

When Jimmy Yang started negotiating his deal, there was talk of teaming him with Tajiri. But Tajiri has gotten a push as a single since then, so who knows if that will happen.

WHY...why must ALL Japanese wrestlers by default team with other Japanese wrestlers, or feud with oither Japanese wrestlers in the WWE. Why?

- Bret Hart did a radio interview in Toronto and said: "What could you possibly see in Ric Flair? I mean this. This is the truth. Ric Flair was the most overrated wrestler there ever was. If you've seen Ric Flair wrestle once, you've seen him wrestle a million times. He's the most uncreative, unimaginative wrestler there ever was. He was the pits. You don't know anything about wrestling if you think Ric Flair is the greatest wrestler. (Wrestling) Ric Flair was the biggest letdown of my entire career. On a scale of one-to-ten, I'd rate Ric Flair about a three. He sucks."

Suddenly all the Hitman fans on the board will begin to hate Ric Flair.

Sheep, all of you.

Flair > Bret

True and why all the good workers need to go to SD , doesn't RAW need some good wrestlers too? :gas:

- Nathan Jones has been assigned to OVW, but if they care enough to make sure he goes there remains to be seen.

- In addition to his eye surgery, and his contract renegotiation, Rikishi was given some time off to be with an ill family member. He has renewed his contract. Too Cool reunited at a Memphis show.

Well, I know I'll sleep better knowing that they still have 2 fat, un-over samoans working there.

- Certain WWE suits who don't blame the company for declining ratings are pointing their fingers at Viacom for the Spike TV switch, saying Raw/WWE wasn't heavily promoted as part of Spike TV when Viacom pushed it nationally and people haven't been able to find them. But they'll still renew with Viacom anyway.

Oh, for god's sake.... Maybe it's due to the shitty product you're putting out, guys!

- An 80's WWF ring boy who worked under Mel Phillips, and who is now a grown man, BUTT-raped a 12 year old boy and is in jail.

Ok, I can see the obvious jokes about this. but really, why was this in the news update? Just because he was a RING RAT in the 80's?

Keller: Do you think steroids are dangerous?

Raven: No, when used moderately. I don't think anything is dangerous when used moderately. It's like you could kill yourself with antibiotics if you take too many of them. You can kill yourself with aspirin of you take too many of them. Steroids are the same way. If used intelligently, they're incredibly safe. You could get by on a small cycle off and on for 20, 30 years. Do you ever see people dropping dead in the bodybuilding community who have been around for 50 years using them? No. The only guys dropping dead are the guys who get into the diarrehetics and the really toxic sh--, but the roids aren't killing anybody. Otherwise we'd be seeing all of these 1970s bodybuilders dead now because you know they're still using sh-- off and on. You don't hear about it. Schwarzenegger is still doing fine. All the bodybuilders from Pumping Iron are still doing fine. I mean, it's one of those things that they have been given a bad name because society doesn't want you to do it. But that doesn't mean that it's definitely bad for you. Almost anything is fine for you in moderation

Wildpegasus-Just wanted to note that both Mentzer brothers are dead from I believe heart attacks.

Isn't Phillips the kid that got raped by one of the WWF employees?

Philips is the guy who did all sorts of strange sexual things with the ring boys. If you watch some 80s shows, he is the black ring announcer with the fro.

- There's an ongoing feeling that saddling Eddie with Chavo, either with the two of them feuding or as buds, is dragging Eddie down from the potential he has to get into the upper card. It was an obvious fit for them to be connected, but company insiders really think it's slowing the momentum Eddie had.

It is. Eddie needs to jettison Chavo STAT.

As for Raven advocating the legalization of all drugs - let's keep in mind this is coming from a guy who has said that he literally cannot remember entire portions of his life due to his substance abuse.

I think what Meltzer meant earlier about the whole "Shane's leg will be broken" comment is that someone will retaliate for Shane breaking Test's leg at the house show (which I saw in person).

It's strange too because the other day I was commenting on how Shane seriously needs to watch himself in the ring....someone's eventually gonna get sick of him and take him out legit.

Bret is much better than Billington.

Oh, and wrestlers who "suck" don't tend to have the great matches Flair did. Sure, from a pure in-ring standpoint Flair is overrated by some, but he didn't suck.

I can't say I could really rate Dynamite since I have only seen his WWF tag stuff with Davey Boy.

Some of those comments about Flair being unimaginative are pretty funny from Bret, considering that he spent half his career doing "The 5 Moves of Doom."

Flair and Bret are both overrated (but still good).

Steve Austin is the best WWF/E wrestler ever.

Chew on that~! ;)

Dynamite didn't impress me and I seen those Matches with Tiger Mask and countless others in Japan..Bret was more enjoyable.

I can't see how. Bret had everything Dynamite had and more. The only thing Dyno has over Hart is that he was a revolutionary worker. Bret has had a far more impressive array of good matches, with a variety of opponents (unlike DK, who outside of Davey or TM didn't really have any other great singles matches), was a much bigger star and was 10 times better on the mic.

Easy conclusion to any "whose better" debate..

Bret carried Nash to a ***3/4-**** match....Has DK? Didn't think so.
