El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 There has been a RASH of injuries. I doubt the WWE likes the ideas of their guys "cutting loose" when they have SO many of them on the injured list. -=Mike How many of those injuries have been bicep injuries? Quite a few, that I can think of. The rampant neck injuries? How many of those were caused by taking too many chairshots (Something that's used way too much, and taken largely on the neck.) ..or because of needless gimmick matches in an attempt to spike ratings? (TLC, HIAC, Tables..) Something tells me cutting loose would cause less injuries than having to have all the gimmick matches they do.
The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 (edited) And the death of the WWE HELPS wrestling in WHAT way exactly? -=Mike No help at all. I don't know why some people consider themselves wrestling fans, but want to see the death of WWE. That would be a huuuugggee blow to pro wrestling on our shores. It's not WWF and WCW anymore. If WWE dies, that's it. Wrestling loses all of it's mainstream marketability, and American wrestling is screwed for a good number of years. But WWE's just not going to die. Plain and simple. If they could survive the "New WWF Generation", then they can survive now, when they're still lingering on to the business they had back in '99 or '00. It's not as profitable now, sure, but they're still a multi-million dollar company. Edited November 5, 2003 by CM Funk
Michrome 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 If the WWE dies, we will be back to the days of territories in the U.S., and I'd get to see a bunch of dream matches with WWE guys vs. Indy guys and some big WWE guys going over to Japan for money matches. I don't watch wrestling on TV now anyways, so if WWE goes under and I get to see matches like Chris Benoit vs. Bryan Danielson, Kurt Angle vs. Chris Hero, etc, I'll be extremely happy. El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Though, to clarify..I've never wished the WWE death, even once. However, I can't say I'd be saddened if Vince's beloved "Sports Entertainment" died horribly.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 I would try to make PPV's more unpredictable, and less like a 3 hour version of Raw and Smackdown. Making it so that after a PPV, a fan might regret not ordering it. Perhaps have a shocking end to the main event, or have a sudden big return come out of nowhere. It's like awhile ago when Austin was coming back. They announced it on Raw that he was coming back, they spent four weeks baiting and switching at every opportunity before announcing that he's coming back at the PPV. Well, that's nice, and it likely will increase the buyrate for that PPV; however it tells me that if a big return is not announced beforehand, it likely won't happen on a given PPV. I'd regret not ordering a PPV if I missed a shocking moment on a PPV. I think fans might actually consider ordering a PPV if they knew there was a fair chance they will miss out something surprising on a PPV. Of course, they could just not care, but that's the chance I think the WWE should take.

I'm not saying you're wrong on this --- just that the WWE won't be keen on it with all of the injuries they've suffered. -=Mike
Guest Sakura Report post Posted November 5, 2003 I don't know why some people consider themselves wrestling fans, but want to see the death of WWE. Because it's over for me anyway. It's unwatchable and I have lost my love of the hobby. It's done. WWE is beyond god awful, it's at the point where it's so bad if I can't watch then I want to see it fail. I hate Vince, I hate Steph, I hate them all and I would love to see them fall.

Oh yeah, THAT is a good idea. Never mind that wrestling companies have a horribly difficult time getting TV deals --- something that was VITAL to regional promotions since the advent of TV. Watch the Cornette shoot to see how hard it was for OVW to get itself the TV deal it has. And that without TV deals, they don't get decent crowds for house shows. Without decent crowds, they don't make money. And, hey, I'm sure the WWE guys who DON'T retire (and, God knows, none of the upper guys actually NEED the money anymore) --- because, God knows, Benoit would LOVE the idea of going to Japan or some backwater shithole when he has a wife and kid at home --- would take a nice chunk of money, so indy guys make LESS money. But, hey, this is your dream I guess. If you think Angle v Chris Hero would EVER happen, enjoy life in that fantasy world. If the WWE folded, Angle would retire. Benoit would retire. Ditto Jericho, HHH, Storm, Rey, et al. -=Mike

Thus, I don't WATCH it --- nor do I hope for its demise. I just stopped caring and try to ignore it. -=Mike

El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Well, on the suggestion front.. Send Ross and Lawler out to pasture. (In Ross' case, both as announcer -and- Head of Talent Relations. He wouldn't see talent if it kicked him in the face.) Both are too played-out to serve any purpose. Hell, Cole and Tazz are better than those two..and considering the hatred many used to have for Cole around here, that's pathetic.

Yeah ok........Great wishes and everything you have there, but let me ask you this. How is anyone gonna watch any of these great matches you're talking about? If you think any of these indies or territories will get a TV deal after the biggest wrestling company of all time goes under you are sadly mistaken. On top of that these guys in WWE make great money now and would be making peanuts int he indies, so you guys are basically saying "fuck you " to all of them. Wake up people! RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 I don't see the split as anything new because it's still the SAME shows with the SAME people (or type of people) getting pushed. They aren't even "different" shows.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 The Death of the WWE wouldn't benefit the Wrestling Industry overnight, however, in the long-term it would since Vince wouldn't gobble up all the talent or continue to give wrestling a black-eye. As long as the WWE exists, the Wrestling Industry will not recover.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 To play Devil's Advocate...if WWE died most of their talent would go to TNA and give them the needed boost to probably get a TV deal. But then again if WWE ever died it would be years from now and TNA would have either already gotten a TV deal or died out.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Vince McMahan #1 heel of the company? Sadly.....yes....nobody draws heat like he does. However heat is apparently the only thing he draws. Which goes back to the "Just because he draws reaction from the live crowd doesn't mean he's a DRAW". Oh and Sakura. That was fucking retarded. "I don't like it...so I HOPE IT DIES!" So by your mentality if someone didn't like your actions then it is perfectly ok for them to wish that you die. Pfft....
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Vince does draw great heel heat...so use him to enhance not to be the main focus. He's a great heel, but he's not bringing the casual fans back and he's not helping the buy rates.

razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Vince should be a manager not a Main Event rastler. If Vince needs to be on tv every second of the show than let him be the main announcer again and fire either JR or King.
