The inevitable "Queer Eye..." Thread

Recommended Posts

I've noticed there's never been a thread on this show (as far as I can find), so I'm making one

Thoughts? Fans? Haters?

I haven't even been able to see it really (no Bravo on my regular cable), but I've read over their website. Good general living tips, IMO, although converting to the "queer eye" apparently requires a lot of money, it seems. Also, I have to wonder how well the made-over guys can maintain their new look after the gay guys have left...

For example, my older brother (not gay) was a big influence on my good fashion sense when I was a teenager, but after he left on his own, I eventually stopped caring (albeit other factors related here too) and became a plain jeans/blah-tshirt guy

I wouldn't let those fucks cut my hair and change my style just so I could fit into "pop culture."

I like my jeans and t-shirts, damnit!

Haha, I suppose I shouldn't have expected a serious discussion of the show, ah well

The SP episode was funny though, yes

I have notice that there are alot of shows of this kind on tv. There is the Extreme Makeover show on ABC and one on TLC that has a "fashion expert" give hints as to what works and gives the person a budget to buy new clothes.

How about "Queer Eye for Plus-sized Cheerleaders"?

Wait, that's just "Camp Jim"

You must do the backflip or else and eat more veggies Ms Piggy.

The one on TLC would be "What Not to Wear," which sadly I'm almost addicted to. I keep thinking I should nominate my mom for that show, because she really doesn't dress very well at all (she thinks she's fat and old, and she isn't at all *rolls eyes* thus she dresses like she thinks she should for her age and body...it's just horrible). Besides, some people on that show really dress horribly. It's also cool to watch and get pretty good fashion tips for dressing for your body type and stuff. Then again, I'm a girl, I work retail, so there ya go.

As for Queer Eye...I'm addicted. I've been disappointed that the past few weeks they've been showing reruns. I think that some of the guys could maintain the hair and the clothes after the show's done and over with, but some of them, I'm not so sure. There was this one guy--a gym owner, I think--who seemed to really, really appreciate all of the Fab 5's effort. I think he probably managed to maintain the style and everything. The cop, however...eh, I'm not so sure about him, as he was kinda reluctant throughout the entire thing. I'm not sure how many of those guys would be wiling to go get their back hair waxed at any point beyond that one day, or how many would continue to clip their nose hairs.

I've watched a little bit of Queer Eye, and it's not too bad. There are some funny, interesting little bits in there. Of course, there's one thing in the way for these guys.

These guys are pretty being told to be neat and clean, and to have good fashions sense or whatever. Reminds me of Halloween night when I was downtown with a couple of friends, both girls. Anyway, my friend Erica, was talking about some guy she knew who she was sure was gay, and he was pretty much doing what Queer Eye says for guys to do. Being neat and tidy.

Anyway, it seems that if you take everything these guys say and follow it, you may lose out on some relationships by making the woman feel insecure about her womanhood.

I don't blame the guys for maybe not wanting to take all of that advise.

They'll have a Christmas special episode where they visit the guys they made up.

For anyone interested, there's an LiveJournal group for Queer Eye called....queereye.

The funniest episode was the one with the Shaggy lookalike. He was such a clueless clumsy dumbass.

I've never seen this show, but it sounds like a fun concept, and I'd be interested in going on this show. Lord knows I need to be neat and clean and organized.

Variety reports that Bravo is going into production on a one-hour special, Straight Eye for the Queer Guy, which will offer a reversal of the cable network's hit series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. The one-shot will offer a quintet of heterosexual men giving a gay guy a makeover that may include, according to Variety, "power tools 101, NFL basics, decorating your garage, two-minute hair, and sports event etiquette." No airdate has been set, and the straight makeover experts have not yet been chosen.

Yeah..uh..the football stuff should be funny.

I'd rather be like the gay guys...well without the sex part.
