MrRant 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2003 Well I thought about getting some Adult Swim merch until I saw that it's being sold at Hot Topic. I refuse to buy anything that gets sold at Hot Topic because they are responsible for all these semi-gay looking punk teens trying to be punk but look gay in the process. I dare you to ask these people what punk is. You'll want to stab them in the face. And I really wanted the Brak Show shirt.

Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2003 All those Hot Topic kids are punk because punk as a concept became gay and retarded in 1985. The definition of punk is now "gay and retarded". What you used to call punk is something else now, and it's better that we don't know what it really is, because it would just become gay again. In conclusion, be a man and wear the damn shirt. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 10, 2003 (edited) Tigger is right...punk is only punk if no one knows it's punk. Once someone calls it punk, it stops being punk. So kids if you want to be punk, don't be punk, if you're being punk, you're not punk. So don't be punk to be punk. But you still can't call yourself punk, because then you won't be punk, you'd be a poser. Edited November 10, 2003 by El Satanico

Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2003 Who cares what store it's at? Unless you see it cheaper somewhere else, if you want the shirt and can afford it, buy it. Who cares if punk kids buy stuff there? When has Brak ever been associated with punk?

MrRant 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2003 Sad part is half of the pussy kids you see in that store either a) have barely played those games, b) Have never played them period or c) weren't old enough to enjoy them when they came out.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 18, 2003 I've bought stuff there before and still would without a second thought. I really don't give a fuck about who shops there or the "politics" of the kids who shop there. I like the pop culture and vintage style shirts they sell, statements be damned. MrRant 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2003 Would you buy these shirts if they were sold in a Christian Science store?
Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted November 18, 2003 I can't imagine the mindset of anyone that would overtly shop at a store that said it was "punk" or "alternative." Isn't there any degree of subtlety anymore? Do people wake up in the morning and say "yes, I think now is the time; today I want to be a punk!" And then they just stroll on over to Hot Topic or whatever else claims to be the "one stop shop for all their gothic/punk/grunge/vampire/alternative needs?" I readily admit I'm a nerd/geek. I am the way I am because I grew up this way. I wasn't out on Friday night getting drunk and gettin' some when I was in high school because Friday night gaming with my pals was just something that seemed "right." I grew up with the notion that Magic: The Gathering, wrestling, hockey and video games were my way of life (which is why that Duck Hunt shirt belongs on my hot body). I didn't need to shop at a store to end up the way I did, it came naturally. Heh, I didn't even realize I was a geek until the 8th grade. Hey man, I got to where I am by CLUELESSLY shopping for my clothes at K-Mart baby! No buzzing signs and fads were needed to mold this image!
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 18, 2003 Would you buy these shirts if they were sold in a Christian Science store? Yes...just so I could say "Yes...I got a meatwad shirt from a bible store" The question is a silly question and you're a silly man for asking such a silly question...a person would never be faced with such a dilemma
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 18, 2003 Let's burn down comic book stores next...after all they mold people into nerds. I hate nerds! aaaaaah! kill the nerds! :whistles and strolls away:
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2003 Man, you guys still don't get it. Being punk requires you to be flagrantly short sighted, retarded, gay, arbitrary, asinine and commercial. That's what punk is. How many kids are all those things? Lots. Punk fills that niche. They need it, that's who they are.
