Family Guy

Recommended Posts

About a year and a half ago, I made a thread in this folder about my (then new-found) love for Mystery Science Theater 3000. Well, now I have another show that I absolutely love called Family Guy.

I have never laughed so hard in such a long time as I have watching this show. Literally, every second there is something to laugh at. All the characters are funny but I really like Peter and Stewie Griffin. I also love when the show cuts to a really funny flashback. I've only been watching the show for 2 weeks on Cartoon Network and I already am taping shows and watching them over and over again.

The Simpsons haven't made me laugh out laugh in years, yet this show does so with every episode. I cannot believe Fox would cancel this great show. It's truly excellence and very entertaining. It's on every Monday-Thursday at 11 or 11:30 on Cartoon Network.

My favorite episode so far is the one where Peter goes to the Beer Brewery. I loved the whole Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory parody. My favorite scene is when Peter trips on the sidewalk and spends a good minute groaning repeating the same sound over and over again. I was rolling on the floor when I saw that part.

So, post your comments on the show in this thread. Also post your favorite scenes and any information on why Fox cancelled the show. And any episodes I should see.

I loved it when it was on Fox, then they moved it around or put it on hiatus or something, and I stopped watching.

I REALLY need to watch the reruns of it but I keep forgetting.

Truly awesome show!

I recently bought the first seaon dvd and it's the funniest things ever.

Peter griffin has to be one of the funniest characters ever created.

"Hey, were you there when I farted?"-Peter griffin.

Considering i'm watching the Season One DVD right now i'd say i'm a fan of it. I loved the show when it was first on tv, all the episodes i've seen are full of hilarity. Family Guy will be regularly finding it's way into my DVD player.

I need to pick up Volume 2 of the DVD Box set. Its sad how this show only got 3 seasons.

Although word around the rumor mill is that since the show is getting Cartoon Network such high ratings that it could be brought back to life

Family Guy was a show where if you didn't watch it, you would dismiss it as a Simpsons ripoff, but if you did see it, you would realise the Simpsons have been ripping off parts of Family Guy in their later seasons. The show is that good.

Yup. I read it off quite a few Family Guy sites when I was looking for different pics and sound bites from the show.

I Am Peter, Hear Me Roar, was one of my all-time favorite episodes. The one where all of Peter's sexist remarks ended him up in some Women's Sensitivity Class, where Peter finds his femmine side.

Also, Brian In Love was another classic show, where Brian's love for Lois showed all his human-traits, and played up the on-going parody of him being a talking human-like dog.

Man, there's so many. But I advice anyone who doesnt have them, GET THE DVDs! It's without a doubt, the best set released for a television show. Well, at least to me it is.

The show isn't going to be back brought to life, despite high ratings. Creator Seth MacFarlane said that he's pretty much moved on to other things and doesn't really have an interest in starting the series up again. The most you could hope for is a Family Guy movie, which would be released only on DVD. One being made was pretty heavy talk a few months back so I think it's a possibility, but I doubt we'll ever see the revival of the series.

Cartoon Network is owned by Time Warner, they have enough money to sway him back if they really want to

I'll throw my hat into the Family Guy fan ring. The Simpsons have turned in their most blatant rip off yet with last week's halloween episode. By the way, my favorite character was Quagmire, perhaps not surprisingly given my reputation around here.

Easily one of the best cartoons ever. I loved it when it was on Fox, but they moved it around so much it got hard to watch every week. I watch it every night on Teletoon here in Canada, plus I have both box sets (which I highly recommend).

What got me on the DVD was the commentary for "Brian Wallows and Peter Swallows." In it Seth says the network had a problem with showing Peter throw up but didn't have a problem with an elderly woman have a very ROMANTIC relationship with Brian the dog!

Seth has also gone on record as saying a Family Guy movie is being planned for DVD, expected in late 2004. Judging from how close the cast was on the commentary, I could see it happening.

I like the commentary for When You Wish Upon a Weinstein. When Seth or one of the writers (I forget) is like, "Yeah, they enjoy when you mock everyone equally. Until it is time to poke fun at Jewish people. Then it is too controversial. Made me sick."

Yeah isn't that the ep that Fox refused to show and Cartoon Network is going to show it on Nov 9th?

The end of the Y2K episode (Da Boom?) is one of the funniest endings ever.

"....What's the Family Guy?"

Yes

I'd be shocked if the show ever comes back. I guess CN offered them $500,000 an episode, but the show creator said he needs a million per episode. He claims the show costs a million per episode, but I find that hard to believe. It sounds more like he doesn't really want to do it, so he's making high demands.

Keep in mind, I heard this on some message board, so I don't know what the source is. Take it merely as a rumor. The most I'm expecting is a few direct to DVD movies.

Exactly. Seth has moved onto other projects and hasn't been waiting around for someone to put Family Guy back into production, so people should prolly just accept that while it was a great show, it'll always be one of those that was cut off too soon.

And I really get tired of the Simpsons-bashing that happens everytime this show's brought up. Yes, they've obviously taken some elements from Family Guy, but guess what? So did Family Guy. The big oaf with all the hilarious lines with an understanding wife...where did I see that? Oh yeah, the Simpsons.

The Simpsons is obviously not what it used to be, but I'd really like to see what Family Guy would've been like had it gone FIFTEEN seasons.
