From the Inside for this week

Recommended Posts

A very well respected writer once wrote that the only thing keeping TNA from being the number one wrestling company in the world is exposure.

This cracks me up. Who was the writer, Bob Ryder? God, if Ring Of Honor had the weekly PPV gig that TNA has, they would be getting way more buys. Same goes for IWA Mid South and other indies that blow TNA out of the water. Borash is on crack.

If they are so much better than TNA, why don't they already have a PPV gig?

Because they don't have well known names to show to a cable company in order to get a spot. They also don't have a parent company willing to take insane losses because they see it as a long-term investment.

I just want to know who the "well-respected" writer is who said that. 20-1 odds it was Ryder.

I hate when people bring up TNA's Pay Per View deal has a reason that they are "not an indy" or "bigger than other indies". Does a Pay Per View deal mean that more people have without a doubt seen TNA over another indy? No. Does a PPV deal mean that TNA will def. make more money? No. Does the PPV deal mean they have better talent/a better promotion? No. All it means is that they made the deal and now they have it. It doesn't guarentee anything.

It all comes down to who is financially successful and successful from a quality product standpoint. ROH IS financially successful (ie. They are making a profit) and becoming more and more successful as time goes on. TNA is not turning a profit. Not even getting into a discussion on storyline and match quality, ROH is making money and TNA is not.

Being on PPV has little to do with being successful. The WWA was on Pay Per View afterall.

RoH would die if it had to live off of 15-20k buys a week. It's easy to make money when your RoH and charge $20+ for tapes and DVDs and rip off your customers half the time by sending the wrong shows or sending the same show twice when they were supposed to send 2 different ones. The tape deal is a bigger draw back than PPV. I know at least 20 people that want to watch RoH but the pricetag on the tapes and the fact that it's RFvideo, who's known for shitty service is the only place to buy means they will never buy it.

Also TNA has it's workers under contract which is something RoH lacks.

Wow, for all of those drawbacks, RoH sure makes a lot more money than TNA! And they also continue to grow, and expand to different areas..amazing! In addition, with the revenue the promotion has brought in, the RoH video quality is way up.

The PPV argument is such a joke. I guess this means that WWE is the best promotion on earth because they have a cable show and TV. Would you accept this argument? "If TNA is better than WWE, how come they don't have a cable deal!?!?" Of course you wouldn't, and you shouldn't, because it's a dumb argument.

Yeah it's a lot easier to make money when you run 1 or 2 shows a month, use smaller name talent and don't have to run a live tv show.

They're also lacking the video game deal TNA has.

Me and my brother had a wrestling match on some beanbags and we charged my mother $5 admission and we gave ourselves $2 each so we made $1 profit

Does that mean we're better than TNA?

The TNA contracts are basically contracts for the whole indy scene. The only thing that the TNA contracts keep other indys from doing is, for instance, putting Michael Shane and Chris Sabin in a tag team or fueding CM Punk and Julio Dinero. But other than that, indys are guaranteed to have MOST of their top guys locked up for a year. Styles, Daniels, Lynn, Punk, Raven and some other guys.

Ummm, dude, 20-1 are pretty long odds. I think prehaps you meant 'odds on.'

And TNA is the best promotion I've ever seen, purely because I don't see those other ones.

*SHILL ALERT*

Wrestlingsuperstore.com -officially licensed distributor for ROH DVD.

They only have the early shows, but it's a start.

I would like TNA dvds in the store. I still don't know why TNA's merchandise is so shitty. You would think Borash makes everything in his basement or something and sends it to the customers...

TNA treats Borash like a slave. They make him do everything. He has to ring announce, host those ppv hype deals that air all day of the ppv, host the preshow, host xplosion, put all the videos together and create the video packages, create the graphics for the video packages, and no telling what else. I bet he is burning dvds to send out right now and they can't be delivered until mid November, because he is doing it all by himself :D

I think Rob is making a lot of money selling the videos himself, I wonder if he'd rather keep it that way than release them commercially, especially while the promotion's main source of revenue is through videos.

I'm sure it's coming any day now, but NWATNA don't actually have a video game deal at the moment.

Uh, yes they do.

EA Sports is supposed to be doing the game. Or last I heard it was. Might be wrong on that.

You are, at least for the time being :D

There's been no official announcement of an NWATNA game beyond the fact that they're wooing a number of companies.

Plain and simple, it's not what they are going for. The main reason why ECW isn't here today is that they lost big time on PPV's and of course also TNN. So there you have it.
