If earth was the WWE folder...

I never cared much for WCW Goldberg either - but I did get accustomed to the character. I don't think casual fans really want to see Goldberg humanized. They want him to beat whatever heel happens to be at the top of the card that month. I think the attempts the WWE have made at making Goldberg a more realistic character have damaged his drawing potential. I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, just that perhaps it should be done in a more gradual fashion than deciding to have a wrestler with a 170-something long winning streak suddenly sell for Mark Henry.

K.

Mark Henry is the world's strongest man, I'd expect him to get hurt a bit. I'd definately be upset if Goldberg started selling like mad for Spike Dudley or Rey Mysterio, but realistically, Mark Henry should hurt him a little bit....regardless of how bad of a wrestler he is.

Point taken - maybe Henry's not the best example. Obviously, his strength should have a visible effect on Goldberg. But is it really a good idea for him to have control portions? Henry's a glorified jobber; I'd expect him to overpower Goldberg on occasion, and maybe take control for a few minutes off an obligatory splash or bearhug spot, but I don't think it's really a sound idea for one of the company's alleged draws to be selling for said jobber. I've never seen someone like Rock or HHH in that position, with good reason (HHH's attempts at recreating his '00 match with TAKA notwithstanding).

I agree, but I take that all in stride as I understand the WWE is TRYING to remove Henry from jobber status. I totally did not agree with henry dominating Michaels for several weeks...he's a waste of time, not unlike thew Big Show on Smackdown. And on the same token, was it realistic Guerrero was going to beat the Big Show? No, and I'm glad it didn't happen.

They're trying to justify that 10 million dollars they're paying him. Hey if I was stupid enough to give him that I'd be trying to make it pay off to.

I suppose it's a question of whether you'd rather accept the WWE's current direction or not. I question the decision to devote main event time to Henry as opposed to Booker or Jericho, or the decision to use Eddie to put over Paul Wright instead of feuding him with somebody like Chavo or Matt Hardy that could benefit more tangibly from the U.S. title. Of course, that kind of fantasy booking can easily lead to that 'smarky' attitude you detest so much. Personally, I don't enjoy the product enough to overlook what I percieve to be some very serious shortcomings - but not everybody's going to see it that way.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vince renewed Henry's contract. At FAR less mind you.

1. I wouldn't have ever put Guerrero and Big Show together....ever.

2. Since Guerrero/Big Show was pre-ordained by VinneeMac, I'd have to go with the Big Show just out of realism.

3. I don't think Vince McMahon is crazy enough to put anymore into Mark Henry, the human lemon.

The Guerrero/Show pairing was death, yes. There are a couple realistic ways for Show to lose, but I don't know if Eddie could've pulled it off. I suppose the best idea would've been for Guerrero to lift the triangle choke UT used in the double pin/submission match against Angle.

Though to be honest, I would've been perfectly happy with a "dropkick, dropkick, leg work, fancy dropkick, frog splash" sort of match if it would've kept Wright off my television.

If you (Banky, whoever) hates smarks, why post at a board called the smarkmarks? There's a bit of a clue in the title as to the type of fans you'll find here.

And if you really dislike WWE smartmarks that much, why not avoid the folder? Everyone knows how dull it is anyway.

Why not? In WCW, during his "giant killer" angle, Misterio scored pinfalls against Nash & Scott Norton.

It's not realistic in REAL LIFE.

Why not? Smaller, faster guy uses his speed & agility to hit & run. Get a few good shots in on his knees/legs, and big guy can't stand up. From there, the small guy is more or less in charge.

Against a big guy like Brock, it may not work, but Big Show isn't exactly Mr. Agility, so that strategy could realistically work on him.

If you want to hit up RavishingRickRudo, he can give you some MMA examples of small guys taking out big guys, if you're so inclined.

I'm not saying that it never happens. But in the grand scheme of life and ANY fight I've seen, the smaller guy get's his ass kicked.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, but pro wrestling requires a not-so-small amount of suspension of belief. In any "real" fight, no one is going to pull out a 619 or West Coast Pop. You won't even see a dropkick. These are all things that wrestlers add to their matches to create excitement. So, when you see this crazy, surreal sport in action, you've got to consider the normal rules of combat, in addition to physics, pretty much out the window.

I've always felt anyone can be credible beating anyone else, as long as they're booked well. Eddie may not have gotten the upper hand much on Big Show, but I thought the attack before the PPV (when Show smashed both Eddie and his ride) gave the feud an emotional fire, and gave Eddie motivation to pull out hidden reserves, so to speak, and upset the Big Show. Not to mention, Eddie was hot at the time, and from a "smark" standpoint, it wasn't inconceivable that he'd retain.

Think of how often Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels beat bigger guys. Would they win in a street fight, or a barroom brawl? Probably not. But because they were perceived as the superior wrestlers, people bought their victories, and the result was two memorable world champions. It's important to do well in the ring, even in this day and age. It isn't the only factor, but the credibility it gives you is invaluable. Eddie has that credibility, and that's why I feel it would have been very realistic, in WWE terms, to see him go over.

But now we get Big Show playing lackey to Brok and essentially devaluing the US Title, which Eddie worked somewhat hard to make seem meaningful. Let's hope they can get out of that pattern before they have another Intercontinental Title -- something that was once so meaningful that's essentially a token belt now.

HA! Man, I'd feel bad for Shawn on that one if he hadn't spent the better part of a decade prancing around in neon and streamers. And little hearts.

I'm sure Shawn was a cock and had that beating coming.

A 160 lbs lucha star against an ass kicking wrestler. If Eddie Guerrero was trained in any form of MMA, minus wrestling, to actually and realistically take Big Show down - I'd believe it.

Eddie 200+ lbs.

Doesn't need to be MMA trained. Kicks to the knees and/or ankles until Show can't stand up. Eddie's certainly fast enough to evade show pretty well.

But as Lennox Lewis proved, you can take more damage while giving out more damage in shorter quantites.

Ah I see so our WWE folder should look more like this......

Banky - "I enjoyed Smackdown this week"

Ray - "Me too, Benoit ruled"

Banky - "Thats your opinion"

Ray - "Yes it is"

Banky - "That's cool, it's subjective, I thought Angle ruled"

Ray - "That's ok man, it's 100% objective"

Random guy - "WWE ROX!"

Banky - "Some may think it does some may think it doesn't, it's 100% subjective"

Random Guy - "Kool!"

OMFGITZAYEWTOPIENPOZTINPARDIZE!

Besides if it pisses you off that much go and do something in there to improve the standard of posting rather than sitting here bitching like old women about how much standards are dropping in the neigbourhood

What in the blazes are you talking about? I am hardly an Angle supporter, in fact, I ask you to find that thread. And I'd have Ray curb stomped if we actually had a debate. Sucka. You're just smarkchoice buddies....oh, smarkchoice.

Dropkick to the knee!

If you need an example look for Kimo vs Paul Valens or Don Fry vs Tank Abbot in the early UFC.

Well why don't you get Ray curb stomped then?

and it doesn't matter if you liek Angle or not, just take out the word Angle and replace with another, no differance

that would be SmarkSchoice seeing as I'm feeling petty today
