RVD's badly botched spot

Recommended Posts

Guest rawmvp

During the RVD/Storm vs. Jericho/Steiner match, RVD and Jericho blew a spot involving RVD's "miss kick, spin kick" move. Now, was this RVD's fault or was it Jericho's mishap? The usually laid back RVD seemed really embarrassed/pissed at himself; for instance, he shouted, "SHIT!"

Is RVD's slopiness, and in particular blown spots like these, the reason why WWE has no faith in pushing RVD into the upper echelon ?

I noticed it, but that's because I look for these things. Casual viewers don't really give a shit (and they shouldn't). It wasn't a badly blown spot, it was just a blown spot. Big deal. It happens to even the best wrestlers.

the fans didn't seem to mind for the most part. A missed spot my slightly taint a match, but it doesn' take the match from being a good match to a stinker. Blown spots on Raw are usually more screamed about since the matches themselves are usually only 5mins. I mean a 15min match with a blown spot is hardly noticeable or worth bringing up.

It honestly looked more like trying to kick Jericho away and failing. Since Jericho just proceeded unscathed it looked like nothing.

Of course...it's RVD...so here's the thread.

My thoughts exactly.

I didn't think it was a botched spot until I read it here. Something like that is definitely not the reason RVD isn't pushed. People have done worse.

This is just utterly dumb right here...he misses a spot, which wasn't like it disrupted the flow or anything...

A badly botch spot would be brock landing on his head at Mania.

Or most Jeff Hardy matches.

I didn't even notice it so it couldn't have been a badly botched spot. If any spots were nearly blown it was that Trish/Victoria/Steven shoulder bomb that nearly caused Trish's head to fly off. I would say that was a botched spot.

besides, more realistic if he misses a kick anyways...not all kicks in a fight hit anyways

Eh. It wasn't as bad as Batista fucking up one of the two moves he knows. It really depends in the WWF. Some people like Mark Henry can continually fuck up every move in the book and not have to worry. I mean Rodney Mack never got depushed for almost killing Al Snow with a tiger bomb.

I've barely watched wrestling since last February, but for whatever reason, I actually saw ^that match. Sick as hell.

A badly blown spot is something that either kills someone or exposes the business.

A flailing leg that Jericho never even sells as coming close is not.

I'm glad someone here knew that difference.

Miscommunication.

RVD was going for the "missed enzugiri/connected reverse thrust kick", but Jericho sold the enzugiri and RVD was unprepared for it, so the rest of the spot ended up botched.

They covered up as best as they could, but it still came off as a little awkward. No big loss.

I remember one time in WCW, I think Benoit and Malenko were wrestling, and Benoit missed some punches by a mile. Immediately, they pretended they had camera problems or something...

I can't remember much. Anyone know?

Probably not. This is Benoit screwing up, so people wouldn't remember such a thing. You must have dreamed it. ;)

I remember I dreamed that time that he forgot to roll out of the way of a frog splash from RVD.

I was like. "How, Beniots lucky. That could have hurt him and RVD"

Everyone else: "Why isn't RVD still selling the shoulder. He sucks so bad...blahblahblahblahblahblah."

Weird dream. Must've been that Chinese food.

Yep.

IMO they should include more "fake" blown spots, so it might not look as obviously when they really botch one.

And a botched spot on a minor move where there's no connection and the wrestler doesn't react, and the match flow isn't broken is ok.

When the wrestler doesn't sell on a major move, then realizes she should have and falls in the wrong direction...like Jackie Gayda did in the legendary match from hell, that's another story all together.
