Guest Evolution Report post Posted January 18, 2005 I am accepting players for the 2022 season, but the rule is that pitchers get 11 points, and I'm counting 12 points that you allocated for Chris Stanton. A simple edit will do, I'm not going to get bent out of shape about it unless you're still using 12 points by the time the ammy draft runs around (and that won't be for awhile, knowing my pace). SFBL June 2021 Best Team in June: The Philadelphia Freedom. From the worst team in the SFBL in May to the best team in June, the Freedom certainly didn't allow June to be a "swoon" month for their team, lighting up with a 20-7 month and rocketing to the front of the weak East division, building a five-game lead over the second place New York Bums. There were plenty of highlights for the Freedom to enjoy this month, including taking three out of four from the Oklahoma Freedom and two out of three from the Seattle Frasiers. The glory might not last long, but at least for one month, the Freedom can feel safe in knowing that they did exceptionally well. Worst Team in June: The Houston Horny Toads. Houston is beginning to fall in a rut and may find themselves in big trouble if they can't turn their misfortunes around in the second half of the season. With a 9-18 month, Houston fell to dead last in the North-South Central, seven games behind division leading Memphis. Although Houston has been known for the past several years to be largely mediocre, fans are beginning to get upset at the amount of talent that is passing through Houston without a second glance and just being wasted on a team that, on a whole, cannot be saved by those one or two talented men. It's a frustrating time in Texas, and it'll only get worse if the second half is more of the same for Houston. Transactions: NONE SFBL PLAYERS IN THE NEWS: Sunday, June 3rd, 2021: Las Vegas' Hannon out for five weeks LAS VEGAS - Las Vegas' third baseman Patrick Hannon will miss about five weeks after he hurt himself badly in the seventh inning of the game between the Las Vegas Jokers and the New York Bums. He fielded a ball off the bat of Brent Wassenberg, threw a bullet to first and immediately signaled that he wasn't OK. Las Vegas wasted no time and rushed him to an hospital. Team officials were informed later that Hannon had suffered a strained tricep muscle. Patrick has gone 53 for 217 (.244) this season, hitting nine homeruns and driving in 26 runs. He has scored 36 runs on his own. Monday, June 4th, 2021: Henderson wins Player of the Week award The North-South's best player of the week was Memphis' Robert Henderson, who wins the award for the 33rd time in his career. Henderson hepled his team with an average of .357 and 7 RBI in 28 at bats. Monday, June 18th, 2021: Quahog's Dehn wins Player of the Week award Jonathan Dehn wins his 5th Player of the Week award. North-South pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Dehn helped his team with an average of .464 and 9 RBI in 28 at bats. Dehn has walked 38 times this year and posts a .390 OBP. While batting .300, 81 for 270, he has driven in 40 runs. Monday, June 25th, 2021: Memphis' Henderson wins Player of the Week award Robert Henderson wins his 34th Player of the Week award. North-South pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. Robert went 16 for 31 (.516), while hitting 5 HR and collecting 11 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a seven game hitting streask right now. Robert has gone 107 for 272 (.393) this season, hitting 24 homeruns and driving in 68 runs. He has scored 80 runs on his own. He's 1st in the North-South in batting, 1st in homeruns and 5th in RBI! Guest Evolution Report post Posted January 26, 2005 2021 SFBL ALL-STAR GAME A bases-loaded single from Winston Ghandi and two homeruns from Fernando Ornelas made up the entire offense for the North-South All-Stars, but it was more than enough to dispatch of the East-West All-Stars, defeating them 5-2 in this year's All-Star Game from The Brothel in Charlotte. Winston Ghandi was 1-for-4 on the day, but that one hit was huge in the top of the second, driving in Harry Bleise and John Scherfenberg for the first runs of the game. Fernando Ornelas drilled his first of two homeruns in the very next inning, a two-run bomb off Timothy Foster that gave the North-South a 4-0 lead. The East-West would finally respond in the bottom half of the third on a Rich Wilson sacrifice fly, but the damage had already been done and three runs was as close as the East-West would get. Other North-South All-Stars: Timothy Marsch was hitless in three at-bats with two strikeouts. Robert Henderson was hitless in one at-bat after substituing in for John Scherfenberg. Jesse Ewiak was 1-for-4, committing an error at first base. Jonathan Dehn was 0-for-2 with two strikeouts and a walk, but stole a base on his one and only time on base. East-West All-Stars: Joey Zurn was a defensive replacement for Dave Sospiri and did not get an at-bat. Marvin Jenkins played in an All-Star Game for the first time in seven opportunities, pitching two innings, striking out two, walking none but allowing a solo homerun to Fernando Ornelas in the fifth inning. The remainder of July will be played up leading up to the trading deadline, at which point we will see if anyone has been traded or wants to be traded, and the July recap will be up soon after. Guest Evolution Report post Posted February 13, 2005 SFBL July 2021 Best Team in July: The Columbus Pride. For a while, Columbus fans were beginning to worry that their team had fallen into the woes that they had when they were a young franchise. But the Pride seem to be working hard to turn things around. Although catching Quahog in first place seems like a longshot, they managed to climb above .500 and out of the cellar with an 18-8 July. Sixteen games behind the division-leading Quagmires, their next target is Vancouver, who is only four games away in second place. Worst Team in July: The Chicago Transit Authority. Before the All-Star Break, it seemed that the Transit Authority was the only team capable of keeping the Oklahoma Twisters from earning their second straight postseason birth. After the Break, however, an 8-18 July turned things around for the worst in the Transit Authority. They now find themselves tied for second place in the division, but more importantly, they are 13 games behind the Twisters, who seem to be cruising towards another Central Division championship, despite Baltimore's best efforts to climb back into competition. Transactions: Trade between Columbus and Atlanta : Atlanta gets : P Ann Onita Columbus gets : CF George Mumy Trade between Baltimore and New York : New York gets : C Charlie Matthews Baltimore gets : P Habel Cardenas Atlanta: Put P Ann Onita on the trading block. Atlanta: Released 1B Carlos Desantis, he refused assignment to minors. Trade between New York and Quahog : Quahog gets : P Frigid Soul LF Emilio Sanabria New York gets : 2B Joe Colopy RF Jason Atlee Las Vegas : Patrick Hannon has been signed to a contract extension, $7,170,600 per year, for 6 years. Columbus : Nigel McClain has been signed to a contract extension, $5,899,500 per year, for 4 years. Memphis : Robert Henderson has been signed to a contract extension, $16,245,000 per year, for 6 years. SFBL PLAYERS IN THE NEWS: Thursday, July 12th, 2021: Charlie Simmons dominates Denver, gives up just 2 hits OKLAHOMA - Oklahoma's right-hander Charlie Simmons didn't look unexperienced at all. The 20 year old pitched a 2-hit shutout against Denver, recording his 1st shutout of the season. Simmons (8-6) struck out no one and issued two walks, but threw 64 of 114 pitches for strikes. 'Winning is the most important thing. And I gave my team all the support it needed!' Oklahoma's designated hitter Brandon Mariano got two hits in three at-bats, hitting a homerun, stroking a double, scoring two runs and collecting four RBI. That was enough to support the brilliant performance of Simmons. Oklahoma scored nine runs on eight hits. Thursday, July 26th, 2021: Robert Henderson hits 3000 KANSAS CITY - Memphis' players had every reason to pat Robert Henderson on the back, who reached a milestone today, collecting his 3000th career hit! He hit a single in the sixth inning off Keith Douglas for number 3,000. His best year so far was 2015 where he hit .400 with 48 homeruns and 143 RBI. 'I'm thrilled beyond belief. Thanks for all my teammates who were there with me on this day.' The Hall of Fame already has reserved a place for this great 31-year-old. Tuesday, July 31st, 2021: Rich Wilson laces 2000th career hit off Kostka MONTREAL - Rich Wilson got a standing ovation from 19,814 fans in Montreal, who witnessed his 2000th career hit. His hit in the second inning was a single off Peter Kostka. His best year so far was 2013 where he hit .319 with 32 homeruns and 97 RBI. 'My friends always told me that I will do it one day. I never believed it. Good thing I was wrong!' SFBL Standings Injuries: Wednesday 7/11/2021 : MEM: Robert Henderson was injured while running the bases. Diagnosis: Strained Thigh Muscle.
