Guest Boo_Bradley Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Will radio's original shock-jock work with WWE? WWE is in early talks with radio personality Howard Stern about appearing at WrestleMania XX in New York City next year. Talks are still VERY early and no deal has been reached. It should be noted that WWE has tried to get Stern to appear at shows many times in the past, but a deal has never worked out.
BifEverchad 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Bringing back the CELEBS~! Sweet, thats old school baby!
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Howard said that he was never offered a deal for when he was rumored to (in 1999 i think) when reports said he turned down a .5 million dollar contract and he said...He would never turn down half a million dollars just to walk Sable to the ring (which was the rumor)...He said he'd do that for free... Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Howard Stern is GOD! That would so fucking rule if he showed up at XX with the reigning Miss Howard Stern!
Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 That's no Mike Tyson. Seriously, my interest in wrestling is just nil. I have tickets to this show, but I can't manage to care about it (of course, I can't afford to travel to it either, but I'm remaining upbeat that I'll be going anyway.) Then again, this ALWAYS happens to me around No Mercy and SurSer. Vince just runs out of angles at this point.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 13, 2003 I just hope it's not for a fucking Beauty Contest or something... Just let him accompy the face woman (trish most likely) or be an special ref for the woman's match...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Vince does need that one HUGE intangible like Tyson but who?
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 They should get rap ICON Macho Man Randy Savage to rap battle with John Cena.
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Oh My God, if Howard Stern fucks up one of the potentially watchable matches (the women's one) then I'll be pissed. If it's the otherwise useless Smackdown chicks then yeah whatever.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 13, 2003 I wouldn't mind Vince bringing in a Rap performer since they are in NYC and they have gone the nu metal route the last 4 years... I could see vince shooting for 50 or jAY z
Guest Boo_Bradley Report post Posted October 14, 2003 New York Celebrities: Regis Philban (That ain't right) Mick Foley Some Yankee Whatever Jet/Giant players Like the WWE Dave Letterman Conan O'Brien Woody Allen...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Strahan is a fan of the WWE...bring him and regis would rule and I'm sure you can get Rudy there too...
razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Why waste money on a celebrity who may or may not draw in some casual fans who won't even care what the next PPV is?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Whoopie, Stern and the King commentating--probably a women's match. Sounds terrific.
BifEverchad 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Regis is a big possibility, considering he has been a great supporter of the WWE in the past. Hell, he was a Wrestlemania 'celeb' before, wasnt he? VII perhaps?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Regis is a fan of the WWE or at least enjoys it on some level so I could see him doing something...
Guest JumpinJackFlash Report post Posted October 14, 2003 I think Howard Stern should do guest commentary on the Women's Title match. That would be hilarious. But it won't be just the usual "PUPPIES!" That has gotten pretty old now.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 New York Celebrities: Regis Philban (That ain't right) Mick Foley Some Yankee Whatever Jet/Giant players Like the WWE Dave Letterman Conan O'Brien Woody Allen... Foley - Yes, please Jeter - don't care but the natives would probably love it Letterman - I'd be interested to see how that would work out ... would they send Lawler on his hands and knees, pleading? "C'mon, you remember me ... I was that guy that smacked Kaufman on your show 20 years ago. PLEASE do it?" Conan - that would rule Woody Allen - WTF? Well ... he and Lawler have similar tastes in women (not the Asian thing, the age thing) Here's on for you. What about Trump? He and Vince are close and he even showed up at the MSG house show the day before the 2000 KOTR.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Trump is still a celeb? Ok. Andy Ricther was at MSG and I could see Conan coming to Mania...
jester 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 If they handle the celebs like they handled the guest appearances at Raw X, they'll start phoning people two days before the event, and not get anybody.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Have you seen the way they treat Mania XX? I'm sure they already phoned and pleaded to everyone "WE PROMISE! WE WILL BE COOL AGAIN COME 2004!"
jester 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Have you seen the way they treat Mania XX? I'm sure they already phoned and pleaded to everyone "WE PROMISE! WE WILL BE COOL AGAIN COME 2004!" They'll phone up Mick Foley and he'll say "I dunno... I've got a load of laundry to do, and Collette's been bugging me to paint the garage door..."
fazzle 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Edit: er...wrong thread So uh...yay celebrities!
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Stern is arguably one of the most watched/listened to celebrities when it comes to viewers/listeners across the country. Both he and his show are still HUGE compared to the competition, so I wouldn't be surprised if he did help to draw a handful of his regular listeners that might have some extra income.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 14, 2003 So will be what 5 people? Stern's Listeners are below the WRESTLING watching community...
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Stern is still around? Talk about a guy who is way past 15 minutes ago.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Stern is still huge and popular with a LARGE national market..
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 Stern makes the most out of how very little he has. I think he's painfully unfunny and shouldn't be at Wrestlemania.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 I still listen to Stern, but anyone who doesn't acknowledge that the guy is YEARS past his prime is deluding themselves. Him as a guest announcer for a woman's match could easily turn into a huge abomination. "Hoo hoo, look at the size of her cans, Robin!" "I'm good ol' JR, Howard." Stern in that spot would be WORSE than Lawler by FAR.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2003 After all the support Stern has given WWE in the past by having their talent as guests on the show, its the least they could do for him. Yeah, most likely escorting the face female RAW wrestler / SD valet down the aisle.
