Las Vegas had a very rough June, otherwise they've been doing fine this year.

 

Also, I'll just go ahead and start this now: To keep this from becoming a big fad and everyone going to a different team, I'm limiting every season to three trades only. We've already used up one this year. And as you can see, it's a very risky venture to partake in.

Given your personality (minimal desire to play for a winner, but minimal loyalty to any team), it's hard to say. On one hand, the "I'm in my prime" defense might get you on the FA market, but you also might want to stick around since you have great leadership qualities and there's no one on the hitting side of things that leads like Edward.

Those 3 trades per season run out on July 31st, which is the trading deadline and also the unofficial deadline for signing players to contract extensions (the former is ironclad, the latter not so much)

 

Right now, Las Vegas has $69,013,582 in available funds, so there's no real reason why they couldn't pick up James for another few years.

 

Of course, when I clicked to offer him an extension, he said those fateful words:

 

"I am in my prime and would like to test the market."

 

That doesn't keep me from making an offer, though. So if there are no requests at the trading deadline to move people, then I will take any offer you want to make to Edward James to see if you can sign him to an extension or if he'll be stubborn.

2015 ALL-STAR GAME REPORT

 

The East-West All-Stars were in the Bourbon Center, but earned home field advantage in a home run derby toss-up between Arne Snider and Neall Isaacson and took the field first.

 

When they came to the plate, they quickly scored a run and didn't look back.

 

East-West cruised to victory 4-1 over the North-South, winning the 2015 All-Star Game without every giving up the lead to their conference rivals.

 

Jm Macias hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the 1st, leading off the inning against Claudio Galaviz in a big way.

 

Oscar Ortiz added a run to the lead with a solo homerun of his own, this one off Lorenzo Laureano, landing 444 feet for the second homerun of the game for the East-West.

 

The North-South finally responded in the top of the 5th with a solo homerun down the right field line from Dale Fear, cutting the lead in half.

 

In the bottom of the seventh, the East-West decided to stop being fancy with the bat and simply played small ball, and it worked in their favor.

 

Manny Donato singled home Arne Snider to make the score 3-1, and Bill Volker followed that up with a single of his own, scoring Zoilo Castillo to make the score 4-1.

 

Oscar Ortiz' 3-for-4 performance with the solo homerun in the 4th inning earned him All-Star Game MVP, despite the fact that he was ejected in the 7th inning arguing a strike three call. Ortiz apologized for his rash behavior, saying that there was something wrong with that at-bat in general, but that he completely overreacted.

 

Logan Caldwell and Winston Ghandi went 0-for-4 and 0-for-3, respectively, Robert Henderson went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base, R.J. Frost went 1-for-4, as Edward James and Charlie Matthews both did not play.

Edward James really can't do much of anything, because once I simulate July 31st, he'll either be traded and resigned to a new contract with his new team, traded to a contender for a one-shot deal (remember Randy Johnson with the Astros?), or the Jokers will be forced to keep him, and James will likely enter the FA pool outright unless the Jokers pony up the dough.

 

And as always, LeBeau, if you want to be traded somewhere, let me know as well.

I've been considering going back to my old roots in Seattle, just to see if the hot Atlanta weather has affected my performance, but if someone takes it, que sera, sera, as those crazy Italians say.

 

Plus, since that "powerhouse" trio of LeBeau, DeSantis, and Gonzales has been broken up, that might mean nothing for Atlanta, really. Or, it might get us a late season surge, and Atlanta's first title, with only Carlos to claim it, because the rest of us are idiots.

 

So, in short, I suppose I'll stay out the year in Atlanta so I can at least try to find Lil' Jon and give him to Carlos as a bat, then maybe off to the glitz and glamor of Seattle, where the winners be.

Things are looking up for your chances in the Hall of Fame, certainly. You haven't been putting up the same numbers Carlos DeSantis has, but you have been more consistent than him since he has had a few key injuries that have put him out of commission several times, including this season.

Atlanta's Gonzales out for 6 weeks

 

ATLANTA - When it rains, it pours. Atlanta's southpaw Giant Gonzales will not pitch for at least 6 weeks, handing the team a huge setback. He suffered a serious injury in a game against Houston where he left the field in the 8th inning. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis of a ruptured elbow ligament did not surprise many. Surgery will be performed next week. This season Gonzales compiled an ERA of 4.25, going 8-7 in 21 starts. He fanned 97 while giving up 127 hits in 139.2 innings.

 

RJ Frost hits 2000th career hit

 

MONTREAL - Seattle's first baseman RJ Frost already had some highlights in his career, and today he added another one, getting his 2000th career hit. His hit in the 6th inning was a single off Fritures de Liberte's Johnny Bagues. Along with his 2000 hits, RJ has collected 370 homeruns and 1324 RBI in eleven seasons. "I'm out of words," Frost said in the visitor's clubhouse following Seattle's 4-0 win over Montreal, "I'll probably realize it tomorrow, but for now, I'm done."

 

Red hot Frost and DeSantis win Batter of the Month Award

 

It's the 6th time that the East-West Batter of the Month award goes to Seattle's first baseman RJ Frost. RJ was on fire, hitting .375 with 9 homeruns and 29 RBI. He has hit 35 homeruns while batting .320 this season. His 125 hits and 49 walks add up to a .396 on-base percentage. He's 10th in the East-West in batting, 2nd in homeruns and 2nd in RBI! Carlos DeSantis of the Atlanta Hanoi Janes wins his 9th Batter of the Month award for putting up the best numbers in the North-South. He had an on base percentage of .408 and hit .362, while driving in 17 runs. While compiling an on base percentage of .395, Carlos hit .312 and slugged .532. He has collected 38 runs batted in this year.

As for the batters, Henderson has FINALLY dipped below .400, and he'll have to work hard to bring it back over .400 and keep it that way for a second consecutive season. RJ Frost is having a magnificent season and might be able to hit 50 homeruns in a season once again, while Carlos DeSantis is putting up the numbers that he's supposed to put up without the injuries.
