BoboBrazil Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Dave Meltzer said on the Law that one of the things being talked about is Undertaker going back to the deadman gimmick after the buried alive match. Sounds good. We need more gimmicks in wrestling today in my opinion.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I've been hearing that for 2 years now- I'll believe it when I hear a *BONG* and funeral dirge music.
Lil' Bitch Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I never liked The Underbiker much anyway.
Slayer Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Good, I'm tired of him biking to the ring and talking about people invading his yard, like some crotchety old man on his porch Somehow though I don't think the deadman gimmick would be quite the same without the long hair. That's just my opinion
ChrisMWaters Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Question is...can Taker grow out his hair long enough by Survivor Series?
Lil' Bitch Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 ^ Yeah, the Phenom would look fucking weird with a buzz cut.
Art Sandusky Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 The funny thing is that one of the things I said tonight during the main event to someone was "You know, I just realized that there are absolutely no reasons to cheer for the Undertaker. The act is old, he never does anything particularly virtuous, isn't super strong or anything... damn. I miss the dead Undertaker."
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 If he's turning back after the ppv, then I guess that means Vince has to win the burried alive match at Survivor Series. Yay for Vince winning another match on PPV.
BoboBrazil Posted October 20, 2003 Author Report Posted October 20, 2003 Maybe Vince would win with the help of Kane. Vince is still affiliated with Kane and it would help get Kane over as a monster more. You could have Undertaker run into Kane backstage earlier in the night and Undertaker would be questioning him why he has turned so evil or whatever. It is a combined ppv so it could happen.
JHawk Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I did notice tonight that he's letting his hair grow just a little bit... Of course, maybe he's just waiting for a chance to go to his normal barber.
Cuban Linx Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Every few months since he became the BikerTaker he's supposedly been going back to the Deadman gimmick, so i'll believe it when it actually happens.
RavishingRickRudo Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 *wipes tear from eye* Goodbye Underfedor.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 *wipes tear from eye* Goodbye Underfedor. Hey, you never know... Maybe this new incarnation of "classic" Taker will combine some of the moves he's been using recently, as he's now a more dangerous Undertaker. Think Classic Taker mixed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer mixed with MMA mixed with Matrix. GOLD!
AndrewTS Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 How is this any more credible of an instance now than any other time this same rumor came up? Because it's Meltz?
RavishingRickRudo Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 No more soupbones. No. More. Soupbones. *runs to corner and cries*
the pinjockey Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Fedor = pound and ground Cena. Not Taker Assuming this is true (big leap of faith there), this makes no sense. The dead man gimmick has never really been a draw, and now he is finally getting praised for his in ring work. Seems strange that it would be decided, now, to change the gimmick. The only possible reason is he is going for one "last run", which I sincerely doubt is the case.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Hey..no more Badasses always kicking assh*le's ass either... Or him riding to the ring on a motorcycle..
Guest BDC Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I've never liked the Underbiker gimmick simply because theres just nothing ot it. He's big. He rides a bike. He punches a lot. And they still called him the UNDERTAKER. That last one just seemed kinda dumb. Oh, as for the hair, I got one word: WEAVE!

Yeah, plus I heard he doesn't want to return to the old gimmick and I think he's probably a lot happier working his current style anyway--we sure as hell are. Off topic, I hear reports of how good hte match with Brock was (or for some, at least not bad), and I laugh that HHH is injured again while guys around a lot longer than him, including Flair (in his late 50's), are showing him up health and workrate-wise.
RavishingRickRudo Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Taker during the Brock/Cena tag match had Cena (IIRC) up against the ropes ala Fedor/Big Daddy PrideGP03 and started throwin soupbones like mad. Cena is more of a Vitor Belfort -back when he was the Phenom- PnG.
the pinjockey Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Well, neither Flair or Taker have about 40 extra pounds of water weight. Plus, at least in UT's case, he is much smarter about time off. Remember a few years ago he had the groin trouble. Instead of rushing back to protect a spot, he took a few months off to rest it and I don't recall hearing problems about it since.
the pinjockey Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I just like any chance to throw in the term Pound and Ground.
RavishingRickRudo Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 *raises fist* I'll pound and ground you!!!
Guest Ray Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 What's all this love for the "deadman" character? Realistic wrestling > cartoonish gimmicks
Guest Choken One Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Besides Taker had what ONE good match as the dead Man? (I count 90-96 as the real DEADMAN) the 97-99 stuff he was just a demonic soap opera character... I'll take the MMA Influenced American Badass over that. Just as long as he keeps eating cruiserweights for lunch.
RavishingRickRudo Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 Because some people here want to see Taker flying and Taker shooting lightning.
Guest Coffey Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 GOODBYE WORKRATE! Quoted for truth.
the pinjockey Posted October 20, 2003 Report Posted October 20, 2003 I am thinking this has to be Vince's idea to sell some more merch and see one of his gimmick ideas be around again. If UT is going to keep eating cruisers, though, they need to sign Low-Ki so he gets some american strong style thrown in there. *runs away*
