Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Who thinks Jarrett is God now? Y'know, I think it's pretty much unanimous amongst the TNA marks that Jarrett does book himself too strong. No one is going to tell Dave here that he doesn't, and quite frankly I'm sick of Jarrett myself. Russo, I do like a lot of his stuff, and some of it I loathe. I'm more apt to defend him at times than many would be (since I'm one of a chosen few who can stand the guy, and found enjoyment in his WCW era.) However, this whole thing is not about people being TNA apologists, defending Jarrett, hating on Raven, or anything of that. It's about you taking your opinion to the next level and forcing it upon everyone, as if it's right. If you said in passing that you didn't like Jarrett, that's fine. It's just that your bitter resentment towards Jarrett leads you to say nonsense like "Sonjay Dutt is an untalented spotmonkey" when right now he's one of the most talked about and coveted indy guys going. THAT is a fact. Check IWA-MS, MLW, TNA, CZW, and others for proof, because he gets booked, and he gets pushed because he has GOOD MATCHES. MLW put him over DANIELS in order to elevate his status, and now TNA is trying to break him in. You just figure "Oh, he's some X guy I never heard of. SPOTMONKEY!" Not quite. You can't judge something you've never seen. How would you like it if I said "Man, your articles must SUCK!" despite never having read one? You'd think I was an ass, wouldn't you? Guest Dave O'Neill, Journalist Report post Posted November 11, 2003 So, Coffey is screwed, from the Rules; 3. We don't care what you know or what you don't...as long as you can convey your point like a person who speaks English at a somewhat coherent and intelligent level. I'm not asking for perfection when it comes to spelling, grammar and punctuation, but it comes a long way in allowing the rest of us to understand what you're saying. If this becomes an issue, you can be banned due to mod’s discretion. This is a place where people come to unwind, have fun, and/or debate about certain topics. We don't come here to spend precious time translating posts from Stupid-to-English. -Thanks Dames.
Guest Dave O'Neill, Journalist Report post Posted November 11, 2003 I can't believe that Zack went all the way back to a throwaway comment I made about Sonjay Dutt. GAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH For the record, I don't care about him, but I reckon people like Batista have a better future in the business. This comes, after, say i with me, I watched his stuff. He used to wrestle in FWA, which, as I previously mentioned, I watch.

He used to wrestle in FWA, which, as I previously mentioned, I watch. Sonjay was just an example. It's been said about others too. You also blame Jarrett for Raven's "status" when RAVEN HAS CREATIVE CONTROL OVER HIS OWN CHARACTER! As for Batista having a better future, he's a bland hoss who retore his tricep JOGGING. Sonjay is, as far as I know, free from ever having a serious injury despite his highspot favortism. While the highspot style will take a few years off your career, I'd venture to say that the non-injury prone, charismatic Sonjay will do better. The worst thing WWE did was hossize Batista, because the Leviathan gimmick could have put him over the top. Now he's just another OVW face with no real identity. (Cade, Jindrak, Morgan). You can't judge something you've never seen. How would you like it if I said "Man, your articles must SUCK!" despite never having read one? You'd think I was an ass, wouldn't you? Simply because that's so well written, I'd like to apologise to CERTAIN PEOPLE. I honestly wish I haven't been trying to force an opinion on anybody. I made my inital statement that I felt Jarrett was inadvertedly sabotaging his own promotion, and that Raven was been buried (an opinion I have since retracted) This reason I went off the deep end, as it were, is the behavious of a select group, namely two people, who were OUTRAGED that I have an anti TNA /Anti Jarrett opinion in the TNA Forum, and baited me into replying, and I lost my temper. The rest, I hope, is ancient history. To everybody, with the exception of Mad Dog and Syxx2001, I sincerly apologise for pissing you off, and next time, my arguments will be a little more coherent. -Dave O'Neill Now will somebody please shut this goddamn thread??????? Guest Dave O'Neill, Journalist Report post Posted November 11, 2003 You also blame Jarrett for Raven's "status" when RAVEN HAS CREATIVE CONTROL OVER HIS OWN CHARACTER! I hate to bring this up, but I was under the impression Raven was part of a booking committee, that included Raven, Russo, Disco and Jarrett, that ceceeded all power to the almighty Dutch. As for Dutt vs Batista, which one of them was against Goldberg on Raw, despite being as bland as whatever. I'd blame Cornette for Batista's mess, since Corny gave him a gimmick that simply would not work in the WWE, and they had to lose it

Guest Dave O'Neill, Journalist Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Yeah, but the difference is that its "realtively" free, and not PPV. For TNA to do consistently well, they need a bang-bang-bang series of payoff so people think theyre getting their $ worth. Dutch Mantell is not known for this appraoch, which is why there has been negative feedback of TNA in the past couple of weeks.

Then why is he known for bringing that shit promotion in Puerto Rico to become a very successful one and bring it to the United States for the first time? Guest Dids Report post Posted November 11, 2003 Dave's parrotting something that either Jay or Zack said. IWA doesn't ask people to shell out 10 bucks a week, so it's easier to do the slow burn. Mantell's booking might be good, but it may lead to some anti-climatic shows for a while. However, that wasn't the approach Dave was taking towards Dutch initially. Though TNA two weeks ago did suck (Duggan and Steiner? C'mon...), I'm all for a slower build to things and letting Mantel get his ducks in a row, rather than blow potential money matches just for the sake of "thumbs up" reviews in the morning.
