Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...

Recommended Posts

My best friend played Ghouls & Ghosts (the predecessor to Ghosts & Goblins) and it is indeed the hardest game EVER.

He made it all the way to Satan, but needed some magic power BULLSHIT, so he had to start the game all over again without losing it....

He beat it after 4 hours. Impressive.

I beat Ghosts & Goblins actually.

I just used a Game Genie for that one, heh. I could never do THAT game on my own. Once I got to Satan though, I had no problem at all. I just "warped" straight to him, and beat him.

I really need to go all the way through the game, and damnit, I WILL do it one day.

The original Turtles game for NES is a bitch but I finally beat it sometime last year. What is AMAZINGLY hard though is Battletoads. I got up to level 10 I think (of 12 levels) and you had to race some mouse or something, it was impossible. It always confused me how everyone though the hovering motorbike level was so hard though, I can beat that stage every single time I try it.

As for the new Turtles game, my hopes were getting down after reading some reviews, but now that I bought it... My god it's AWESOME. Probably my favourite game this gen. Even the 1 on 1 vs Mode is pretty damn fun. I'd give it 10/10 as well. My highest combo is 55 so far, by the way. When you get them in a certain position you can just keep hitting them and go for as high as you want anyways.

On the new game, there is no reason why you can't have 4 player mode on the gamecube. 4 controller ports..4 turtles..only supports a 2 player mode...

BOO! It would lose a point for me just for that if I had it. Of course, DH might have been reviewing the PS2 version..

I can't figure out why all of you had trouble with the underwater stage on TMNT. I took one turtle to beat that when I was between seven and nine. My problem was that damn van staage. It pissed me off to no end that I couldn't find out where to go. I could beat everything I faced, go into evry building and clear it out, and get rid of all the other vehicles and roadblocks. But I couldn't beat that level. Finally I just stopped playing it and said fuck it. The only games I had on the original NES that I couldn't beat were TMNT and Gauntlet (which I think has no end), and my collection included Mario 1, Mario 2, Mike Tyson Punchout, Megaman 2, Double Dragon 2, and TMNT 2: The Arcade Game. If anyone can tell me how to get past the van stage I would greatly appreciate it. Also does Gauntlet have an ending.

P. S. TMNT 2 kicks a whole lot of ass.

Yes, I had trouble finding out what to do here as well. From memory:

All I remember is there's a TOUGH jump down in the sewers that looks like you can't make it. However, you CAN make it. That's what got me.

Go to www.gamefaqs.com Odds are there will be a faq of this game.

Indeed.

I don't give a piss about the 4-player exclusion however, as I'd never be around with three other people at the same time to take advantage of it.

By george, when I was a youngin' a 2-player console version was fine, and by george a 2-player version is still fine.

The farthest I got on the original TMNT was the Technodrome. Hard as Hell.

The Dam was SO FUCKING EASY! I knew the level like the back of my hand when I was 10. It took me like 10 years to beat Level 3 though. LOL

If you liked the old games, and STILL like playing the old games, then you will LOVE this new one.

Ehh, no. First of all, I've been playing "old school" games since Atari and Commedore, and S/NES ain't quite "old school." =b

Regardless, this game blows compared to the old Turtles games. Even TMNT II (The Arcade Game for NES) was pushing jump then kick over and over. This is just pushing B... Over and over.

Heck, I'd dare say TMNT III (Manhattan Project) was a better game than this. It had special moves that were unique for each turtle.

The original game for NES was one of the hardest games I've ever played. I don't know anyone who made it past the bomb stage underwater.

I did, but I'm still not convinced there's anything past the van.

I agree. I had driven all over that city and went everywhere I could, I just think they fucked up and let some copies get out without the completed stage.

Jobber of the Week, the new Turtles game isn't any more repetitive than Turtles 2 or 3... In the new game, you have the standing weak attack, standing strong attack, running strong attack, combo's of weak, weak, strong etc., uppercuts, jumping attacks, the throwing stars (3 different kinds), and a double team move when you're playing 2 player. Compare that to the what, ONE regular attack, one/two jumping attacks, and a special move in the old games?

And why does everyone have so much trouble in the third (van) level from Turtles 1 from NES? If I remember correctly, the only tricky thing is making this one jump that looks impossible at first and finding an alley-way on the right side of the map.

We didn't have internet then to ask for help.

All we had was our brains, hands, and maybe the Nintendo Guide strategy guide if one was made for this game.

That got everyone! The jump was pretty greasy. We should start a thread on what was the most stuck you ever got in a video game in just not knowing what to do. Obvious and not obvious.

That all do the same amount of damage as far as I could tell (and I played long enough to beat the game)

the throwing stars (3 different kinds)

None of which do enough damage to be useful.

and a double team move when you're playing 2 player.

Ok, I'll give em that.

All TMNT games ruled!!!

In Order of Favorite to Least:

TMNT IV: Turtles in Time (SNES)

TMNT II: The Arcade Game (NES/Arcade)

Hyperstone Heist (Genesis)

Tournament Fighters (SNES)

TMNT III: Manhatten Project ( I think thats the right name)

TMNT I

All Gameboy Games come last because they are too cheesy.

The fuckin' magic power always got to me too. I would always have my code book with me, so I could skip around until I get to Lucifer.
