My player is the ultimate hoss!

I did some projections in a Brock5 spreadsheet ( http://baseball1.com/c-sabr.html ) and here are the projected career stats for Big Red after his age 44 season (2034)

(I used projected stats for 2021, and I just extended the spreadsheet to include his age 42, 43 and 44 seasons)

the totals:

5228 hits

3046 runs

854 doubles

84 triples

903 home runs

3014 RBI

1560 walks

.341 career BA

8960 total bases

3587 runs created

8.66 runs created per 9 innings

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to hit 1000 home runs, but I have a shot at 5000 hits.

The spreadsheet puts me at 4846 hits after 2031.

My projected stats at age 41

158 for 556 (.283), 29 doubles, 19 home runs, 78 runs, 81 RBI, 58 walks

And it projects me getting 4000 hits by age 36 and 4257 by age 38.

Killing three birds with one big ol' stone:

FS, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Holy crap @ Big Red's projected numbers. I think the game will explode with those kind of numbers.

And welcome to yet another entrant in the SFBL. Stick around, it might be a little while for you to get on the field.

Thanks for the welcome. It's okay if it takes a while for my guy to play since I still have hundreds of posts to read through in this topic as it is. I plan to catch up on everything, as insane as that may be.

Evo, have you noticed the home/road splits for Big Red too?

On the road, I have:

38 more AB

35 more hits

7 more doubles

10 more home runs

34 more RBI

36 more runs

Can you give out the park dimensions for my home park?

Grand Ole Park is an expansive park that truly lives up to its name.

Leftfield line - 362 feet

Leftfield - 381

Left-Center - 399

Centerfield - 406

Right-Center - 384

Right - 358

Rightfield line - 228

The short rightfield line makes it a haven for left-handed hitters to hit homeruns and drop in various hits that may not be as possible for right-handed hitters. While not a pitchers' park, Grand Ole Park does have the tendency to play more towards left-handed hitters when it comes to homeruns. Combined with a wind that usually comes in from the left that pushes balls towards that short rightfield line, the tide is right for left-handers. The only thing stopping them is a ten foot wall that expands along right.

Hmm.. yeah, that explains a few of the problems.

I don't think hitting 400 twice will enable me to make personnel decisions for Memphis.

Which means I will unable to make a team sign any of the following

RJ Frost (for September pinch hitting duty)

Richie Aveline (for finding a new position)

Big Louie Laricks (for walks)

or more pitching or something

Free agency update:

Charlie Matthews has decided to test the market and get off the terrible New York Bums team.

Ann Onita will be leaving the Hanoi Janes as well, just to see what happens.

After doing some thinking, I remembered that Mike Van Siclen would like to play for the Crunk Machine as long as possible, so I re-signed him to New Orleans for three more years.

I don't expect any sort of response from Gabriel Cirillo, but Paco Fernandez has received word of his potential free agent status and once I get an answer from him, I will post the August recap.

Oh, and a look at upcoming rookies and when they will be entering:

2022:

"Muffinman" Andrew Blackwell

"Slasher" Chris Stanton

"El Duche" Constantine Mussolini

2023:

Matt "Bud" Young"

Yes, to those of you thinking of exercising the Euthanasia Rule in the off-season, this means that most of you will be entering in 2023 or later.

Evo,

Fury's signed through the season, but is up for arbitration... Anything I need to know about that or keep in mind?

And glad to see you're still around running this thing... Hate to think I eyeballed the thread on occasion for nothing. ;)

Henderson record watch:

I've scored 100 runs in all 14 of my seasons. 14 seasons in a row of 100 runs is also a record. Lou Gehrig and Hank Aaron had 13 consecutive years of 100 runs.

Once I knock in 100 RBI, i'll have 13 consecutive years of 100 RBIs, tying the MLB record

My eleven 200 hit seasons are also a record.

w00t!

Not that I want to move from Boston just yet... I'd like to get a full (as in preferrably injury-free) season there, see how I and the team are doing.

I guess as long as Boston's getting what they want out of me, I'm safe.

SFBL

August 2021

Best Team in August: The Atlanta Hanoi Janes. Although their playoff hopes are out of reach, Atlanta are actively trying to keep from embarrassing themselves this season with a 19-8 August in which they switched places with Jacksonville, once trailing them by nine games and now leading them by two games in the battle for third place. The North-South Wildcard isn't out of reach just yet, but Atlanta will need a similar amazing September to take it to the top of those standings.

Worst Team in August: The Jacksonville Jackoffs. With an 8-19 August, Jacksonville has fallen into the cellar and is officially eliminated from competition for the South. Two losing streaks of seven and six games in the start and middle of the month ruined morale for the Jackoffs, who find themselves with their heads hung down marching into the long haul of September where they'll need nothing short of a miracle to nab a Wildcard berth.

SFBL PLAYERS IN THE NEWS:

Thursday, August 2nd, 2021:

Jesse Ewiak out for 4-5 weeks

COLUMBUS - Columbus' Jesse Ewiak suffered a serious injury Thursday in a game against Jacksonville. Ewiak fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help from Pride trainers. He will probably miss 4-5 weeks of action. After being examined by several specialists in the locker room, it was declared that Ewiak had fractured his knee. Ewiak has hit 15 taters this year while batting .383. He adds 36 doubles, along with 86 runs scored. He's 1st in the North-South in batting!

Monday, August 6th, 2021:

Las Vegas' Hannon wins Player of the Week award

Patrick Hannon wins his 3rd Player of the Week award this week. East-West pitchers had trouble figuring out this guy all week long. In 24 at bats he hit .500 with 2 homeruns and 8 runs batted in.

Friday, August 17th, 2021:

Los Angeles' Joey Zurn hits for the cycle

BOSTON - Los Angeles' leftfielder Joey Zurn accomplished a difficult feat in a game against the Boston Tea Baggers, hitting for the cycle to improve his career batting average to .254! A single in the third inning off John Collins Jr. accounted for his first hit. A pitch from Kevin Casbarr in the seventh inning left his bat for a three-run homerun, landing 445 feet from home plate in center field. A two-run double off Shane Keller in the 7th inning accounted for his third hit. In the ninth inning he unloaded a two-run triple off Shane Keller. That drive completed the cycle and silenced the Boston fans in attendance. The Rocketbuster scored 3 runs, and collected 7 RBI as well! He now has a total of 137 hits this season, accounting for a .298 batting average. On 7/11/2021, Hadley Reabold was the last player to hit for the cycle.

Monday, August 20th, 2021:

Fury wins Player of the Week award

Boston's first baseman Christian Fury was named the East-West Player of the Week this week. He had an on-base percentage of .385 and hit .385, while driving in eight runs. He hit in every game this week and has extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Fury has hit 17 bombs this year while batting .277. He adds 37 doubles, along with 69 runs scored.

Tuesday, August 21st, 2021:

Steve Hatfield (non-TSM) ropes 500th career homerun

ATLANTA - Atlanta's Steve Hatfield flashed a smile after he belted his 500th career homerun against Quahog on Tuesday. A pitch from Billie Xiques in the sixth inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 397 feet frmo home plate in left-center. Perhaps his best year so far was 2017 where he hit .315 with 43 homeruns and 137 RBI. Steve has managed to hit 30+ homeruns in a season 10 times, and he topped 40 homeruns 8 times. 'I still remember my first hit. But the one today is something special!' The Hall of Fame already has reserved a place for this great player.

I've always wondered. When someone's role changes, does that mean the player, say, changed batting order just in that month?

If so, I blame the Crunk Machine moving Tiny to middle reliever for that second loss of his.
